my Acura did the same, i called Acura and they said they go out and i need to replace it. But i disconnected mine because it still uses the battery when the car is off and made mine die if i didn't drive it for a couple of weeks.

Great simple instruction, thanks for sharing. Did that light stayed on with out going off? Or it turned on occasionally during warm weather when you were driving on highway and then shut off on its own after while?

This is such a clear n concise video. Ty so much for making it! for anyone interested: when I removed my top and bottom nuts, the entire threaded bar came out, from both of them. Essentially they came out with the old valve. I had to tear the old seals off and kinda break the old part, to get the threaded bars and washers needed to reinstall the new part.

Valve could be sticking I'd try cleaning it before replacing it that's how mine started it would come on and go off occasionally but eventually got to a point where it just stayed on.

I am getting this on my 2008 Acura Tl "tighten gas cap". On and off. after searching on Acurazine, and youtube and I bumped into your channel. Did you notice any difference in engine response / smoothness? fuel economy? I noticed, the throttle is weak when the sign is on and it usually comes in cold temp during high humidity period. Going to do this soon. Also OEM part it about $140 :/

Hi Chris I changed it- and heck yea there is a big difference. That car is smoother now and I also realized the gears are switching much better. I suggest changing the pcv value for better economy as well. This change on your video is for the seleniod. There is pcv value in the front left of the engine. You’ll get better mileage. I changed both and have an amazing mileage now and more horsepower.

I paid just under 100 bucks for it at my local Acura dealership. But some people have found them cheaper online

buy Acura part only cost more but will fix the issue .... aftermarket one I got robbed on price and quality for it to fail .. I recently installed my own PVS from Acura .paid about near 170$ took mins to replace the part and drove it for about 90 miles and took my 2010 In to get Inspection and passed

I replaced mine with one from autozone and the Light came back on not too much long thereafter. The part has to be OEM

I get the same sign on my 2010 tl need to find that part and see if its in same spot or else where I put new gas cap went away for a while but came back

I'm not sure of the location on the 2010 model I do know that it is a different part number. Try searching this part number.36162RMXA01 for the 2010

were you getting check emissions on the dash w an occasional gas cap ?? or just gad cap ??

@@ChrisLaboo I'm getting check emissions used to go on and off and then check gas cap etc I tried to reset it w 02 sensor it came back ok I tried to pour this crc stuff in that didn't work this time I disconnected the negative terminal but realized I gotta disconnect the positive w while its on the on switch w key fob then replug the positive terminal then start the car and see if it will reset it on my 2010 tl

I am having troubles with missfires, very light at idle and then gets choppy once light throttle is applied, absolutely no codes , but I am getting this tighten gas cap warning now , any relation to my issues. New ngk plugs installed yesterday

I don't think there's any relationship between the tighten fuel cap and the misfiring. Have you checked the spark plugs and the coil packs and all of their connections to make sure nothing is loose?

I got the tighten fuel cap light on my 2008 Acura TL. I went to mechanic and replaced the evap purge. I still get the message and now engine light also. Any suggestions?

Maybe check the hoses and connections on the purge Valve. And have codes read for check engine light could be another problem

PhoebeChitChat if they used an aftermarket purge it brings the check engine light. Has to be Oem from acura

Tighten gas cap light came on, I replaced the gas cap, then 4 months later the light came back on, so (gas cap is still good) 3 hours later itwent off and the check engine light came on code p0497 for evap leak would it be the Purge Control valve or canister don’t want to have to replace both if possible. Any suggestions please and thanks in advance.

Gas cap should still be good. The EVAP purge canister Valve should fix the problem.

@@Sammy91666 only other suggestion I would have is to check the vacuum lines going to the valve to make sure nothing is cracked or broken.

@@BUZZNIGHTYEAR99 it's possible you have a faulty evap valve. But before you replace the valve start by check all the hoses to make sure nothing is clogged

Luis Duenas maybe spray some soapy water or some type of lubricant on it and gently try and pry them off. Or maybe give them a gentle twist. I gently twisted mine and they came off

LiL LOsO MeXicanO I changed My Gas Capp and Purge valve 3 months ago amd inwas still gettin the fuel cap message , i finally changed my canister includin the dust filter and and pressure valve AND BOOM messae hasnt came back up , and m fuel economy is better now

So I changed the purge valve now the a/c isnt blowing cold. Does anyone think the issues are related? Blower work fyi... Does refrigerant flow thru this valve that may have been released?

That's always a possibility. I replaced my fuel cap twice before doing some more searching and discovered what the cause of the problem was.

Would this be the same fix on the 09 to 14 TL my light is on also in my 2012 TL

I went with genuine oem part from dealer and paid 120 for it but they can be found for less anywhere from 60 to 120 bucks

Make sure u have radio code and that the alarm is not set. You can clear the code if you have a scanner though.

Thats the one my O'Reillys wanted to sell me for $140. He said its the only available one, but it looks like a non OEM, so I didn't wanna take my chances. Although, the guy said it has a lifetime warranty. 🤷

Pliers on the shock for the hood, doesn’t look promising

Check all the connections and vacuum hoses that attach to the valve to make sure none of them are clogged or damaged. Also check your gas cap. Hope this helps
