    Can you explain the two widebands and trigger wire on options port? Are you setting it up so you can use both the stock O2 and the aftermarket widebands? In the instructions I’m seeing that if connecting a wideband, sensor wire goes to EGO pin then the stock O2s need to be disconnected.

  • @MalcolmV8

    @MalcolmV8

    Жыл бұрын

    Stock narrow bands were removed. Widebands replaced them. Yes you would normally re-use the EGO signal wire from your wideband instead. I however chose to use CAN BUS widebands. It is a far more accurate way to go since the wideband sends it's information to the MS3 over a digital network instead of a varying voltage analog signal.

    There actually is a mark on the OEM balancer. there is a little notch on the balancer that you can see with the timing light. There also is a pointer on the stock front cover for 10 degrees before TDC. when I installed my MS3pnp i had to remove the supercharger belt and intercooler tank to get a good vantage point but after doing so everything worked out. i think i ended up at 401 timing offset.

  • @MalcolmV8

    @MalcolmV8

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes good point, if you're still on a stock balancer there is that mark. I'd still validate it with the piston stop and see how on point it is. The Zinc has an aftermarket balancer so that was not even an option, the Redfire has the stock balancer but there's so much stuff in the way I didn't even think about that. Good reminder, thanks!

  • @AwesomeFinish

    This method is definitely much easier than trying to get a glimpse of the stock timing marks. Plus like he said aftermarket balancers don't include a notch. I have a Innovators West balancer and there's no marks on it. I don't mind putting it up on ramps and doing the marks on the oil pan.

    @@AwesomeFinish understandable. It took me 15 minutes to get the coolant tank off and the supercharger belt off. I have a stock balancer so it made the most sense for me to do it that way. Either way it doesn't really matter as long as you verify timing one way or another

    Are there any issues with the evap with the ms3 I have a return style fuel hat the car is tt it’s a mach 1 I noticed your name on the svt forms when talking about it not but no solid answers the tank is out because I was putting a cobra baffled tank in I also noticed a lot of fuel smell before. All of my lines are fragola ptfe so i don’t think it’s the lines I’ve been thinking about deleting the Evap (the ms3 isn’t installed yet)

  • @MalcolmV8

    @MalcolmV8

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you're having evap issues now the MS3 won't fix that. The MS3 is an off road ECU and does not support evap or other emissions natively however you could wire up the evap's solenoid to a relay and have the ms3 trigger it with some logic such as car speed greater than 25 mph and engine temp greater than 160 or something like that. The idea is the solenoids would be normally closed and no fuel smells in your garage but it would vent the tank for pressure as well as let air in to replace the volume displacement of fuel been used when the vehicle is in use. Or some people just delete the evap but you risk fuel smells when parked in a garage.

    If you're just chasing a number the stock ECU will get you there. The MS3 however is way more feature rich and user friendly for both tuning and data logging. It has a lot of safety features built in such as if air/fuel is out of range anywhere from idle, part throttle driving, WOT or however you configure it. Oil pressure loss, it can take action. Features like closed loop fueling even at WOT using widebands, it can interface with a flex fuel sensor and give you true flex fuel capabilities where fueling and spark adjust automatically on the fly based on your pump gas/E85 mix in the tank. It does not have the RPM limitations of the stock ECU and it also has true traction control and not just a random abrupt spark cut like the stock ECU. The list goes on and on but you get the idea.

    @@SG-nl2uk You can definitely get there on the stock ECU, myself and many others have done it. The MS3 is just a far superior platform to do it with a lot more features. So not required by any means but it'll do the job a lot better. Having some safety's in place at those levels is also nice. Even just closed loop fueling at WOT is great. If you run a little lean on a particular day with the stock ECU nothing is done about it. You just simply run lean. However with the MS3 and closed loop fueling at WOT if you ran a little lean one day for what ever reason it would instantly on the fly add some fuel to keep it in check. Just little things like that go a long way. Like I said, not required, but nice.
