I remember Coach Roy saying a few years later that when Marvin hit that shot that made the Dean Dome erupt that it was the loudest he had heard a crowd in any arena. I definitely believe that too.

I was behind the basket about 20 rows. Made my ears crackle - loudest crowd moment I have ever heard. I will never forget. So much energy in the Dean Dome that night.

I love that intro....the music and then the graphics and the crowd always gave it a big game feel. I remember after the game, I let the dog out into the back yard to do her business, and I yelled out, "Woooooooo!". From out of the darkness, I hear a "Go Heels" from across the street, where the guy had gone out on his front steps for a smoke. I couldn't think of anything else but "Yeah!"

This game, and honestly the whole day in college basketball, was absolutely nuts. Duke had our number for the years leading up to this and with this win we got the confidence that led us to the championship. And right before that Illinois (unbeatable up to that point) had gotten knocked off. By the way THANK YOU for these posts. I'm just pumping through all these games haha.

This day felt like an NFL Sunday on CBS with fantastic games down to the wire and the late game (this one) creeping past 7PM Eastern into the beginning of 60 Minutes. As Jim Nantz said, it really was a harbinger of Madness to come as the 2005 NCAA Tournament was a fantastic one.

@@americanpatriot7233 ACC championships? That’s what people care about. Lol. We have more national titles and we do it without 5 star recruits that are paid. That’s coaching. Scheyer will be fired in 3 years. He won’t have the NBA USA team collusion to recruit with like K did. Hopefully, he won’t fake back injuries to not take losses like K did. We gave K his first loss ever, his last loss at Hansbrough indoor, I mean Cameron indoor and we have him his last loss ever. Oh how sweet it is. He’s already completely forgotten. Have a great day

@@briansmith3769 you have to conbine coaches to have more titles than coach k,scheyer would have won the acc regular season title if the refs had called those fouls at the end of the virginia and virginia tech game which would have give duke the best record in the acc this year.scheyer knows how to beat unc and proved it when he played and proved it now coaching.not fake back injuries? coach k had back surgery that year thats why he missed.and coach k gave unc its worst beating at unc for his last game. much bigger than unc's win at duke.hansbrough lost to duke too at home.ur living in the past because its all you got, duke swept unc with our current coach haha
