All Hoon fans it was just announced that the Shannon Hoon documentary created from all of Shannon's home movies titled All I Can Say has a distribution deal and will FINALLY be released to the public!!! Those who were financial backers know just how long a time coming this has been. Just glad we will all get to see it soon! Can't wait to show my son Shannon Willough Fischer a documentary about his namesake!!

Dude! I’m the same age as Shannon was back in 95. I’m so glad to still be around. But, I wish mr. hoon was still here. RIP Shannon.

To Q95's credit, they played Galaxie the day Soup was released and I heard it, then drove straight to the local CD/Record store in Wabash, IN. That changed my life forever.

I hear ya, back in the day Q95 could do some cool things hear and there. But it did seem like it was mostly Bob Seeger being played. Lol...I have no understanding why people listen to almost any radio station today though. Thanks for commenting and checking us out Charles.

Soup is the most underrated album of the 90's.

This is great to listen to after so many years lost in the archive, Shannon had so much love to give, he's so down to earth in hearing him explain stuff about his life and experiences, music, friends & family ect, such a long interview I'll probably listen to this interview a few times, and play some early Blind Melon recordings on my old stereo, Blind Melon fan forever, rip Shannon Hoon 💚🙂 #melonheadforever 🙂💚🇬🇧

It has always boggled my mind why "soup" was slammed and even more so now after hearing Shannon break down the description of the songs. Like I knew before hearing this what "vernie" and "galaxy" is about, but still, just cos "soup" wasn't a "no rain" type record, don't mean it should be discarded... give it a chance.

Agree completely. I loved and respected their versatility but everyone for some reason wanted them to do "no rain" over and over. Everyone wanted them to be the little hippie band but at the end of the day they were more muscular and had more things to say than just dance around and be cute in bee costumes.

Soup is an awesome album. I’ve always thought it was bullshit how Rolling Stone gave the album a bad review and then later on MTV had Blind Melon on the one hit wonders list. Blind Melon is easily one of the best bands of the 90’s. Shannon Hoon is a star and he always will be. I’ve heard he never got along with the press. Rightfully so..

I don’t know why so many people shit talk the first album including Shannon too sometimes. I fkn LOVE the first album! That’s what brought us all here right?! And NO…I’m not talking about no rain. For me it was never about that song. For me it was I wonder, sleepy house, change. That’s what made me LOVE Blind Mellon!🎶🤘🏼🎶🤘🏼

Most underated band ,i still play their music to this day. It will never date. I hope shannon is now at peace,god bless him.He was too good for this evil world 🙏❤

Soup is one of the greatest, under rated, prolific and eclectic recordings from a rock band in the 90's. Maybe the best sophomore release from an artist from that era as well. That could've done anything. Shannon was a gift. I got my head buried neath this pillow.... RIP Shannon.

That was really great and showed how great a human Shannon was... I wonder about the music he would have put out throughout his life...

Love that he talks about Pink Floyd records being something that needs digesting. Pink Floyd changed my relationship with music when first really listed to The Wall from start to finish during the summer before I started grade 8. Must be why I’m also a huge melonhead. :) This interview was such a treat. Thank you for this!

Best interview ever between a radio host and a musician that I will ever come across. I could have spent another hour or two listening to these two go back and forth just talking about pretty much anything on the table, which is saying alot being that I have attention deficit disorder and I can barely get through 10 minutes of an interview with the average A and B types if that makes any sense.

I loved ‘Soup’, but the song ‘Deserted’ from the first album is my all time favorite song from Blind Melon. The entire band was so talented, it’s amazing they all came from the midwest and the deep south and met in Los Angeles, pure fate.

Shannon seems to have given a pretty honest interview here. Thanks for uploading, it's good to hear him motivated and clear headed.

Great interview. I love how Shannon is so “matter of fact” about so many things. The Anti rock star…rockstar🤷🏻‍♂️ 100% agree with him about putting child abusers/murderers to death too. Fuck um, their not needed here! Rip Shannon…you were and are still needed here man.😢

One of the most underrated bands. Go beyond "No Rain" and you see who Shannon was. My son is literally named after him.

Hearing them talk about soup! It should've went through the ROOF ots so amazing! I'm like 36:35 in and "that songs gonna haunt me!" When I lived in Forest Grove, OG... I had my Melon shirt on and went into the Motá store! (Recreational is legal there) and it was Playing on the radio there! I talked to the girl and she was "oh nice shirt!" I was "you guys knew I was comin in eh?" And we laughed and I went on to talk about the band and the ink I want of them and Soup! It's still around today RSH!!!! Still making us all smoke and feel happy when we need it! I love you Shannon! Thank you for making my life better with you just being YOU!!!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘💚🧡💚🧡💚🍻🍻😇😇😇

It's not often people care more about family and their old life after they make it..He knew life wasn't all about money..Most people would have did whatever the record company wanted and not took a break and kept slaving away making the company millions while they got a small percentage but he stood up to them..Respect Shannon... He was a real passionate musician and that's what moves ya..

Wow thanks so much for sharing this. Really beautiful, but equally heartbreaking to hear Shannon talk about his love for Nico. Very precious. And I found the discussion of becoming more open-minded after moving to LA really admirable. I feel like we live in such a different time now that people couldn't admit to having that small town mentality at any point so I just think it was so cool to hear him openly talk about his personal growth and changes in outlook.

What an interesting guy.. and I loved how he mentioned the velvet underground & Janis Joplin and the styles of music.. he was a truly talented individual... gone too soon.. I wonder what music he would have been doing now had he stayed here with us all.. 😢

Hearing Shannon talk about Pink Floyd made my day. My 2 all-time favorite bands. And it isn't even close.

Great interview and as a drummer who has toured a few times in his life Shannon hit it on the head. Being in a band and making records and touring is not all it's cracked up to be and in fact it's a lot of f#$king work. Yes work. If it wasn't hard every band would have a record contract and millions of dollars...

Man, I cant believe that it would only be a month after this interview and Shannon would be gone. I was more than familiar with what took place so Im not really sure what I was expecting, to be honest, knowing his passing had come not long after the birth of his daughter. I hadnt quite heard the beginning of this interview & the preview of it from the very beginning before the interview started. Im not sure why knowing that took my feelings from an interested listener with a feeling of sadness to being almost stunned all over again. I guess that hearing him just living, simply living & in it & so much to live for. Hearing that life & laughter in this interview knowing it would be a mere month, four more weeks & we would lose him. Of course his spirit would be angry & disapointed that in that moment he lost himself. Its a feeling similar & familiar, upon also hearing the news of Jeff Buckley & Chris Cornell. I decided to feel grateful for the music they left us & people they were. Sad. R.I.P Shannon, Jeff & Chris.

Shannon left rehab way to early and there was a push for him to go out and tour for the new album. I think they should dried him out for 90 days . Then kind of half way housed him in a sense i think he would still be here. Any bandmates will tell you shannon liked his drugs. I think he was the type of guy that shouldnt even drink . I miss him dearly !

Blind Melon were good. This guy new what he was doing. I believe that had he lived, we would have gotten some real good albums from them. He just wasn't around long enough. He was the heart and soul of the band. That was his band, and just like that he overdosed and died. Once I heard that, I knew that there was no more Blind Melon. Just like Nirvana, and Sublime. Unlike Van Halen or AC/DC whereas they were the guitarists bands, and also had another family member in the band. These bands were founded by the lead singer, the lead singer, you could tell was writing most of not all of the songs, and the band had the sound that the lead singer wanted. Just as Van Halen and AC/DC kept the sound of their band even though the had more than one lead singer.

Listening to them talk about friends and stuff and other 90s bands is so weird. I remember as a kid and Shannon always seemed like.....so old...i guess. But now im 31 and he sounds like a kid. And hearing him talk about a guy dying soon being sad when he would be gone in like what? A month? Sigh. Wish he had stayed sober for his daughter. Shes 25 now. Nuts.

The reviewer should be fined and jailed!!! His work on SOUP (the whole band!) Is the best work! Its inw of the greatest LPs ever!!! Up there Nevermind and Inutero. It is their InUtero! It's the 10000000% sound the band had in their head and got it on tape! its sooo real and true!

No...Shannon was talking about the girl that played the bee in the "NO RAIN" video...Glen Graham's little sister appears in the bee costume on the cover of the Blind Melon album, but was not in the video....2 totally different people
