As the versions become more recent the build process is much more familiar and therefore routine so during some parts of the build the microphone is muted.

I've stayed with the Core Duo E7500 2.93 GHz as it is the most convenient machine I have available at the moment. Despite it's relative age to LFS-8.2 the build still completes in a reasonable time - it's just the GCC tests alone that require several hours. There are now hints in the book to parallel build and I again take advantage of this. There are one or two packages that might sometimes fail with a parallel build and the book advises when to modify the build commands to avoid failures.
