Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I show you how to remove your factory radio and prepare a new aftermarket radio. 2002 Hyundai Elantra GT.
This is my first attempt at a tutorial video. I hope it helps you.

Got to say this.... This is the best video for the dash removal in the Elantra. The other I watched was almost painful to remove the panel. Following this instruction I was able to pop the panel, replace the ashtray bulb (my objective), and put it back in place and screwed in about 20 minutes. Thank you
My 2006 Hyundai Elantra radio quit playing CD's for good about a month ago. Before that it was hit or miss. I dreaded the expense of buying a new car radio and paying somebody to do the install. I decided to buy the radio and do the installation myself. This video saved me tons of time and frustration. I got the Pioneer DEH-X66BT and I love it. Thanks so much for making this video!

Great video. Just one thing, if you're like me and about to attempt this job, remove the negative terminal (The black wire) on the battery so you don't short any wires or cause the airbag light to come on which you'll have to clear via a scan tool or the dealer. Everything in this video is perfect and professional .
This has to be one of the best tutorials on KZread. Very thorough, no steps skipped. Idiot proof !
Although I always solder harnesses, the first couple minutes of your video gave me absolute confidence in tearing the dash apart - for that a big thumbs-up, thank you!
This is 9 years after your video was uploaded and it's a lifesaver!
Your video saved me a nice chunk of change! Very detailed and I would NOT have been able to install my new radio without you! Thanks!!!!

You're welcome! Its comments like these that make me want to pick up my camera again and make some more how-too videos.
Yesterday I decided to buy a new stereo for my Elantra and did it flawlessly following this video. Never done this before ever. Thank you. For someone who sucks at this kind of stuff. WAs very proud of myself. Thank you.
Followed your tutorial and it worked perfectly. I had a bit of an issue with the bracket, and the screws not fitting in the new car stereo, which was weird. But I followed all of your instructions to the T and I have a new, working car stereo. As a FYI to people with a 2000-2006 Hyudai Elantra, the Kenwood KDC-125U uses different screws with the bracket, so you can't use the factory bracket screws, and it will only fit in the slot without the front cover around the front of the unit (which easily comes off).
Incredibly useful video. Was able to save 120 bucks by not having to pay someone to replace my stereo. A thousand blessings upon you and your goat, good sir.
Thank you for the clear, easy to follow, instructional video! I was able to upgrade the receiver on my 06 Elantra with no issue! You are awesome!
Very professional job. I always appreciate good camera work and clear language in a tutorial video. This one has both.
Should provide links to the wire harness! Great video Pal! Making it easy with step by step instructions.
Just thought I'd let you know, you helped me install my new stereo today. You da man. I think you left out the part about disconnecting the ground wire from your battery though. Appreciate the video regardless.
I followed your instructions to exactly and this turned out way easier than I had anticipated. Thank you so much for posting this!
Great video man. Very appreciated. Much easier than just going in and flying blind on removing the radio.
this is a really well made video. you did a great job! looking forward to doing my own install now. i was intimidated by the wiring harnesses being open but you make it look easy. :)
Excellent tutorial. Well paced, recorded and explained. Only suggestion is to move the electrical tools and accessories required to the beginning of the clip. Many thanks!
Yes, it worked, thank you!! I have a tip: I hooked up a Pioner deh x6700bt with the metra 70-1731 wiring harness, in my 2003 Hyundai Elantra, and I did not use 4 wires: blue(Power Antenna), blue/white(Amp), orange(Positive?), and orange/black(Negative?). I used every other color, and it was tricky getting the dash frame back in, and I misplaced 2 screws, and broke 1 plastic clip in the process, and may have forced the radio in because it was not 100% properly latched onto the pocket), but the result is, that it works, and all the other dash electronics work as intended!!!
Are you sure this is your first attempt at a tutorial? This is pretty spot on and helpful. I'm installing a radio in a friend's car and this was very clear and easy to follow!
Very helpful - thank you - the only thing I would add would be to let people know to move the automatic gear shifter into "L" position to make the removal of the dash panel much easier.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELPFUL VIDEO!!!!!!!! I saved myself $70 in installation fees from Best Buy thanks to you!!!
This is a beautifully edited video and provided all the information I needed for a successful install, thanks!
I know you did this some time ago but it is a very well made video. Helped amazingly. Thank you
You just saved me buying an install kit. If all I need is a wiring harness, this is one cheap replacement.
You have no idea how much easier you just made my day. Thank You !!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this video! It saved me a lot of time since I knew exactly what was needed to be done.
Thanks for the video. I just used to install a radio in my 2005 Elantra!
Thank you for doing this video. It was just what I needed to change out my faulty HVAC control unit on my vehicle.
thanks! paused and re-watched plenty of times but didn't have to take the dash all apart just kinda left it hanging and squeezed the new deck in there but great video !
Thanks dude this worked out perfectly because I got this radio on clearance this week, same model.
Great videos!!!Simple and clean.Followed your instructions and did mine in about 15 mins!Awesome!
Thank you very much! I did it all in 20 minutes. Thank you for a great tutorial!
My 2004 elantra gt didnt have the double din metal bracket. Mine was plastic and it wasn't wide enough for the unit I bought. Had to clip the top off and sand it down to fit the stereos sides only. Otherwise you explained the perfect install. Thanks. I got a JVC KD-R790BT and it sounds great with the GT speakers that were awsome for stock speakers.
i used this video step by step to install a stereo in my Elantra, very helpful thank you!
Thanks for this - great video. Dashboard came out exactly as you said. Thanks for taking the time to make this to help others.
Got to say thank you for posting this!! Worked like a champ
Thank you for the tutorial! Just changed out my car radio on my 2005 hyundai elantra and it went smoothly!

Did you buy the same stereo or did you get a different one
thank you soooooo much to share this video with us. Actually i have been searching a source for weeks like you shared. I have a 2004 elantra and happen some problems about radio/cd player which doesnt play cds. thanks a lot buddy.
"Proper insertion into the butt connector". This line was gold. Great video by the way.
I loved the Video. It is very clear and the work is very clean and professional.
Quality guide video my guy well done. Made it feel very easy and it was really.
Thanks bro ur video helped me alot just instaled a 7 inch screen radio with ur help 👍
Perfect video. Exactly what I needed . Thank you very much.
Cheers for the vid, it allowed me to remove my radio to get my serial number to unlock my radio! :D Worth noting that the section to the right of the radio at 1:49 was very tough to unhinge but my Elantra is a 2003 model so it's had 12 years of not moving :p
Thanks going to attempt to hook up this Boss radio in by myself wiring harness looks like the hardest part
I'm not a mechanic by any means and have never done anything even close to replacing a car stereo. I watched your video relentlessly and it made the whole process a piece of cake. Explaining how to crimp and attach the wiring helped tremendously. Thank you very much for the straightforward and easy tutorial!
From Venezuela, very helpful thank you!
awesome you rock and that was definitely a perfect choice of song at the end.
Thanks a lot, I'm getting my first car which is an 03' elantra and was curious how to do this because some people would charge ridiculous amounts. Anyways, thanks!!
Really well done. You should do more.
this video made life easier, thanks bro
Great job thank you I’ll see what happened with my installation tomorrow
Thank you! Really needed this
How 'bout when I finally installed my radio, the music that was playing was also A Michael Jackson song! What a coincidence lol! Thanks for the vid, man 👍
Like your comment about how expensive the Butt Connector Pliers were. Sounds like you spent a lot for this tool. Great Video. Won't need my friend after all to do this for me. Will probably take me twice as long but I can do this.
There's a mistake in your title. This only applies to '01-'06. The '00 Elantra was part of the '96-'00 series.
this video was helpful in the installation I just performed. I appreciate you making it. spot on. thank you!

Thanks, Im glad it helped!
Great video! Helped with dash trim removal. However, if you have a 2006 Elantra, there is no bracket running from the radio to the storage bin. You will almost certainly need the faceplate adapter. Shame, because while the mechless audio system cost me $29, the adapter was $28. :-/
Thank you! This really helped me out!
Do you have to put the pocket back on cause I got a radio that is kinda big but the website told me it would fit. I definitely don’t think it would fit if I put the pocket on there with it tho
I find quite ridiculous the fact that you have to remove the entire dashboard to get to the radio. Oh well, it's still better than some cars in which you have to buy third party pieces which has the standard DIN slots to fit an aftermarket stereo because the original radio is embedded to the dashboard.

Back in the 80's car stereo theft was a very popular crime. After that they made stereos more easily removable (so you could pop them out when you left the car and take them with you.) but nobody wanted to carry a whole stereo around and this solved very little. After that it seems they made radios a 15 step precess to remove.

I’m saying, all these extra steps 😩😩
thank you very much for the details
Thank you very much. This video was very useful
This rocks. great job!
Do you know where I can find the metal brackets you point out at 3:39? I bought the car used and I'm going from aftermarket back to stock. The person who installed the aftermarket used a dash kit, so I do not have the brackets (altthough I do have the pocket).
Can you take out the radio part only and plug in another radio like use the same box but just another radio?
Hi - have been able to - NOT without a LOT of struggle however, loosen the dashboard console but, angle is TERRIBLE for me to effectively access, disconnect two remaining power junctions from EITHER bucket seat - one appears to have its clip, other I can't see ANY sign of it; stick shift needs to be MOVED with emergency brake on and key in ignition each time.....might you have advice as to separating, unfreezing those plugs? May try a recommendation of needle-nose pliers to apply maximum pressure on the former's.....
thanks for the video! Turns out no store anywhere carries the Hyundai stereo wiring harness so I had to order online and wait another day.
Will a 2 din radio fit if you take out the pocket under the radio
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just changed my radio to a kenwood kdc 255u. Would you happen to know how to do the sane thing to a 98 mitsubishi diamante
hi, do you know the name of the little bulb in the cluster, heater panel in the same hyundai (elantra 2003) with the green cover???
If you're on the passenger side you look on top of the dashboard where those two long vents are there's a round button on the right side for the 2003 what is that button for
Great video, thanks!! Will a Double Din radio fit in place of the plastic pocket using the same bracket?
Great video, easy to follow, sad thing is the plastic support were you screw the radio is broken dont know what to do to fix it... any ideas?
Pro-tip, cut wires at a staggered length. So you don't end up with a mass of connectors, in one spot.
great video...And well edited.
Where did the 2nd harness come from...? The aftermarket one from the package.... And the 2nd from?
תודה,ביצועים מקצועים,סרט יפה.
So the butt connectors I have are 16-22 gauge, will that work or short it out
What type of material were the butt connectors that you used?
hey can you tell me how to differentiate between the wires there is 2 yellow ones, 2 green ones and whatever other colours are the exact same how do u differentiate
Could I keep the pocket off and install a touch screen receiver in my 05?
Liked, subbed and shared on our social media.
Could you put a double din radio in, foregoing the littlr bucket?
Would this procedure be very similar to a 00' Sonata?
How are you supposed to get the panel far up enough to pull all those plugs
Just to clarify, you put the first wire in the butt connector and crimp it, and then put the matching wire in the other end of the connector and crimp it? You don't need to wrap the two wires together themselves before putting them in the connector and crimping them? I just want to make sure that I'm doing it correctly before I start. Thanks!
Does this work the same way for a 2Din stereo?
Hey do you recall having any luck playing a burned CD-R on the stock head unit? I think my stereo is about dead, it will play a regular CD but often takes reinserting a few times to work. My burned discs are stuck with error 6. Thank you for this guide, I'm going to need a new one in it very soon, just got my 2006 model the other day.
I took my car to the mechanic and he installed the new stereo and in fact before taking the car, I did see this video of yours and it was me who informed the mechanic to follow this procedure as he was clueless on how to take out the old stereo. But after installing the stereo everything is working fine until that night when I went out, I figured out the dashboard backlights were gone. Not sure what happened...
What are the measurements for the new radio? I want to make sure I buy a replacement that fits!
Do 6" speakers fit in an 06 Elantra??? Or just 6 3/4???
Why are you connecting the stereo harness to the radio harness?
How did he put it in I’m lost. You buy one of the stereo wires but then shows him connecting it to another?
will any cd player work to replace the old one?
Thank you. Very helpful.
Cool vid. Any idea if I can add a auxiliary port or Bluetooth directly to the back of the radio?
What if I want a large touch screen one like fir the Ford Explorer
Is it possible to install a 2 Din stereo in this car?
