Hi, I'm Rich Severson. I started this channel all the way back in 2006 because I love to play and teach guitar! I have been teaching guitar for more than 50 years and have developed hundreds of lessons that are dedicated to serious guitar players who love jazz, blues, fingerstyle, bebop, country, and more. My channel is loaded with guitar concepts that I have learned and fine-tuned over the years and they include a lot of tips, tricks, and even some short-cuts to get you playing like a pro. I also love guitars and have a lot of them. I collect them and buy and sell them all the time. I love talking about guitars and as you can see I love comparing the sounds of some of the most expensive models of Gibson, Heritage, Eastman, and Guild guitars. I also play tons of gigs with some amazing players and love to feature them on my channel as well. You can find links to all my websites below! Thanks for checking out my channel! Please share & subscribe!

Seeing Bruce Forman.. Wow man!
Wes. You are really doing some magnificent work here man. Really great stuff. Best to you and your dad. Im gonna make it to this thing you all do one of these days
I'm glad they talked a little and compared this to the Eastman guitar. I'm trying to decide whether to get this or an Eastman 503. can't decide....
Was this GB 10 made in Japan?
Hi, I own a 2014 Ibanez AS153-TQS. Specs wise (to me) it compares to the Gibson 347. Did you ever play an Ibanez AS153? Do you know how it compares to the 347? Kind regards from Belgium ;-)
Start up your engine he reminds me of someone
In order to decide if an ES 150 is a guitar to play blues or jazz on you should ask guys like Kirk Fletcher or Duke Robillard. The 150 is very versatile.
how does this guitar compare to the AR503? It's so hard to really distinguish and judge if it's that much better.
The first question i'd ask to anyone charging $4,300 for their Guitars would be, is it better than a Heritage? They're the best i've ever heard and they don't even cost that much, most of the time.
How much are these? You'd do way better with an Eastman. Ok less than $500
Set pickup and tunomatic bridge. No question. Sounds much warmer.
Great job on the video Wes! I’d love to join you, Rich and everyone else there! Looks like a fun time for sure!
Would the bud 10 be suitable for gigging and restaurants with a bass piano and drums? Of course play the guitar and I'm thinking of buying the bud 10
Yes very well use the coupon code guitarcollege to get a discount from Henricksen
No issues, either is BEAUTIFUL. People need to get a hold on reality.
Sounds fine but you can hear the low action and too much bias on the pick up. These big boys deserve to have the acoustic side come out in force.
I like the cutaway even if I don't play that high up the neck all the time. It's beautiful.
Funny I've been working up Killing me Softly and stumbled upon your video because I was also looking at various amp solutions. Nice playing. You must be using flat wounds on that L5 - sounds so quiet and silky. I like your compact and efficient movement across the fretboard. That ES-150 looks just like mine that I sold regrettably. My go-to arch top is a blonde Martin CF-1. Cheers.
Wonderful playing effortless so smooth congrats. Mine is a sunburst from 2002. The best guitar I have ever played. I put elixir 11 round not flat to be more versatile
Great work Wes! I think I better grab a spot before your video floods you with applications 😎
I LOVE 347s 🥰 … Did you fit the Bigsby/have it fitted, yourself; or did you purchase it that way … ? Full, clear sound - my favourite. Incidentally, DF pups are underrated, I think?
Wonderful job Wes!!! Bravo!!
I'm a beginner and interested in next year's workshop, but a few times in the video the sheet music was shown and it looks as if it's all in standard notation. What about schmucks like me who can't read music and can only read TABS?
Learn how to read lol you have a year
We can get you the sheet music in Tab... but would encourage you to learn how to read.
@@RichSeversonGuitar thanks so much. Yes, I should learn to read standard notation. My list of things to learn is loooong.
Very interesting. What a chance to attend such an event when you are interested by jazz guitar. Hope to attend one day. Regards from Quebec
Je vous le souhaite sincèrement. Faut se faire plaisir dans la vie. 👍
Great video Wes!
Wow! that looks like a really fabulous time. If I lived in America, I'd be signing up for the next one.
Great video Wes and Rich!!!!
Wes some of your solo voiceover spots have issues with the audio. Great video!!!
Very nice, Wes and Rich!
Great video thanks
I just ordered mine this morning. Can't wait. Great video
Nice tone and playing, what is the amp you use here ?
For my ears, listening through good speakers, the Heritage sounds a tiny bit more acoustical, whereas the Gibson sounds like the ideal electric jazz arch top; Of the two I certainly 'take' the Gibson.
I'm not really into jazz but I can tell what a lovely sound you made and possibly quite nice as back ground music, anyway both pickups to me sounded very similar you'd be happy with either.
Forget about the guitar! This guy is a premier league musician.
Doesn't this make the pickups closer to the strings? Should they be lowered? Is this responsible for the bright tone?
Do you mind sharing the name of that strap? Love it!!
Gorgeous little Gibson. They sound incredible!
I'm interested in finding a mid-60's Blond ES 175.
Beautiful playing.
Nice❤
❤Super cool! Beautiful sound!
Great playing … I’m looking forward exploring this channel.
Very good about the famous US makers ! If you are interested I compare the direct sound of 16 famous guitars used in Jazz / Blues ( with european !) Videos called PURE GUITARS here : kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2Shz89xYNPeqpM.htmlsi=1K9Od1hgM_9A9bph Musical greetings from France !
Barry Zwieg taught me the Lady Bird at my first camp. Been listening to Chet Baker In Milan. First tune, Lady Bird.
Love that song, your presentation is like gold to my ears. How is it that you know the chords to that song the way you do?
in the 1st lick, you're playing B natural in the C minor 7 arpeggio. ¿Shouldn't be B flat instead?
Schallers seem more stout and yet tame. A bit refined but very buttoned up. The Duncans seem more crisp with micro bloom and a quick sparkle like grab. There's more movement in the Duncan tone. Very enjoyable music all around.
👍👍👍. Beautiful tones.
Rich, have you ever played the Ibanez HR? If so, what are your thoughts on it and how does it differ fro the Gibson and the Epiphone??
I guessed right. The fender overall sounds more fat and rounded tone, still bright but not as sharp as the hb. I like it more.. the hb is not bad at all though, maybe with better pickups it could match the fender. I would guess the hb yas ceramic pickups against alnico on the fender. I liked more the distortion tone on the bridge pickup of the hb though. The fender is a bit muddier compared to it.. now, teles are the most simple guitars around. The fender is 10x more expensive but not 10x better for sure. Great comparison.
