If you really want a ferry with views, weather but ordinary but okay food and accommodation try Navimag from Puerto Natales to Puerto Montt or reverse. 4 days 3 nights. 100mph blasts, fog, flat calm, 5m swell on the Pacific and blazing sun. All in the one trip.

Looks like a good price for what you got… shame the cabin looked a bit dated… love the hot tub though! (I always thought the stena britannica and hollandica were the biggest car ferries (Harwich - hook of Holland route) but I’m often wrong! 😜)

The "fancy" dinner (of course just €30) didn't impress me much in the menu (which I guessed at, in Spanish/Italian) nor in photos but I'm glad Paul enjoyed it. I suppose to a degree you're paying for waiter service and hopefully fun singing entertainment! Often on an airplane you get a much more florid menu and more disappointing food in cramped quarters!

Viking Glory in Turku-Mariehamn-Stockholm route is little bit shorter cruiseferry, but in gross tonnages it is bigger. It's also "newer generation" - it started it's service in 2022. When it comes to interior, my opinion is that Viking Glory is far more like cruiseship than this one, although it is also a passenger car ferry, or "cruise ferry". I have been in Viking Glory and although the ship is gorgeous, the most beuatiful thing is her route between three archipelagos. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Viking_Glory

@@Paul_Lucas To get most out of it, I recommend 23 hour minicruise for example from Stockholm; Viking Glory derparture from Stockholm in the evening, arrives in Turku in the next morning and is back to Stockholm in the evening. It will make short stop-over in Åland both ways. Viking Glory turnaround time is only about an hour in Stockholm and in Åbo so it is interesting to watch from the ship how - at best - almost 3,000 passengers and hundreds of cars and dozens of trucks are driven off the ship and new ones are taken in - all of that in about an hour. Also in day time in Marienhamn the turnaround time is about 15 minutes and it's there in same time with Viking Grace which operates in the same route but with the opposite timetable. There are "picnic cruisers" which change the ship in the Marienhamn from for example Viking Glory to Viking Grace or from Viking Grace to Viking Glory at the same time so they make like "half minicruise" and will we back at the port of departure in the same evening (they have departured from there in the same morning).

10 years ago we were booked to go from Holyhead to Dublin with Irish Sea ferries, but come the day of their ships were not sailing. They rebooked us on the Stena ferry, and it was definitely 1990s mall vibes on board. Rough going so we pretty much just parked ourselves in one spot with a nice view and tried to not lose our breakfast… since eating lunch was out of the question.

The ferry from Bilbao (Spain) to Rosslare (Ireland) takes 30 hours! Very comfortable ship. In March 2023 I had to make an emergency trip, but strikes in France meant no flights and no fuel for a drive to Cherbourg to take a shorter sea route. And yes, the voyage across the Bay of Biscay lived up to its reputation. But the ship was very stable and minimised any motion discomfort. I have often used the Cherbourg/Dublin route. That takes 24 hours. Note I should have mentioned that I live near the Spanish frontier, and, by chance had a full tank for the car to make it easily into Spain where fuel was readily available.
