Hey man, sick video and great conversion! 😍 I‘m thinking off a similar conversion to a sea ray srv 220 cc. Did you encounter any issues with the stern drive? My potential boat has a alpha one gen 1, thus I’m a bit afraid of braiking it with the om606‘s tourqe? And how much money did you spend on the cooling? I’m not sure if I should go for an water cooled exhaust manifold including a heat exchanger or if I should get a separate exchanger or both. Best, Leo :)

Beautiful work🤩 I am dreaming of taking on a similiar project one day. As you are using alpha are you shutting off the engine before you shift it in gear and then start the engine in gear? Here on KZread you can see another OM606 marine engine from Jari Kåhlman who implemented a system to make the engine shut off for a split second during shifting in order to protect the outdrive. To my understanding similiar system is implemented from factory to mercruiser engine + alpha outdrive systems which is called mercruiser shift switch. Bravos don't have this feature from factory as they are more sturdy. In case you knew all this and shift the alpha when engine is running, you are not worried about it breaking or you don't think it will break?
@KacperR76 ай бұрын
Thank you! Currently not doing anything to prevent damage while shifting into gear. As the idle rpm's are fairly low, it doesn't give that big of a "clunk" when shifting into gear, feels similar to when the merc engine was in. But certainly something we thought about! The mercruiser switch could be implemented, onto the solenoid that is used for switching off the engine, just running the signal for a split second to further drop RPM, and we might play around with that this summer!
@guido05826 ай бұрын
Great video. I've been tossing up something very similar... is the engine stock internally or has it been rebuilt?? Those Mercury V8's are reliable but very lazy in terms of power. Once again great job
@KacperR76 ай бұрын
Thank you Engine is fully stock internally, that's also another reason we aren't pushing it past 300hp. As it would put way too much unnecessary stress, on the engine and outdrive. They are known to be pretty reliable around 450hp in cars, but being in a boat with full load all the time, I don't think it would last.
@guido05826 ай бұрын
