    Thank You for another great video! The one take away that we get from this video is that it is ok to take photos on a bright blue-sky day instead of the dramatic sky's we all look for. Loved the photos and your attention to share the details of creek crossings this time of year and how sketchy they can be in the quest for wildflower photography in the spring. Also, thanks for the 20% off on K&F filters, Jan and I ordered quite a few to try them in the future! Bucket list trips is to go to Iceland! We really looked at your trip coming up hard but are going to Maui again instead.

I'd love to go back to Israel and Jordan (although right now isn't the best) and be able to photograph it new with digital and all the things I've learned in the last 26 years.

    Luminar Neo still does not support Nikon High Efficiency format RAW files. They will not process refunds if you purchased expecting file support like you get from all the other apps like Lightroom. They promise they will add the support in the "future" but will not let you pause your subscription until that happens. NIKON SHOOTERS STAY AWAY.

    This is about Luminar Neo and panoramas I just did some Astro Milky Way panoramas that I put into PTGui and needed some hours to get points in all images to other images. So after a long time and very tired I put into PS via Lr edits to all images synced. Very surprised that the panorama just popped up completely not once but in several options. I tried in Luminar Neo and got only one image?????

  • @jamesparker9312
    @jamesparker9312Ай бұрын

    I think I understand your question. Every time you send an image to Photoshop from Lightroom, it will ask you if you want to edit a copy. When you say "yes", do your edits in PS then save it, it makes a copy of the photo - you should see the file name change to "filename-Edit" the first time, then "filename-Edit-Edit" the second time, etc. When you stich a panorama directly in Luminar Neo, it simply creates the one image.

  • @iandavis1355
    @iandavis1355Ай бұрын

    Excellent video...thanks!! I get the Adobe photographer package (LR & PS) and I often use them together, particularly when it comes to removing unwanted items. Additionally, I shoot a lot of HDR shots that LR handles quite easily. Does Neo process HDR images? Also, will Neo handle the images in the LR catalog? I really don't want to lose my edits. It sure is a big jump changing your "go to" software.

  • @JamesParkerPhotography
    @JamesParkerPhotographyАй бұрын

    Yes - Luminar Neo will do HDR merge as well. It’s a separate module though and not included in base software. You can send your edited images from LR to Luminar and back no problem. Operates like a plug in from inside PS or LR.

  • @iandavis1355
    @iandavis1355Ай бұрын

    @@JamesParkerPhotography Thanks for getting back to me, James. If I ditch LR, are the LR catalogs still available and usable by Neo??

  • @JamesParkerPhotography
    @JamesParkerPhotographyАй бұрын

    @@iandavis1355 No - Luminar cannot read/load the LR catalogs. However, if you quit Adobe, you are able to access the LR catalogs and export images from it (with your edits intact) forever. You just don't have access to the develop module.

  • @JamesParkerPhotography
    @JamesParkerPhotographyАй бұрын

    Thanks for the comment. I went back and looked again - while I'm not seeing a clear blue cast on the ND64, I will agree there may be a slight tint when I zoomed in on the log. Or it could be that the filter added a little saturation to the image that gave it that impression. Or it could be a white balance issue. Overall, it would be simple to adjust as needed in post should you want to warm it up. I will continue to test these and update with any findings.

  • @craigpiferphotography
    @craigpiferphotographyАй бұрын

    I love the magnetic feature for ease of use, but I do with they were a little stronger. I bought a K&F kit a couple years ago that has a CPL, 10 stop, and UV. I've had at least one occasion that the filter fell off with a slight bump, but I've also had other times where it held on very well. My kit didn't come with the lens cap, but my plan, which hasn't happened yet, has been to get a 3 and a 6 stop ND which would each include the adapter ring and the lens cap. The additional adapter rings would prevent the need to move it from lens to lens.

  • @JamesParkerPhotography
    @JamesParkerPhotographyАй бұрын

    That’s odd. I found the magnets almost too strong. I do wish they made a kit that had CPL, 3,6, and 10 stop. That would be perfect.

  • @stkuj
    @stkujАй бұрын

    I found the same thing. On several occasions the filter fell off. I’ve moved to the Freewell M2 system. A $150 price point for the kit was a deal, IMO.

    I am not so happy the way Luminar Neo 1.19.1 handles the deleted images! most of the time after I am done editing photos and finished exporting i would like to remove them from catalog! Luminar Neo moves them to Lumiinar trash and if you empty trash Luminar moves everything to system trash rather than just removing it from Luminar! I did not know that, luckily I did not empty the system trash and was able to recover my images. I like the HDR extension which was included his time (change of policy! good move) but it lacks some the features that Aurora HDR had. Tons of useless presets and other stuff came with my purchase too! in general I am not so enthused with the presets that came with Luminar Neo! I think Luminar 2018 and Luminar 4 had much better presets.

  • @tonyalderton9885

    Thanks James, that was really interesting. I've been using Luminar Neo for some time now, as my Lightroom Classic V.6 is somewhat long in the tooth and I am not prepared to make a subscription to Adobe to upgrade. You have put my mind at rest to a degree, as I too found Neo focus stacking to be near useless for my work case. I tend not to use a tripod when I am out on the fly, so although I try to keep the camera as still as possible, inevitably there will always be slight movement. I previously used Adobe Photoshop, which did a far better job. Let's hope Skylume take notice of your criticism as I really like this photo editing software.

    Hi James - total newbie question, sorry. How are you getting multiple photos of exactly the same thing in different exposures before you use HDR merge? Does that happen in camera at the point of shooting or during import, or in LN itself?

  • @JamesParkerPhotography
    @JamesParkerPhotography2 ай бұрын

    Merging to HDR requires multiple exposures that you take beforehand. It’s also called bracketing. You create these in camera by changing the shutter speed. Most cameras can automatically do this with 3, 5, 7, and even 9 photos. I never use more than 5.
