Can you pls play with another person so we can see what a winning set looks like?
I always come back to this playthrough for this scenario. Great reference.
Thank you!
Is this a good game for my 6 year old if she is an avid gamer?
It would depend on how comfortable she is with worker placement, pattern building, and open drafting games. Building the honeycomb and placing bee workers to trigger economic benefits can be challenging to play well competitively. Taken on their own, a 6 year old can handle each mechanic. It is the combination of ALL these mechanics that increases the game's complexity. With adults, I would not play this game if the adult could not handle Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Settlers, Pandemic, Stone Age, Wingspan, or Splendor. Everdell, Istanbul, and Five Tribes are close in complexity.
The treasure map gives you 1 coin at the end of your turn, not end of the game.
That is important and could possibly generate a lot of coins. Thank you for pointing this out.
Looks like a fun light weight game! Thanks for showing it!
You are welcome. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
CORRECTION: at 3:40 a player will not immediately lose BUT a player will lose who has at least 3 Gunners at the end of the game. This gives a player time to flip a Gunner over with a Monkey before the game ends. Also the Treasure Map generates ONE coin after EACH turn a player is possession of the map.
CORRECTION: at 3:16 a player will not immediately lose BUT a player will lose who has at least 3 Gunners at the end of the game. This gives a player time to flip a Gunner over with a Monkey before the game ends. Also the scores would have been different as the Treasure Map generates ONE coin after EACH turn a player is possession of the map.
The last pirate game I played was Extraordinary Adventures : Pirates which is a fun racing game--the art is cartoony like this one. I like that the tiles in this game are double-sided, and are really varied, but I feel like it would be over too quickly, and that's a bummer.😂 It does look fun, though!
Yes, very fun. Play two different boards if it ends too quickly. Thanks for watching and commenting.
At the end of the first era, for some reason you didn’t make one move after buying the last contract
Thank you for pointing this out
FYI When you take the top card of the discard pile, you do not get to use its power according to the rules, you just get the points if any…
Thank you for watching and taking the time to point this out.
You are most welcome 😊
On round 2 she put four 5 pointers up and only took a 10 back. She should have taken a 20 right?
Good catch. Yes, Julie should have taken a 20 at the 18:00 minute mark. So our end scores would have been closer but the winner would have been the same. Thank you for taking the time to point this out and for watching.
CORRECTION: A player can only draw ONE Help Card with 1 of 4 of the player's actions EACH turn.

I'm sensing some "Horrified" vibes. The art is amazing.
Definitely. Our upcoming review will discuss the similarities
Thanks for the how to play, I've been wanting to try this on BGA
You are welcome!
Woohoo! I bought this game to play after The Thing on Halloween. It looks super fun--makes me excited for Halloween to come. Thank you for the playthrough! Happy Friday, to you and Jule!
You are welcome. Thank you for watching an taking the time to comment. Happy Friday to you as well!
Can’t wait for the playthrough of this one!
I just bought this yesterday at barnes and noble. Excited to play it
Thanks for playing the game! Good relic management.Just a note that the game is also free to print and play (pdf files are in Board Game Geek)
Debating which game to get first.... this one or the other Texas Chainsaw game. This game seems to have a few more fun options.
Agreed. The Trick or Treat version requires house rules to make it more challenging and replayable.
The reason we put the punchboard outside the box is so that the insert could be designed to hold the punched components snuggly, rather than leave room for the punchboards you would recycle.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
😂😂LMAO@Whether they're men or not, really cracked me up! Thank you for this unboxing. I've been eyeing this so that my friend and I have several filler games for after a long game. I also don't know anything about the characters--I just love the Japanese Samurai theme! It looks fun!
Agreed. Excellent system. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Hey there! Thanks so much for posting this. :) I hope you’ll do a gameplay review as well.
You are welcome and thank you for watching! Your comment will help us prioritize reviewing sooner than later.
We had the same reaction to the confusing sub par narrative and lack of the letter F!!! It's also not implied how to end this quest. This quest seems like a filler episode from The Walking Dead. Thanks for posting!
You are welcome. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
The replacement tray has insufficient card space, if you sleeved all your cards. It also feel very flimsy compared to the original one. Maybe I'll try creating one in Blender, and 3D printing my own.
I think the figure holes on the lower tray are recesses to allow the figures in the upper tray to fit when they are stacked.
I found out they are for the Dastardly and Muttley which I acquired separately later.
@@GamesRuleDoctor Wow! That's really cool,. Very jealous, I only have the standard edition.
Thanks for the review !!
Thank you for watching!
My 10 year old had not trouble paying it. I got the game for a great price of $2.
Thanks for reviewing our game! Like your rating system! We got some expansions in the works so maybe we can level up ;-)
We look forward to seeing them and making videos about them. BTW, the rating system is from BGG.
Received my copy today, will play tomorrow. Rulebook says to reset HP and discard leftover items when setting up for new stage II or III.
You are correct for the 1.03 rules that I just viewed on the publisher website. This play through uses the 1.0 rules which you can view here if interested: docs.google.com/document/d/1QHfVCG97MY-Nfb4EDYiMPh6cJI4zOsXPzkoEanT4BWg/edit?usp=sharing
Was planning on playing this with the wife tonight and wanted to make sure I knew the rules. Really appreciated your video
You are welcome. Thank you for watching.
My son just bought this game .. We like it but not sure of the rules...
This is under twenty bucks on Amazon, and I think it will be a great filler game on Halloween game night--my kids are grown and married, so this would be for me and my friends😂. Thank you for the review and for stating that yes, this is a fun game for adults, too! I enjoy your reviews and love how sweet you and your wife are to eachother when learning difficult games!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to let us know. We bought two copies at the sale price for our two adult boys in case it goes out of print.
Thanks for the video! Greetings from Argentina
You are welcome. Thank you for watching.
How I understood the rules the victim can not check their line of sight until they are all done moving, so if they move for both actions then only after the second movement if they only move in one action then they could check after that move. Thoughts?
Thank s for watching and taking the time to ask. According to page 4, you check LOS in a straight line after EACH "Move [up to] 4 spaces" or "'Move through a window" action. NOTE: you must decide facing before checking LOS. You MUST always take two actions and complete the first one before taking the second one. Actions can be repeated.
@@GamesRuleDoctor after reading it again it makes since. On that same page in bold letters it mentions LOS is not checked during movement and I thought it was saying it can only be checked after both movements if you used both actions to move 8.
Hi I hope you have a good day
Nice ROBOTECH reference! LOL!
Thank you for this playthrough! I keep reading how easy the rules are, but the rulebook isn't straightforward about what a round looks like from beginning to end, and important rules are scattered, instead of being on one page. I was having difficulty learning how to play! I appreciate your reasoning behind playing the co-op variant and leaving out Cthulhu who might be too extreme to battle for only 2 player games. I'd rather enjoy playing the game so that I'll want to replay it--house rules are always welcome. I gave away Robinson Crusoe due to the difficulty level sucking the soul out of game night!😂
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Yeah, we sold our Robinson as well for the same reasons.
Q: if you pick another destination after completing a route on your turn and the new destination is a route you already have completed, do you get to play down that card or do you have to wait until your next turn to play it? Asking for a friend…
The designer, Alan Moon, has weighed in on this: "You can claim a newly drawn ticket immediately. You can do it several times if you are lucky, and even win the game this way" ; i.e., you immediately put it down and redraw where it's possible to draw another completed ticket... 12th post here boardgamegeek.com/thread/1623382/picking-up-a-ticket-that-is-already-completed
Interestingly i had exactly the opposite feeling about the two versions... 😅 I think the northStar version is much more in depth with the theme and it transmits very well the feeling of survival and struggle, in particular with (fairly predictable) moments of plenty and scarcity of food, fuelling the competition between species, sometimes even your own! You can also change your traits to adapt to new needs, you can control population and body size trying to get more points but then learning that you have to be careful or you'll be without food, etc... there is so much more about the topic. instead the new game feels like a watered down version that is just a general card-battle game which only marginally touches the theme of the evolution.
Thank you for watching and sharing your detailed analysis.

Another helpful play-thru and I saw the high rating on your review video. I can get the standard or KS version form my FLGS Ihave a 25% Off coupon. They had this in their email newsletter The glow-in-the dark dice and theme drew me in. The set collection math doesn't. But your tie-breaker game made it interesting down the stretch. A fluorescent blacklight bolt works well for glow-in-the dark.
Thank you for sharing that the video was helpful. We bought a second copy at DTW flea market to gift to one of our sons who also enjoyed the game.
On the Treasure Mimic, you eventually ended up playing it correctly. I think the part you missed was that the room wouldn't get discarded if when FAIL the Intellect check. The first time you PASS, it gets discarded. And you are correct about the Rest Phase, it always happens after a room is Resolved.
Like pulling teeth ....
Did yours come with a booklet of any kind? I was just about to start playing with this pack and didn't see one. Thanks!!!
I showed everything it came with. Miniature packs from Cmon usually don't come with booklets unless it has tiles or terrain.
Thanks for that tutorial/let's play. I think the theme of this game is really niche so there's not lot of tutorial video. I assum I can use what I learned here and apply it to the main game.
Thank you! There may be only differences in card interactions.
If you look at the scenario the mounted bowmen with haste 2 .?
Where did you find the FAQ?

Doesn’t the narrow room give you exp?
Yes, I membered at 58:36.
Looks like Julie the Ranger is doing really well!! I love your visual arrangement with the board neatly aligned in the top-right cards on left-side and pip of you two in upper-left. You got a slick card overlay going on too to zoom in on the cards. Everything comes through looking amazing and I can't wait to see what happens on levels 4 & 5. I agree with you about the font we used on the numbers. They are kind of unclear. We can look at making those more visible on future content.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and feedback!
