The term 'degraded land' is the code for identifying an ignorant farmer. There are well-established and proven methods to turn any dirt into rich soil with a host of long-term benefits. Starting from knowing how to produce fungal dominant compost (and extracts), then how to apply it (disc deep) accompanied by immediately seeding these narrow furrows with a multi-species mix of grasses and legumes to get the underground life kickstarted. Repeat each year or season until it runs itself. Expanded across the nation rain will increase, what rain falls will be quickly absorbed in situ and droughts (and floods) will be reduced. ps: There is no climate emergency and Regen Ag (above) is the solution to all man-made soil disasters.
