I thought we decided not to do full planks? What changed?

Man... these videos really show your level of DIY. C'mon man. Idk what state you're in. But it rains anywhere at some point. Where will that water go from the deck? Just attaching the 2x8 ledger to the house without any membrane on the house as a separation and protection, or deck flashing is insane. You have all this money and equipment at your disposal. Please add proper building knowledge to that list. No hate.

How much was this vs regular pavers? It looks like the grids + 8 bricks = $24.95. So it cost $5,613.75 with 225 grids?

with the gap you're going to have if you don't put a rug or something over the door you'll get a "breeze" or at least some kind of draft...besides the rug will hide the door better.

Check out SOSS hidden hinges for the next hidden door project. Beveled edges as someone else mentioned are a good idea to hide edges better and work well with the SOSS hidden hinges. Good job and good video. Thanks.

I think that you made the right decision with your neighbor. GOOD neighbors are hard to come by, and with yours being also older people, they are just used to the norm, not a lot of change, etc. Both families being good neighbors is paramount, as we are in these kind of “relationships” whether we want them or not. That is not to say that everyone should cave to their neighbors either, but they do have to live next to the pace and you have to live next to them. I have the same issue with some stuff with my neighbor, but keeping a level head, I’ve managed to have a great relationship with them going on 7 years. He’s 82 and I’m 53, so I believe he’s entitled to think he owns six more feet of land than he actually does, but even at my age (Yes, I do want to say “Um, the survey is very different…”, but I’m not looking for hard feelings or anything other than kindness and for them to know they can count on me as well. Again, he’s 82, so if I can be positive, so it won’t hurt me. I’ll have it resurveyed when I can… sometime down the road. Great color too. Nice attractive changes to the property.

Awesome job brother. I’ve been watching remodeling videos because I’m taking a crack at doing our bathroom. Love how it came out and all the tips. Only thing I would change is use Kerdi board. It’s a dream to work with compared to the cement board just a bit more $$$. Again great job thanks for the tips keep up the good work 🛠️

Rule #1 for hidden entrances is that the opening mechanism is also secret! You missed a great opportunity with the table/desk next to it. You could have concealed something in there that opens the hedge. Either that mechanical or something with a remote control elektromechanical. With an electromechanical trigger, you caneasily hide it in a book that should be moved or something else magically!
