    What a great lesson! This was very relevant for me as I am naturally using a lot of lateral movement forward and producing good launch conditions. My concern is that not only is my lower body and mass moving forward, my head is also moving forward over the ball quite a bit (lack of side tilt?). I have been working on keeping my head more behind the ball. Do you have any comments on the risks of excessive lateral head movement with this mass shift to lead side?

    That’s because you are sending the energy from the backswing straight back in the other direction rather than allowing your transition to remove the kinetic energy. A pause can be very helpful because it allows the force you create in the downswing to go unresisted.

    Thank you! With the popularity of the “super rotational and drop” swing models these days, I have so many students that never get the cog of the lower body far enough left. Even if you’re the best rotator on Earth, it’s not going to work very well for you if the lead hip never gets to the wall 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Curious your thoughts on the relationship between getting over your lead leg and stance width. Recently I realized my stance was wider than I thought after doing some mirror training. I was having trouble getting my weight to the lead leg and staying balanced resulting in fats and thins. bringing my feet closer together seems to have helped with, balance, consistency, and ease of strike.

  • @CameronMcCormickGolf

    I love a narrower base for this very reason

  • @CameronMcCormickGolf
    @CameronMcCormickGolf12 күн бұрын

    The only issue is if it’s overly narrow you sacrifice some ability to create swing speed via horizontal forces (think baseball pitcher launching themselves down the mound)

    @@CameronMcCormickGolf I think for me I went from just outside shoulder width apart to at or just inside. Realized what felt like was correct was actually a bit of an over exaggeration. I think that is a common problem I have with online learning. Trying to create a feeling and over exaggerating it on the course. mirror training has been really helpful in showing correcting that for me

    Should I focus on lowering my launch angles (dynamic loft) to improve better ball striking with my irons? Right now, my avg score is 90-100. I tested myself at the range today and with a 7 iron, I get… 80-85mph club head speed 25-30 degree launch angles I am ~6 months into golf, and I’d like to see how good I can get. You mean by lifting the arc height relative to the ground?

  • @adavis8423
    @adavis842315 күн бұрын

    @@CameronMcCormickGolf Yes, the arc height feels much closer to my center vs the backswing, some might call it holding lag with wrist and not the trail arm. The increased weight of the club and shaft droop allows me get to the ground and the club head releases post impact thanksbto the forces applied. The feel is as if the arc on the follow through is tighter as well, this whips the club around into my finish. Think of an object swinging below a stiff spring, as it reaches the bottom of the arc it is technically extended downward but the spring is always wanting to go up. As long as I get to my left side properly the strike is crisp.

    Love the stance width info. How tall is this student? I’m 6’4” and with a shoulder width looking stance center foot to center foot is 18”. Always been told narrower stance to “rotate better”, or “you’ll have a hard time getting pressure to your left side the wider the stance”. 20-22” feels so much better for a 7 iron, and honestly not much narrower for a wedge.
