    I had a question, say I draw a square surface joining 4 lines which lies on the ZX plane i.e vertically. How do I fill in the square surface with a certain color? Using hatch I'm only able to solid fill regions on the UCS plane. I'm pretty new to this, hope u'd help out brother.

  • @VerweyDraftingInc

    So it depends if you're doing 3D or 2D. What can be used in 3D is you can apply a material to the 3D surface, while making sure the visual style you're using in AutoCAD allows "Materials and Textures" to be displayed. For a 2D object, hatching a solid colour is the way to do what you described. One thing you can try is to type in "UCS" into the command bar and go into the plane that you want to fill in (example, instead of doing a "top" view you want "right" view) press enter once you type UCS and then you'll see a bar show up, press the down arrow key on your keyboard and a few options will show up. Use the arrow key to highlight "view" and then press enter. This will change the coordinate system so that it matches up with your work plane. When you do this you should be able to hatch. To switch back simply do the above, except instead of selecting "view" select "global" and press enter. This will bring you back to the normal grid positioning. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for this video! I got no experience in CAD, but I was referred by a family member to a architecture place they work at. They are willing to train anyone for CAD, but I downloaded the free trial and recreated this so I can get some sort of feel on how this works. This isn't as scary or difficult as I thought it would be

    Glad this helped! I will say, this is an extremely simplified floor plan just so you can get a feel for floor plan workflow. If you're going to be doing architecture, I'd recommend taking a look at AutoCAD Architecture. It's AutoCAD but has tools specific to architecture, and everything we did in this video can be done in under a minute as blocks, floors, walls, and even hatching is completed for you to some extent. We'll be posting more advanced work later on when we have the time!

    The main purpose of this tutorial is to get as much information across as we can in under 10 minutes for people who have never used the program before. It is impossible to get a complete understanding of something in 10 minutes! This gives an overview of the functions you can expect to use in AutoCAD 3D. This wasn't meant to be a comprehensive tutorial on every line item, as that would take many hours! If more in depth and specific help is required, please check out our channel for more specific videos! Conversely, if we do not have a video on a topic you would like to see covered, please reach out and let us know what you'd like and we can add it to our queue!

    how do you open the ribbon with all the tools? mine is not "open" also why cant I use feet and inches when creating a square of shape

  • @VerweyDraftingInc
    @VerweyDraftingIncАй бұрын

    To get the ribbon to show up type "RIBBON" in the command bar to turn on the ribbon. If you want to see all the tools its possible the ribbons are in a minimized state. To fix this find the ribbons (such as "home", "solid", "surface", etc) and go all the way to the end of these words. At the end you'll see a solid square (should be white if you're in dark mode) with a triangle/arrow pointing up/down and a dropdown menu right beside it. Click the arrow in the solid coloured box and it should change how your ribbons appear. Let me know if this helps!

    The only issue I can think of is when you are typing in lengths and widths you need to put the ' or " sign in order to make sure AutoCAD knows what units you are talking about. If you don't use the foot or inches sign, depending on your settings, it will default to inches. Let me know if this helps; if not I'll see if I can trouble shoot it for you :)

    This usually occurs when a text style you're using in the dimension style has a height assigned to it. To fix this, type in "Style" into the command line and change the text height of the standard style to 0. You can also change the text style used in the dimension style to one with a height of 0 assigned to it. Hope this helps!

    I saw the system requirements in AUTOCAD site. That I would like to learn is some specific examples of minimum requirements for CPU and if we need and GPU. If a CPU with integrated gpu is enough (example AMD Ryzen 5 5600G) I would like some specific models of AMD or INTEL CPUs

  • @VerweyDraftingInc
    @VerweyDraftingInc3 ай бұрын

    You should be able to run AutoCAD on an integrated graphics card, but it depends on how new the CPU is. Older CPU's will struggle with newer programs. I'd recommend running an Intel I5 4th Generation MINIMUM but I would run a dedicated GPU with it. The more work you do, and the more complex the drawings, the more RAM, VRAM, and CPU Speed you will need. Unfortunately it is not in my area of expertise to provide CPU recommendations, however the AutoDESK website requirements are meant to be a guide for what can run the program and all its features without a lot of performance issues for day-to-day use. I will say you can get away with using older GPU's and CPU's but it depends how old, and how good those pieces of hardware are. You also need to think about how much RAM you have, as AutoCAD can use a lot of it. Hope this helps, and good luck!

  • @vaiosan775

    @@VerweyDraftingInc Thank you. The drawings of my friend are not complex. The minimum CPU (price) I saw that he could use is Ryzen 5 - 5600G that has integrated graphics. I don't want Intel. Are more expensive. I will see new Amd CPU models with intergrades graphics in Ryzen 5 and 7 series.

I'm using AutoCad LT 2024. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong? I do select multiple lines objects when i try this.

  • @VerweyDraftingInc

    I also recall a time when you could do what you described (I could be wrong). However, it seems in newer versions of the program when using "Scale-To-Fit" AutoCAD will scale to fit ALL the objects in Model Space. Personally, I usually select a drawing scale and manually set it. Takes a bit of tweaking sometimes but it works 9.5 times out of 10. If you'd like a video detailing this more just say so and we can get one produced and out ASAP.

    If you want the full experience and the new features you'll have to download the program. AutoCAD Web is a very lightweight program compared to the full release and doesn't have a lot of the new features. I can say though, if you are interested, we are doing out best to get access to an AutoDESK program where we will be able to give out discount coupons for people who want to buy, but have a hard time with costs. We'll keep the community updated on this when and if we can come to a working agreement with AutoDESK.
