Fantastic Game
Has there been any information on the new edition or revamp of dropfleet? Is there any talk of new starter sets or moving some of the resin models to plastic? I've been looking to get into the drop zone universe. Only real problem is the main group in my area is rather far away. I've also been looking into Dystopian Wars.
Basically all of those changes are coming out Summer this year so imminently as far as we know
Been looking for a good Naval type game for a long time and researching Drop Zone Fleet. Not a lot out there right now, but i did see TT Combat is saying there is a new edition or something big happening to Drop fleet this year.
I'm coming to this video pretty late here, but I think this sold me (and even some of my friends!) on Armada. I've always been interested in a tactical ship-based skirmish game, and it's hard to argue with Mantic's success so far. Thanks for the content, looks like I'm going to plan a bit ahead on the next paycheck.
Glad you enjoyed it. Mantic are adding more and more ships to their printing vault too if anyone in your group has a printer that's by far the easiest way now 🙂

How do you fix the powder? Clear Matte Varnish?
Yes I use a rattle can Matt varnish from about 30cm to prevent it blowing off. On massive projects I have used hairspray in the past (don't tell my wife)

Thanks for the Series, even if I have no real interest in Age of Sigmar anymore (that’s shame, as I own 6 fully painted Armies), as the rules churn and burn principle is quite off putting to me. But I’m curious how the spearhead mode will fair with you guys.

I love this game, very tactical, yet simple enough to go fast. My issue is finding people to play with and the quality of the miniatures seem to be behind the competition. I personally wish they could focus more on their plastics and partner with Warcradle to get ahold of their resin process.
Interesting you say this as they have recently announced a new edition of the game with plastic rework on a lot of models to up the quality. Can be challenging to find players for games Leo and I found our shared love of the game together

I think Dropzone is my favourite. That and A Song of Ice and Fire. I have been expanding on my DZC stuff recently. I have been playing the Drop stuff about 7 years and am very excited for a new edition of DFC!
I survived episode 1! My favorite wargame is Sludge ... though I also enjoy Infinity, OPR, Fallout Wasteland Warfare, and Stargrave. And a bit of feedback as someone painting during the show. (But please know I'll keep listening even as it is!) I thought the audio was a bit echo-y, like the mic was placed far from where you guys were talking. Also the music at the end was much louder than the show and I almost put a streak of field grey across a face when it suddenly played. :) Great show though, please keep it up!

Please bear with us, as this was the first one. As for the music, that's all Tom, (I'll get the improvement whip out)

@@TomsTabletopBunker yes that's right, line infantry is typically 3 models on a 40mm base while skirmish, elite, and characters are usually single models per 25mm base though there are multi-base options in a lot of cases too (e.g. a priest with 2 bodyguards can be a single 40mm base or 2 calvary models per base for light calvary). the setting -- alternative history black powder -- is wide open for interpretation so you can really go nuts and mix/kitbash kits to make your army (or in my case, armies) your own. if you buy it, go for the recent standalone version sold on wargame vault that includes the nations expansion for more options. it's definitely a small indie game but the gore and stress mechanisms are simply wonderful.

Loving the battle report for fleet though is there any chance we can get an overview of the fleets before play starts? Otherwise, looks like you were measuring front of base to front of base (at least at the 3 minute mark) it's not much of an impact but at the very least for moving on the table you're missing out on a bit of potential movement as it's all meant to be stem to stem which can make a huge difference for medeas being able to reach the centre sectors on turn 2 Otherwise here's what I picked up on throughout At the 6:00 minute mark was it a second cruiser couldn't doing an active scan? If so it couldn't have turned earlier Were you doing a tweak to the scoring system? Normally scoring is carried out on turns 4 and 6 rather than 2 (12 minute mark) At the 14:00 mark both new orleans would have needed to roll for being crippled as the first one had lost 50% of its hull points (The text on page 22 specifically calls out ships with 4 hull points) 14:40 - ships in atmosphere when destroyed are simply removed from the table without rolling for catastrophic damage (no chain detonating frigates for you all) Page 25 - 3rd paragraph 39:40 - Yes you do combine a squadron of ships Close action against a single target so point defence only triggers once 42:10 - The armour save of the sector itself was missed which could have saved the tanks as they only check for collateral after damage to the sector has been applied 42:40 - Don't forget that New Orleans has a pop gun it could use against the medeas/Echoes. Harsh language might be more impactful but it's there, enough shots from those can (eventually) do something 47:00 - That Medea drops a tank off right after it having been said it's in low orbit. Dropships can only be dropped from atmosphere against sectors (low orbit for space stations) though the Medea does have the atmospheric bombardment rule meaning it's one of 2 ships in the game (that I can immediately think of) which can bombard from the safety of atmosphere. Otherwise, great video and lovely fleets though can we get the occasional wider table shot? I had some difficulty following the action with just the close up shots

Addendum note on the bombardment, any hits taken by sectors cause collateral damage, the wording on it is very goofy and there's still some disagreement
@@halfskeloton They may have tidied up the language at some point, the current wording is "If a sector takes damage and the sector is occupied by ground assets, you must roll for collateral damage" though the position of the paragraph being before the total up hull damage inflicted does muddy things I'll admit. That said the entire thing is going to be moot in about 2 months anyway when we have to drop all this and learn V2 instead XD
