It also helps that Mewtwo feels like it was designed to abuse every quirk of Gen 1. High speed let's it crit 1/4 of the time, Psychic types have no real counter, the move Psychic has a 30% chnace to drop the target's Special, it has access to the insnaely broken Amnesia... It truly is the ultimate Pokemon.

Starting a new game and after setting the difficulty option I get another option asking for classic pokemon. I'm wondering what this option does cause I don't see it in the Google document

I think Winona isn't getting enough credit for what her team offers. Yes, Sunny Day derails Pelipper a bit, but, I think her team is meant to focus on her dual typings and how each flying type has to be dealt with differently. To reference KingK's video on RSE: each flyer has a different weakness/way of handling it. Swellow (RS) punishes you for status strats with Guts, Skarmory is a wall and punishes bringing a rock type, Pelipper is similar to entice you to use an electric type, and then Altaria who surprises you with EQ and Dragon Dance setup. Each pokemon changes her weaknesses, albeit in Emerald she does add tropius which sets sun and solarbeams any water types using an ice beam maybe? It's not an insanely hard fight, but it tries to do something unique which I don't think was given enough credit.

Best pick in gen 1 is Charmander, because you don't find any other fire types as good until late game. You find grass very early in the game, followed by water. It does not take long at all to replace Bulbasaur/Squirtle. You're not finding a suitable replacement for Charmander until you get to 7th gym, unless you want to blow your Eevee on a Flareon instead of Jolteon. For a well rounded team, Charmander is the best pick.

What use does a fire type have though? You already need a flying type, which covers grass and bug, so fire types are pretty useless in gen 1. So why would you want one in the first place? Steel doesn't even exist yet.

Flamethrower is one of the strongest attacks in the game, along with slash, which Char also learns. Char has some of the best stats in the game and can be used as a sweeper. There are several grass/water types you can catch early on that can replace Bulbasaur/Squirtle. You can catch both types in the wild before you get to the 2nd gym. There's no need to pick one as the starter.

Hey Smith Plays, I am at Celedon City now, I was wondering where exactly is Ditto located? I want to know for mew glitch purposes. I know you probably didn't design the rom hack with this in mind, but it is cool, if you mew glitch it allows you to get some really good mons early on from the trainers. I want to use the Ditto manipulation glitch to get a Jynx earlier on, since normally that is saffron area and I am assuming you need to beat silph co first. I don't want to wait too long for Jynx and need to know where wild dittos are to manipulate which pokemon appears with the mew glitch

The "upsets" you kept mentioning weren't really that much of upset, they may have less mons, but they all had major type advantages. Like ofc Opal is gonna roll the dragon type gym leaders, all her mons are immune to dragon attacks...

I'm surprised Blue beat out Red, considering the Champ simply cannot win against Red in Gen 2. ... Are we sure their _last_ teams were their _best_ ones? ... Actually, Lance beating out Blue is another shock, since he couldn't win against Blue in Gen 2!
