  I like that the Dark Prince has actual magical powers and can create an entire castle from what I assume to be nothing, and yet he's lying about a Puyo Underworld for street cred.

  Honestly glad Amitie doesnt really have a Dark Prince/Ecolo. I'm new to the series and have only played PPT1 and 2, but my least favorite parts of those games' stories were the interactions between Ringo and Ecolo (even Arle and Dark Prince got a bit old).

  Personally I love both the iconic cartoony style along with the presence of the more realistic counterparts. I feel like switching between the two styles depending on the seriousness of the scene or whatever would actually fit the series really well lol. And we can all agree that they all beat the sega style

  @kirbyvskirby fair, I don't hate the sega style but to me with MM being a humorous play on RPG tropes the compile era visuals are perfect and align with the spirit of the series better. Sega stuff is stylish for sure but I think it's more polarizing of a style and keeps people from trying the games (which is dumb but people are shallow)

  @@bivisbuns I wouldn't worry about it. Would people be more likely to buy a Tetris-like game if it looked more like Dragon Quest? Or Sonic? Or other examples? Would Puyo Puyo Sun do as well in the US and Europe if it released untouched up back in the 90s? Or would they be turned off because 2 girls and a guy in a white dress are front and center on the box? I think it's a case-by-case thing. And we're not gonna get everybody, nor should we.

  @kirbyvskirby yeah, you're not wrong. The older stuff probably wasn't gonna sell back then one way or another (although Mean Bean Machine is well-liked / remembered for sure in the US at least). I do think making the wider audience understand the legacy via a switch collection of the classics or something would go a long way. Never gonna get everyone, but the games are good enough to at least give it a try. Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part though

  @@kirbyvskirby I thought so. It's kinda loud no matter how far you turn it down. I wouldn't use it over game footage, but if you're ever making something where the characters are watching TV, it's great for that. That's how I like to use it at least.

  I learned something today. For the longest times I had this artstyle backwards. Interesting that some of the later spinoffs would do a middle ground of both the cutesy and semi dark look. I guess that criticism towards 3 GG isn't totally called for! All seriousness that one certainly was an oddball.

  I love this video :0 very interesting Imho I think Oshare Bones just really said "fuck gender norms". That's why he refers to himself with feminine pronouns, as they don't always equal gender. Your observation is a good one tho
