  I just got a beginner calligraphy set. It had ink cartridges (maybe an inch long) that are pressed into the frame that holds the nib and the ink flows like that of a pen… so no dunking in ink. Does this need to be cleaned in the same manner? Just started out so this is a whole new world for me lol.

  You are most likely applying too much pressure - there should be zero pressure applied on your upstrokes. It’s also possibly the tools you are using.   Also an option to thicken ink is to let it try with an open lid over night so the water evaporates :) youre welcome

  So.. here is my issue. after dipping my broad nip the reservoir is filled. Actually its 2 issues. 1: after dipping when the nip is applied to paper its waaaaaay to wet so you cannot create the cool thin lines. 2. how does one adjust the reservoir for best results. inuse speedbal C-2 nib.

  Although my hand writing is more akin to neanderthal cave paintings compared to your beautiful script I find that it improves with very heavy papers when using my fountain pens. When I write upon watercolour paper it dramatically improves, although there are some bleeding issues, is there a heavy paper you can recommend that I may precure here in the United Kingdon.

  Thicken ink using gum arabic. Or dip your nib into it before loading with ink.
