What if we make a rookie mistake and forgot to mark the primary before separation ?
It is a good idea to but since you can buy halves of this clutch then each side is balanced
It would be nice if Dura Clutch made one for the Ridge
They only do Polaris. Sorry
@@Hunterworks I know. It's a bummer.
Does it matter what gear the atv is in when you do this?
No
Very good information sir
Do you ship to Australia?
We don't sorry
Well, the primary clutch make it Idle high
No sir
Most of videos I watched are doing clutches on v twin models. See very little on single cylinder models like 400,450,and 500 models. I know they work a little different. Be nice to see a video on them too.
Does it matter if the sliding basket isn’t marked when taken apart on a 23 850 outlander taken my clutch off to do some cleaning and the basket fell apart when I was taking it off I should have marked it before even removing the bolt
good idea but not required to put it back like it was
Are you going to offer the just the replacement rollers and buttons for this XP1K primary? I would like to make this a yearly service to keep the primary from going bad. My experience with the available market rollers and buttons is that they were junk and were not worth the effort to replace them. I wear out/flatten at least one roller every 2 years or so, then all hell breaks loose with a sticking primary, and turns to quickly wearing out the remaining good parts of the primary. By the time I have the "sticking" problem, the buttons are really worn out.
We have not planned to, hopefully not needed, once you need these the clutch should be worn out and metal missing from the belt surface etc making rebuilding a moot point. But parts are not out of the question.
Where is your store at?
www.hunterworks.com is our site, do you mean where do we ship from? We have not actual store front even though if you let us know ahead of time, you can come by and pick stuff up.
If im running a 2023 rzr trail 900 with 29" tires, mainly slower speed (50kmh or less) trail riding in low, what belt would you recommend as well as maybe clutch kit if needed in your opinion?
not sure what 50k is in mph but if mainly slower then no kit needed really, but you do need our secondary rollers to replace square pucks and our 900 belt, only one
Wish mine came off this easy
What about YAMAHA Utramatic transmissions are they better at running high speeds at long distances?
I thought I covered this in this video but ALL CVT's even yamaha, they get a deep "divot" I call it in the sheave where the rollers are from this
I thought everybody knew you adjust rpm up n down when doing long high speed distances? Of course the belt riding in the same spot long distance high RPM will build excessive heat in that spot therefore RPM/spped fluctuations at high speeds on any long held speeds adjust the belt up and down the sheeve so its not constantly building heat in the same spot. The other bad one is not using low gear at low speed hilly and/or deep stuff or low speed in general because a slipping belt is never good
No most everyone thinks you can do what you want it last 10,000 miles sadly
I put one of your clutches on my last ranger and it dropped the revs 1500 rpm and the mpg increased greatly , unfortunately that ranger died at 12,000 miles so i just bought another 2024 ranger and thats reving high and mpg sucks . I fixing to change the new polaris clutch for the mother clutcher i have on the dead one .. many thanks great product
MC is chinese and may not fit or work, holler if you need me
@@Hunterworks. It was one of your clutches , I'm taking it off the 2022 ranger 570 full size and putting it on the 24
@@michaelwilson1920 We do not have a clutch for it, so I think you mean duraclutch and only if both are 570 will it work.
Your right it was Harvey's atv my bad , but yeah they are both 570's @@Hunterworks
2005 Polaris Ranger. Turned out the front motor mount was sheared off, the motor would twist a bit under torque, causing the primary to rub against the inner cover. I looked at a lot of secondary, could not find one similar to the one on this 500. It has a plate on the outside that appears to be a damper?
Well that would do it!!!
Why don’t the rivets come preinstalled?
Because this is an adjustable kit and we have no way of knowing what you need without the service. Most people can do the rivets themselves too, we just offer to do that part if you like is all.
I just ordered a Dalton clutch kit from you and I’m exited to finally fix the belt slippage on my 2022 Pro XP. Question: is the stock pressure plate ok? I’ve had people say it’s junk and will break. Should I upgrade it? Thanks You.
By pressure plate, you mean primary clutch then in our opinion the OEM is the best you can get, they changed it in 23 but some of the older ones got free upgrade from polaris
10:58
What about it?
Working on a 2005 Sportsman 500. The secondary clutch has what appears to be a damper plate on the outside, with 2 ears that can slides back and forth, about an inch, but doesn’t seem to tighten anything. No spring in it as well? Looked at different units, even golf cart, but didn’t see it anywhere.
I look at all the secondary clutches that I could find on line, but did not find this one. It has a slotted metal plate that seems to act as a damper, but with part missing?, possibly a neoprene or hard fibre shoe?
@@RonDoiron-pz3ee No idea, but just buy an oem part, probably all there is for it anyway
I was told at the Polaris dealer that xpeditions built after aug automatically had the clutches changed to the newer comfort clutch can anyone confirm this?
I can not confirm, if so it would be a bad idea
Thanks dude
Thank you.
The secondary clutch moves when I try and take the bolt off
put in gear and use an impact
I’m not doubting what you say but why don’t other vehicles like Canam Ryker and millions of scooters (which all do sustained constant speeds on roads) suffer from the same issue?
Easy, load and weight. What do those weigh? What is the rolling resistance compared to a UTV? BTW the Ryker secondary rollers fail a lot.
@@Hunterworks Yes, you’re right. I didn’t consider weight and the extra resistances.
@@fredericktucker9419 Thank goodness I did when I made this video HEHE
Why arent you in the kawasaki market?
Time mostly, just can't get to them as Polaris and Can am keeps us busy as heck and can't get done with them
Thanks for the video! And I also like the no bs talk. Great job!
Thank you!!
Hard not to enjoy his videos. He’s salt of the earth
I have been called salty before!!
I bought the SDI alignment tool to get rid of the chirp under 15mph. Worked for 5 minutes and came right back.. I really am at a loss. Is it the factory belts? Ive always used OE and have never had a problem till now..
send me an email [email protected] and tell me for starters the vehicle, tire size, miles and if OE clutch and the issue
Did you make something for 2019 general 1000 ?
We do, have had it for a couple years. It is on our site on the General page
How long can I expect a CVT to last?
depends on brand of vehicle but average 2500-4000 miles, some more some less
One tip that would help a bit, the size and length of primary and secondary clutch centre mounting bolts. They never come with a new clutch and they are hard to find, even on their site. Rebuilding an old 500 and the original parts are pricey.
We only recommend the OEM, they are not just regular bolts and they are rarely needed.
I busted the main bolt on mine. I think it might be left hand thread
I don't know of any that are
@@Hunterworks just found out that lots are left hand thread just on the primary. Secondary are all normal right hand thread
@@wallyyuriy8912 Very odd. But depends on way the engine tures or on what side of the engine.
@@Hunterworks pretty common now that I know. Same side as your video. This is a 2016 can am 450. Though. But wish I knew before. Going to be fun getting the broken threads out of the crankshaft hole
@@wallyyuriy8912 Sorry, never had a 450 clutch apart.
Thanks for clearing that up. Just installed a hunter belt, noticed a little more power in my RZR.
Everyone talking about a jeep in here... The mid 90s suzuki sidekick is where it's at. AC, heat, 110 Hp. Same weight as a polaris expidition. Needs an altered ego lift, 33s, and a full service to be extremely capable. 400hp and longtravel is fine, but I miss mine to just beat on and still get 20 mpg.
RZR 1000 XP noob here, the learning curve has been steep, but Hunterworks flattens the curve. Thanks for the videos and info! When I bought my first buggy last month, I couldn't take off without roosting anyone behind me. 800 miles on the original belt, it was worn and more narrow than a new one. It's smoother now but Hunterworks is in my future.
Thanks for the comments!! Holler if you need us
So you're saying throw some 33in truck tires on it and a crapton of sound deadener... Perfect...
maybe
Just got an mcb primary and venom team tied for the current ranger 1000 sohc. We will see how it works out. I got 2500 miles out of the stock unit and if this new one dont work out i will check out this one
We do not have a HW made one for a Ranger SOHC, the OEM is the best for it. No comment on the MCB but when it fails get a OEM and we have those in stock
Just installed a Hunterworks clutch on my 2019 Ranger 1000 crew. 100% smoother starts over the OEM.
I think that would be our belt, we sell the OEM primary for it. WE do appreciate the comments for sure!!! Todd
What speed does a 2109 X2 full close?
all around same speed 50 ish
How can people say their belts are the best when nobody has more time and money into R&D than OEM
Not sure about people, but we know and our belts are made by one of the companies that make some OEM belts. But on this model, it is easy, this model uses the 16 turbo belt and we use the 17 and newer dimensioned turbo belt and it is way better than the OEM on this model
I’m lost? 2023 outlander 1000 back half of primary clutch will not come off my atv and help
Did you use a puller?
Question....I have a 2021 xp1000 I had to replace the clutches. The belt is rubbing on the inside plate of the primary. I only have 1 shim installed and the belt still appears to be rubbing on the inside of the primary. My secondary bolt isn't a 15mm like in your video, it's only a 10mm. What can I do at this point to get alignment??
Take the one shim out first. The newer has the 10mm, this one is a 19 model
nuts ; I bought the limited and besides the heat the noise is terrible. At 5k rpm its like a boom box in the cab. Wishing I didnt buy it !
I figured it would be like that, I am sorry to hear about your feelings on it
So I did inspection and found out my secondary spring came out some how and got twisted up 😢behind and I’m assuming something happened to cause my nuts and washers to back off which is weird being that no one has supposed to have touched my secondary gear. Any suggestions to what could have caused this issue. And luckily nothing broke. Thank god
I would need to see pics, send them to me [email protected]
Im looking fora way to add Rotopax to my Can Am Commander Max, keeping it well away from the engine. Would the top or side of the trunk be able to support a Rotopax bracket?
What is a rotopax?
Videos are very helpful I have a question. I have a 2023 can am outlander 1000 and had my bearing replaced by freedom 4x4 and my primary clutch came off and cracked my housing. What do you think in your professional experience would cause it to come off while riding. I’ve never had issues with this clutch atv was bought brand new and he was only person that worked on my clutch
The only thing I could say is not torqued correctly and not using a holding tool while doing it.
Hey sir! Very informative, i just bought a new 24 polaris scrambler S and was wondering could i get a clutch kit to make it more punchy sort of the way the renegade feels?
We do not test or offer a kit for any polar is ATV. and have not ridden one nor a renegade to test against. Sorry
I’m assuming you have to take that bolt out to get “the post” out.
correct
Solid small business right there 👌👏
Why no grease in the weights?
Why put grease in there? We have been greaseless since 2008, along with every other roller weight style clutch on the planet except yamaha.
