Kari the Mortician

Kari the Mortician

I have been a licensed funeral director for 20 years and have worked in the funeral business for 27 years. It is truly a passion for me. In my 20 years, I have freelanced at multiple locations and have been the on-site director at three funeral homes. I have gained a unique perspective of the business through my work in several communities and through these different businesses. Funeral homes use varying levels of technology, personalization, and social media. I have seen so many ways to maneuver through the funeral process, from removals, paperwork, prep work, arrangements, staffing, and aftercare.

I want to help funeral directors give a better customer experience to the families they serve. I want to help educate consumers about the different areas of the funeral business. I want to help those with a passion for the business get pointed in the right direction towards working in the business or to mortuary school.

So many of the comments under this video are so rude and unnecessary lol. This was a wonderful discussion!! I enjoy every podcast episode that y'all put out, and I'm glad those of us that actually enjoy the show get to all commune together about it. I definitely feel that the show portrayed the handling of Aaron's death/pre-need arrangements as very strange and spotty. I think the writers on that episode put most of their energy into Nate's storyline for this episode, and the "featured death" of the episode kind of felt like an afterthought. I get it because it was a season finale based on Nate's situation, but still I think Aaron's storyline could have been more fleshed out

I’m still amazed at how you can’t tell that there is makeup on EVERY deceased body, as long as it’s done right like you do I’m sure.

Kari...it's so grubby and dirty. I would not want you using that muck on my loved one. I am surprised that you would want to advertise this. Funerals are so costly. I think your clients deserve better than that. My cat bowls are cleaner! I have terminal cancer and have found your tutorials so helpful, but.... please don't use that stuff on me 😊 xx

At the cemetery I work at we used BB’s. A cheap and cost efficient solution. Yes they will corrode over time. If we had to remove the casket for transfer or other reasons. We used a specially designed homemade pry bar tho lift the end of the casket and put new ones in.

Hi Everybody , Kari i am So Sorry for the loss of Your Neice, i also lost a Neice, ( not to violence, ) but from some Complication while my Sister was Expecting with Her, and the drs had to induce the Birth, we had My Neice ( Angel Anna) my sister named Her, buried on top of my Fathers grave, and later on i made Her a wooden grave marker, and i Even wrote a Poem about Her, , Her death really touched me, ( she would have been 34 this Year, ) in 2012 my Mom passed away and 2 of my sisters turned into Jekyl and Hyde people, the first big issue was when I told the one sister I was Not going to help her shut Mom off, because I think if the drs could have diagnosed Mom with the Stroke She had in the nursing home, I think Mom might b alive 2 day, I can't go into details about what happened after that , her and the other sister did have Mom shut off, and then the real hate began 2 come at me from them, My Mom and me had a home and some property ( nothing worth much) but with their lies 2 the lawyer and the medicare, I had 2 leave our home, well I was homeless living in my Truck with Mom's German Shepherd Sam for 90 days in the heat of summer starting August 1st , and September and even October was hot, then November my Sister not the mean sister, got me on her apartment lease and I stayed there till Febuary when I was approved for my home loan, where I am today far away from the drama,, Sam passed in 2015 then I got another Shepherd Daisy and She passed in 2023, And now I have another Shepherd Camille, we R doing OK, I am sorry I went on and on , I still have not healed from the drama ,

As someone who was with a borderline for two years (living with them), brenda is definitely at the LEAST a borderline, and at the worst a total narcissist, or both. For sure. She's a pendulum constantly swinging back & forth all the time

I miss you too Kari! Love that you did this. Reinforces what my funeral director told me when I made my pre-arrangements. Told him to make sure my makeup is on and my nails AND toenails are done. As well as my hair is done right and has the “right” color. I update a picture for him from time to time. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

You should be a shamed of yourself making money on other peoples suffering thats discusting and evil. Specially the prices they charge for that are right criminal. when i die they can put me in a garbage insinerator or dump me in the garbage i don't care i am death. There is no way that i going to pay a life time of a lot of money to a funeral home they fill there bank acounts with you money and when they have it all they dissapear in to thin air.

I knew Andrew Borden made coffins but I was not aware he did anything else. You can find the episode of my favorite show “ The Dead Files” where you can hear the spooky side of these murders. The Lizzie Borden house is now a haunted bed and breakfast. “The Dead Files” can be viewed on Discovery+.

During the last two minutes of my fathers life he opened his eyes for the first time in three days. He looked around the room, shed tears from both eyes, and stopped breathing. I've been haunted by this for 25 years.

When my mother died and we were at the crematoria they had no entrance for people in a wheelchair so my mothers mum who was in a wheelchair had to enter true the same entrance as the coffin did we were all really angry about that that a living person has to enter true the same entrance as the deceased. I have seen the removal of a body from a crime scene and the police send all the people who were watching away you don't do that not on a crime scene or a home or hospital it shows you have no respect. the cover the body up with a black cover and put it in the van and the police escorted the van to the funeral home. But i suppose the police here has more respect for people then the police in the USA they are violent and realy fast with there guns and tasers we are humans not animals
