Very cool kit. I just started getting into my first Tamiya kit and while it's not as detailed as your kit is, you can really see the quality difference from U.S. kits.
@niteowl77102 күн бұрын
Ebbro was started by the former Tamiya Head Designer from the 70s/80s that did their large scale F1 cars. They released the DS-19 first, so this kit is a modified reissue. Ebbro had a majority of their capital tied to in making 1/18 & 1/43 diecast of the Super GT racing series. Between licensing expenses and having to make new molds to represent the year to year change it exhausted the company. Ebbro went bankrupt back in March of this year. It'll be interesting to see who winds up with all of their 1/24 & 1/20 tooling as they still had planned kit releases that never saw the light of day.

@KitchenTableScaleModels Yeah the Ebbro Founder did a number of Japanese language interviews (which can be Google Translated) about his history with Tamiya and about stepping out on his own to make the new company back when they started. Their first kit was of a Citroën 2CV Fourgonette (speaking of weird French things) and it's actually dual labeled Ebbro/Tamiya as the chassis, running gear, engine, and most of the interior were directly from Tamiya's 2CV with Ebbro making the new body, panel van compartment and other bits and pieces specific to it.

60th Anniversary this April. 2 months ago. Good choice of build. Having professionally restoredt several full scale Kurtis Midgets, both Offy and Ford V8-60s, and my dad owned and raced a Kurtis-Offy in the 1940s...I love that those kits were done by Revell. But I am also aware of problems in the firewall and footbox shapes. So a fair amount of fabricating will be required to get them "right". Also the V8-60 grille is too wide. It may match the full scale car they used to model from. But it's about 1 bar wide on each side. The Kurtis grille is very close to standard Kurtis. The grilles on Kurtis' were cast aluminum, that fit both aluminum bodywork and fiberglass bodies. The nose and tail body material were optional when ordering a car new or when ordering replacement parts after a crash. There were 2 molds for the grilles. Offy or V8-60. The 34 Ford "Slammer" and Tobias Pinto modifieds supposedly have 428 Ford engines. The Revell 427 will serve. PS: No Ford should EVER have a Chevy engine. For one thing, putting a Chevy engine in a Ford tells me the Chevy body and chassis were not as good as the Ford. The best option for them was to find a Ford to put their engine in. Tough luck for poor Chevy guys. Then yhe Chevy guys HATE everything that isn't Chevy. But they apparently think it's better than a Chevy engine in a Chevy.

Thank's for the look at the kit. You are right, it brings insanely stupid prices online. I think that tool was retooled into the Barris Fireball car Barracuda actually beat Mustang into production. If Plymouth had put more into marketing the 273 equipped S it would probably be considered the first ponycar. Back in the 80's 10 year old, 6 cylinder, Mopars were usually $500 or less. Just shitboxes to be used up and disposed of. For it to bring $500, it would have to be an exceptionally minty example. I only paid $400 for a base '69 fastback with bad paint and a 225. My first car was a '65 Barracuda with a 170 slant. it had a 1 barrel Carter carb from the factory as did every stock slant 6 I have ever seen. Barracuda and Valiant shared the same platform from '64 - '69
