  My old hometown! Well, I grew up in what became North Charleston; lived there from 1951 (yes, I am an old boomer) until 1996. I spent a lot of time in downtown Charleston though. I loved King Street, the Battery, - there used to be a great library across from that big church (St. Michael’s?), but it’s long been gone, I suppose. That piece of the old Pearman bridge brought goosebumps - I was terrified of that old bridge from the time I was little! Thanks for the trip “home.”

  1-95 through Florence was widened in 2002 not 2014. SCDOT will soon begin a 33 mile section coming out of Georgia but it won’t be finished until 2032.

  I have a freeway channel called FreewayCaleb and the only Foo Fighters songs I’ll use in some of my videos are Saint Cecilia, Times Like These, and These Days because those are the foo Foo Fighters songs that I know plus my dad says not all Foo Fighters songs are good

  Used to drive in mountains in Colorado, California, Utah when I was teens, early 20s no fear at all. Just moved to NC and decided to take this route. I did not think I was going to make it! And, was not prepared for the tunnels :D

  hey long time no see how are you great to seee ya back i miss the south so much last time i went was 2019 but got kicked out by hurricane florence ughhh we go to sunset beach nc i love it there oh i went to hilton head sc i loved it but it was too wooody u couldnt see the beach from were u were staying was a nice rental had a pool and was fun hope to make it back down there again soon i miss it horribly thanks for the upload take care yall kim

  The steep grade is Old Fort Mountain in McDowell County. Black Mountain is the name of a town in Buncombe County.

  I drove this section of highway in my grand caravan last year, it was beautiful. Im going to drive this same section of highway again next month vut this time in a 30 foot RV. It should be an interesting experience.

  Im driving this route again at the end of Oct...should be awesome iwith the fall colors. I dont envy you driving a large RV through there though. lol

  @@donkey3187 i just did the trip last week and all went well. The RV had a great transmission with engine brake and did a great job holding the speed of the RV steady while decending. The decent was what i was most worried about as i saw trucks with overheated brakes when i made the trip in my minivan but the RV did great. Enjoy your trip!
