    How are these holding up after a couple years?

  • @Craving.Outdoors
    @Craving.Outdoors24 күн бұрын

    Hey there! They’re holding up great. One has been hanging as the tape wore out or something. Thats been around a year and I keep forgetting to fix it. The only issue is the switch, believe it or not. Sometimes it wont latch so I wiggle it to latch and stay on. But the lights themselves and wiring all are great. And thats through lots of mud and water crossings and dirt! Thanks for watching!

    Hi! By wind fairing, do you mean the awning or perhaps the little upslope in front of the iKamper? Awning is a 180 XT from thebushcompany. Upslope came with our Prinsu roofrack. I have an install video for both if you’re interested. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

And that hike is what made me a backpacking fan. So Solveig is really happy about that! Lol. We are doing our first backpacking trip at the end of the month in Yosemite. 5 days in the backcountry! My wife has been trying to get me to do it for years. Now Im looking forward to it! Haha. I cant imagine how bear spray tastes! Thanks for sharing!

    in early June of 2009 we took a trip to Yellowstone. Our oldest son was 6 at the time. We stopped inside the park about 15 miles in from the west entrance to look at the river and view wildlife. While we were viewing wildlife I made a joke to the family do you have your bear spray. My wife would later find an old video of how this ordeal. Anyway our oldest son ran back to our pickup and you could hear in the distance him yelling Bear Spray. We had it tucked underneath the front seat of our pickup still in the wrapped clear plastic bag. He opened it and discharge it all over him inside our pickup the windows rolled up. The ranger & estimated by the weight he discharged 3/4 of the can. He was completely orange, couldn't breath, couldn't see. Somehow I found a spot that got cell service and called 911. They dispatched an ambulance from Old Faithful which would take 60 minutes. In the interim some off duty rangers in a Jeep heard the call and got to us sooner. We ended up stripping him down and putting him in the cold river to help wash it off. My wife went with him in the ambulance to the nearest facility where he would get a shower and they would give him new clothes to wear. In the interim I loaded up our two youngest children (4 & 1) and as soon as I turned on the pickup the AC/heater blower kicked on and blew that bear spray all over everybody, so I had to get everyone out, calm them down and clean them up from the bear spray, remove their seat coverings. That stuff was so nasty it ate the paint on the dash of my 2004 Duramax. It took months for it to finally all go away. The rangers who stopped by to help each had their own bear spray story. One of them was hiking in the backcountry and heard a hissing sound from his backpack. When he opened it up he got sprayed and there was no water around for miles. The other one discharged spray at a grizzly only to have the wind change directions and it sprayed him.

    Wow. What a story! Your poor son! That must have been quite the ordeal. I couldnt imagine if that would have happened to our son! And then the a/c!! When the can of ours that broke open finally stopped, it was overnight, we put it into a triple ziplock bag. I swear to God I thought it ate thru one of them. The bag was completely red! At the visitors center where we stopped, they had a bear spray break open and spray all over the inside of the building just a week before we got there! Rough times then, for all of us, but so glad we can laugh about it now! GREAT story! Thank you for sharing!

    What was the date/time frame of your trip, YS didn't seem crowded. Planning on a trip in 2025

  • @Craving.Outdoors
    @Craving.OutdoorsАй бұрын

    Hey there! It was July 8-10, 2023. It was pretty crowded. Some tips. Start early. Crowds seemed to be greatest between 12-3ish. Bring food and avoid cafeterias if possible. The park is huge so there is a lot of space there. Lots of less popular places to visit also like our hike. Totally busy below, but we didnt see a single person on our hike and it was so beautiful. We went to Old Faithful Area around dinner time and it wasnt crowded at all. Maybe sight see in the am. From 12 to 3 or 4, go on a great secluded hike (our big hike near the end of the video took around 6 hours and was a little over 7 miles) and then do more sight seeing around dusk, when no one is there. Enjoy your adventure and feel free to ask more question. You can also DM me on Instagram. Take care!

    Lol! I dont know how to answer this! My voice is my voice. The VO is recorded on a Manley Ref C microphone into an SSL micpre then into a hardware Distressor Compressor and eventually into my Avid ProTools HDX recording system in my studio. So studio recording vs crappy camera mics while run and gun shooting?
