GetawayGeese

Our names are Stew & Jane and we are Getaway Geese.
Our channel is all about our van life adventures in our campervan 'Harry' that we bought in November 2018 from Autocampers. We will show you our trips as and when we hit the road in the hope it will entertain, inform and maybe even inspire you to try it.
We have been inspired by many KZread Vloggers that we have referenced in our channel and we know that when researching the life whether it be a new van or a van build you are pursuing having like minded reference points to view is really useful.

    The lady's accent or the manner in which she has a tendency to run one word into the next without leaving spaces between her words can make her difficult to consistently understand. I have had to rewind, and repeat rewind, some phrases several times, and have had to admit defeat on occasion when watching the video.

    Yes both from a van and a conversion point of view - the van has a few issues in the first year all defy with under warranty - conversion wise we have upgraded a few things to suit us like lpg / gas / rust prevention / kitchen / lights - had an issue with the skylight after 4 years needed re seating But generally is been ok

    @Billy88London ah I see well we only drive autos and have to say that’s the fav part for me is the gear box - I think I would have the 130ps as you get better mpg and if your in no rush that would be more efficient than the 170. As ever online you will see negatives of all models and I am sure many true - the very belt design is supposed to be a flaw but like I say you only hear noise from those that have a bad one - but I would say that happens in all models - the height is about 5 9.5 in side my head just brushes top on the L1 H2 but I couldn’t do a lower pop top

    That's the same as my water container only mines 11 litres. I've had it over a year and it's been good. Gorgeous views from the fort, even on a hazy day. I thought that was where we went to overnight on Kings Sedgemoor Drain and we had to leave as a group turned up in campers to party. They did tell us and said we could join them, but we decided to leave as we didn't want to be associated with partying in a wildlife spot. The one we were going to use was further south though. Nice to see you in some familiar areas.

    Hi Jane & Stew, We have recently returned home from our French trip where we included Germany and Luxembourg, both very easy for free overnight parking. It was interesting to see your costs listed and the fact you found it so enjoyable that you could have stayed away from home longer. My better half is very much a home bird so our previous trips of three weeks has now become two. You seem to enjoy those back roads and I guess with Harry being a more compact vehicle it proves very easy for you. Looking forward to seeing new episodes of your travels in due course.

    I’m a solo man and thinking of getting a caddy swb and so torn with if I’m gonna do it. I keep thinking street camping in places like York and Stratford maybe , or picking campsites which are decent priced etc… I’m hoping it’s just when you go where you are more isolated?

  • @getawaygeese
    @getawaygeese8 күн бұрын

    Do it ! You will never regret it. Best thing we ever did. We have had Harry 5 plus years now and never had any trouble. It was just idiots seeking us out thinking it was funny. The first few minutes were very 😱. Eggs make a hell of a bang believe it or not, and the scuffle outside the van they were obviously trying to push one another into it right by my head. We soon put it into perspective. It was a fright but we were naive as well. The comments in this video have helped us put many safety practices in place so they sort of did us a favour. Thanks for watching and comment. I guarantee you will build your confidence up as time goes on. Jane ☺️

    @@getawaygeese thanks so much, the side streets in York and in Devon I’ve been eyeing up and I’m doing loads of research , it’s a big investment if I don’t do it. I’m hoping in a caddy it’s more stealth and if it’s just me jumping in at 11pm at night around other cars in a nice street I’m thinking I should be ok if I don’t leave anything visible in the front seats. Plus camping sites are still a lot cheaper than hotels these days!

    Typical cost, I think. It's a Swings and Roundabouts scenario for your French leg of the trip. You saw more sights than most holidaymakers, and covered more kilometers, so the fuel costs are higher but site costs were zero. Heading in August, ferry from Dublin to Cherbourg (€800 return, and thats towards the lower end of the ferry cost spectrum!) then hopefully this year head towards Bruges etc for a change.
