BIO
Jon Dette’s drumming career has spanned over twenty eight years, playing for some of the largest, iconic metal bands on the planet, notably SLAYER and ANTHRAX.
Dette’s “Old school” style of heavy metal drumming is simple. “Hit hard, play loud!” Instead of technology, Jon relies on health and physical endurance for his explosive powerful style. “I’ve always approached my drumming just like an athlete would approach their sport.” Jon credits Crossfit for his physical endurance and stamina.
In 2013, Jon made Heavy Metal history by performing headline sets back to back for both legendary bands SLAYER and ANTHRAX on the Soundwave Festival in Australia.

DAMN!
I wanna know how you get that killer sound in your videos!
5/4
I'm going too have nightmares about that snare sound Unbelievable cover
That kick stopping on a dime at 2:25 and going into the fill, punching cymbals everywhere was fun to witness.
Very bold, tight. Great production and to me, your mix is better than the original because we're focusing on the drums.Truly top notch. Thanks.
ha, you can hear the bass finally
I love your videos Jon. they get my hyped and inspired.
Post more bro.
Quite unbelievable
This makes me very happy😁🤘
Well played. That last skank beat with the double bass gets tuff at the end! 😮
Jesus dude. Those fills in that beatdown at the end. The kickrolls vs. hands. Way brutal 🤘💀🤘
I was 11 when this came out but didn't discover it until I was 13 in high school. This song was my first experience of Slayer and it is still my favourite song. I love the drums and the change ups and the pace of the song. Everything about Slayer is quality though as we all know. 🤘
This is exactly what iv been looking for, for years because Dave has some lightning fast fills and it’s hard to break them down slowly to practice them.
That's awesome 💪🏾💣
Out tempo
7:17 oh.... my.... go.d.....
Looks like it could help with weight loss
Amazing drummer
does the kick out of tempo or it's just me?
I would like to see this guy on high with cocaine... Jajjaa
REIGN IN BLOOD!!!!
Outfuckingstanding brother god bless
Dette should have been on all non Lombardo records
True story.....I USE to drink Whiskey and Play Ms. Pacman at the Rainbow Bar n Grill with Lemmy...We had lots of deep talks.....it was the early 1995? I was 33//// ...so He looks at me and says..." You look like your looking for some Advice" ...I was was like / Fuck yea...and says..." Always expect the unexpected"...and then he says..." there are people for you and then there are people that are NOT".....I Looked him back Dead in the eyes and said Life is all about "Sacrifice"...he reached over the ms . Packman table and shock my hand....this song came out about 6 or so months later...have no Ideal if what I said had anything to do with it....but it has Forever kind of Fucked with Me......the Rainbow let him take one of the Ms. Pacman table's to his home....I read...and read he Passed away on it.
i’m doing some double bass and i notice i struggle with control when i sit too high. much more control lower closer to what u like however, then the snare sits too high, even when i lower it. makes me think the solution is just to get a snare with an inch less depth
GOD I want to sit behind that kit!
Broken all!!!!!!!
Love lombardos work but i personally like bostaph just a tad better, more diverse drum patterns and rhythm or whatever. Even on the kicks he has different off beat patterns too its awesome
One of the few who says that. I loved Bostaph , didn't like Lombardo at all. Used to play drums back in the 90's in Greece. Bosthaph's drumming was the biggest influence in my style when I was a teen. All other drummers I knew loved Lombardo and considered Bostaph a poor replacement. I believed that Paul was more colorful. But...in the end I never heard either of them live. But I had the joy of seeing and hearing mr. Jon Dette himself perfoming live when Slayer visited Greece for the first time. It took place in the Peireus port, decades ago. When was that Jon? 1995, 1996? I still remember , one drum stick "flew away" just before the war ensemble solo , and you just grabbed another one in milliseconds...
Killer. He's a beast. But lets not forget that his homeboy Charlie wrote this and can still crush this.
Love this song its sooooo thrashy
As limited as Lars is, that double bass section in the middle is probably my favourite drum moment in metal
Good work! ❤
This is the walk up song, the gym song, the battlefield song. All biness
Tighter than a dolphin's butthole.
Olé!!
Jon Dette is a fucking beast! As a lefty drummer myself, it's awesome seeing someone like him play with Slayer!!! \m/ \m/
Anyone else notice he’s using a version of the song with Jason turned up?
I love how the camera is fixed o the drumset at the beggining. Then when the show starts it gets hit and ends up pointing away
*Ding....* Loved it!

Is there some tempo inconsistencies in 1:39? I mean, you play superb, but it sounds like out of tempo
When this album came out I didnt want to like it. But this might be my favorite Slayer song of all.
Doesn't sound as cool with all straight 16ths every time. How Charlie alternates between that and a gallop makes it interesting.
Yow johny howst goin? Awesome cover!!
that was totally different Lars ...
Man you’re killing it, sounding great!
Damn he killed it ! Love the fills.
I love Dave’s style but I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed when this album came out…
