Something so simplistic about these cars that I love! Makes me wanna get rid of my 2019 Hyundai and get one of these and spend 1/10 of what I am now

I had a 1986 light blue over dark blue Escort L 2 door, I wish I could find a pic with that color combination. I abused that car to no end. Took it mud riding, only time it ever got stuck was because of ruts, delivered pizza for years with it. It got totaled parked on the road in 1992. It had nearly 300,000 miles. Water pump went out on first engine and I cracked the head. My mechanic made a manifold so I could put a 1989 Escort GT motor in it with the five speed, hated the 4 speed. The manifold was needed because the GT engine was fuel injected and my car was carbureted. After the swap, it would smoke a Mustang 5.0 AUTOMATIC to 70 mph, then the mustangs horsepower took over. Of course it would not hang with a 5 speed 5.0 in any way shape or form. I loved that car, this video brought back many memories. Thank you.

My Dad had one willed to him by my Grandfather. A white 1989 2 door. I liked this little car. We didn't have much trouble with it. Got good gas mileage. I really liked the swoopy dashboards they used from 1984-1990. Yours has a carburetor. My Dad's was fuel injected. The electric fuel pump failed in short order as well as the rubber O rings at the high side quick connect for the air conditioning system. That was about all the issues we had. Good car otherwise. Your carbureted version has a mechanical fuel pump. The 1.9 liter engine is pretty good.
