    Not a helpful video. You completly isolate your salary from all important factors. There are a lot of people earning between 20 and 80 dollars an hour on the platform. Of course they are in the minority and probably sell a superiour service.

    Guys beware, iTalki is run by a bunch of scammers. I've set up an account hoping to find tutors who could help me prepare for my IELTS exam and they ended up deactivating it two months later claiming that I've been fully refunded. They've refunded me partially and a twat named Matty from their team keeps on claiming that they've refunded all of my credit purchases even though they've refunded only 10 out of the 12 and still owe me 65-70usd. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are plenty of legit tutoring services out there that aren't operating from the third world (Hong Kong)... They're clearly trying to rip me off but I have two ongoing Paypal cases against them to which they haven't bothered replying yet.....

  • @gabilingo2357
    @gabilingo23572 жыл бұрын

    Hey Andrea, aw thanks, you're making me blush. Ahh, so you're thinking of taking the ITP, I took one during university in order to not take English classes. You see, the ITP is structurally very different from the IBT, it's considerably easier, depending on your institution, that is to say, the listening is shorter, there will be no writing and I believe that the readings are also shorter. But it also depends on each university. I don't think your goal should be to memorize. Try to just listen to a lecture online and practice not using notes and answering questions, see how it goes for you. That would be my suggestion!

    @@navneetnijjar1184 I think it would be nice for you to make a test right now, to see where your level is and to see how many points you need to improve. There is one on the ETS website, and then you can find a book or classes or KZread videos to focus on the skills that are most lacking or that you think are the easiest to improve. Test yourself along the way to see where you stand. Also, make a study plan once you have seen where you need to improve, find books and online resources that will help you in that regard.

    1 year of preparation, isn't it a lot? and you already speak English and i guess you come from an English country so all of this explains the 100+ score, that is not bombing the TOEFL, i didn't prepare at all for the test and i got 69 my first time ever doing any language test, and i came from a french as a second language country but i speak good English but now I'm preparing for the second shot at the test, I've got 13 full practice tests hopefully they can get me to 80, i only need 80 and this is the last shot at the test because it is maaaad expensive here in my 3rd world country, yeah you are not struggling..i now only have 1 month to finish the 13 tests and I'm confident i can score 80 now.

  • @gabilingo2357
    @gabilingo23572 жыл бұрын

    Hey! No, for this test I did not prepare for a year, I actually only prepared for around a month. I don't come from an English speaking country, I am from Mexico, I did live in the USA when I was young for a short period of time which I'm thankful for and did improve my English significantly. However, I don't believe that they necessarily prepare you for a test that is like the TOEFL. I think that having 13 practice tests is great, I think they'll really help you, I would suggest not trying to finish all 13 tests in one month, I think you'll burn out and end up not really reflecting on what you have learned, but it really is up to you! Best of luck to you, let me know if you do make it, or if you need something specific that you would like to know.

    @@gabilingo2357 thank you for the clarifications althought i think being an English native speaker helps alot in comparison with non-native speakers but hey it's not a criteria. i don't think i will burn out if i did 1 test a day or so , plus i will focus more on the review adn templates after the test to see what i did wrong and how to improve on the next test as you know practice makes perfect, it is English after all it's not an alien language hhhh , i have my confidence and i have my full practice tests and i have time plus i have experience now from the last test so everything should go well on test day. I will let you know if i score 80 or more who knows but i'm aiming for 80. i'm gonna focus more on 3 parts : listening , speaking and writing. Thank you for your kind words.

    Hi, what do you think is better, to read the question first and then the paragraph or to read the paragraph first and then the question?

  • @gabilingo2357
    @gabilingo23572 жыл бұрын

    Good question. I think that's a very common doubt, I think it really depends on the person. I prefer to read the whole passage and then focus on the vocabulary questions. When I've tried to look at the questions first, it distracts me from understanding the root meaning of the passage and it takes away more time from the harder questions. In short, I think it really depends on how you manage your time and your preferred style, I recommend you try both and monitor yourself during both. How did you feel and how much time did it take to get through the reading in general. I believe that's a good starting point.

    hahaha, look where I find you, Ryan! I was going to comment something similar. @gablingo I am quite new. My starting price is currently $20 for structured classes (which will be going up) and $14 for conversaional ones (I've only done like 70 classes in total) as a community tutor! I am currently doing my certification to become a professional teacher, and everything indicates that iTalki can give me the price range I am used to in other teaching jobs I've had. My advice would be to raise your prices, yes. But do so while also raising the quality of your classes. Brand yourself better, work on your confidence and most importantly, your teaching materials. I swear to you that doing those things, will most likely make you succeed on the platform!
