I feel like there are minors available with this tuning. The B and D (of the open G chord) are the root and 3rd of a Bm chord. So by grouping strings 1-2 and 4-5 together you can play minor thirds all over. I know the 5th (F# in the Bm chord) isn't there, but do lap steel players ever use that trick to play minor chords?

Thank you for making this. I have FD in both hands. I am also a full-time, professional guitar player. After over 6 years of retraining, I rehabilitated my fretting hand, but the picking hand remains a challenge. It's very hard for me to hold a flat pick. I have to use different pick grips based on whether I am strumming chords or alternate picking. I've managed to keep on playing, albeit with a very clumsy and inconsistent alternate picking technique. I'm lucky that others still like my playing even though it's a daily frustration for me. I hope one day to find a way to pick without it feeling like I'm holding a salmon in my hand.

What kind of strings (gauges and note) do you use to get the Dobro G tuning on a lap steel? I assume a traditional acoustic dobro G set won't work with the electric pickup on a lap steel. The only lap steel G tuned sets I see are for low to high: GDGBDG, .58-.16. so, not sure where to find the right strings for a lap steel to use Dobro G tuning.

My musical interests have taken a new direction and your videos really provide a solid foundation as I work to develop my skills. Question: I am currently in “D”, would raising my 2nd string a whole step give me the same relative sound you get while in “E”? Thank you - R
