    Referring to peoples homes as not a lot there when it’s completely urbanized sounds stupid. When you say not a lot there, I imagine trees not peoples homes.

    I drove up to Asheville with my family one day because I loved it 20 years ago. The first thing we saw was a bunch of wealthy entitled white college kids protesting. We turned around and left without even stopping to eat or use the bathroom.

    I’ve seen the mountains change so much in my lifetime. The mountain culture and accents are dwindling away as the newcomers move in, bring their influence, drive up housing prices, drive out locals whose families have lived there since the 1700’s. Will the rich heritage we held onto through story telling and music survive? Makes me sad. 😢

    Only the black ice in the hills on the roads sometimes! If you are quessy, take your dramamine like you are going on a cruise! Tried to take my wife up the mountain roads to the Blue Ride Mountains! I wanted to show her where I spent my summers in the 1950's, (Newport, TN, and Bybee, TN), Pigeon Forge River fishing at night for Cat Fish with my older cousin Rodger! Just saying that life in the hills of NC, and TN was a real adventure in my youth over 60 years ago!

    You couldn't pay me to live in Asheville! Moved to Hendersonville, NC in 2014 from Naples, Florida. Nice small town feel with everything still within 10 minutes. Brevard just a little to far away from I-26. Not a bad place, but just a little off the beaten path.

    This town on the outskirts and the nature very cool but inside the city to me at least reminds me of a dump that they don't know what to do with. People claim it's a "fun" place but it's trashy.. graffiti and trash and no where I would want to take kids. The state of North Carolina is beautiful. But this town is the last place I would want to live.

  • @livinginasheville
    @livinginasheville3 күн бұрын

    I have kids here and I’m not having the same experience. There are certain times of the year where you do see trash places. I agree with you on that. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on with that though if it’s the Bears or people just throwing things around. But when I take my kids out and about, I do not feel unsafe.

    craft beer hub, exceptional views, always music venues, Biltmore and Grove Park Inn, all surrounded by the Appalachians... (the Blue Ridge Parkway goes right through it)... I would visit a decade before when everyone had dogs and the restaurants stood out, then I moved there in 2022-23... very expensive and turning liberal very quickly, and work was hard to find. one downfall for growth is the road system, there is only 2 main N to S roads and one is the interstate, they were doing major upgrades when I left, but there's still just 2. And it's very mountainy, so windy, often narrow roads are the norm. (surprised there aren''t more accidents)... and bears are everywhere, which is a positive or negative depends on your view... ( i watched a man shoo a momma and her cubs away from his garbage cans with a broom)

  • @livinginasheville

    Great comment, thank you so much. There are lots of bears. I see one about every two weeks. It doesn’t phase us nor does it phase the Bears. Here’s a weird thing, though, I have never seen a bar and Candler. I’m curious if anyone has?
