    if we were to shoot at 3200EI then we should put the base iso at 12800 and then expose correctly with NDs etc? (because as you mentioned we have to shoot lower than the base ISO and not higher)

    Sean Kitching made a video addressing the same issue highlighting that if we film and post 21:9 we lose the yt end card feature. which I found out the hard way haha. Sean suggested using 16x9 at 3840x1920 but I appreciate this video as well because phones are very wide the 19x9 I think may be better at least imo

    It was the "cleanest" explenation, but I still don't understand. So changing the exposure index is only to preview on your monitor?? It still only records in the base ISOs. Did I understand correctly? EDIT*** I think I understand. Like I mentioned above... and in the video example it says - for filming highlights shoot at the base IOS EI, to get the most details, do not over expose. For shadows, bring down the EI to have more detail in the shadows (results in over exposing the shot, to correct in post)? Did I get it now? lol

  • @maxsautner
    @maxsautnerАй бұрын

    Yes! U got it! 👊😎 Just overexposing for more shadow information in order to kill the noise, but still have a normal preview on the monitor..

    How about you guys just get a light meter and be done with it. Use exposure compensation in light meter to over expose your image by +2 or +3 stops over and plug the Cine EI iso in your meter not your cameras iso from 800 EI down to 200 EI all while leaving your cameras iso on the base iso then boom 💥 no more scramming KZread to figure it out. To justify it skin tones sit at +3stops 49+/-9 when you expose middle grey at 2 stops over hint hint once this is achieved you will see less noise in your image lower EI values like 200EI Helps you over expose by 2 Stops 200EI is 2 stops 400EI is 1 stop and 800 is 0.0 1600EI is -1 stop 3200EI is -2 stops higher EI values introduces noise because your image is already brighter to start off causing you to under expose darker EI like 200 cause you to ETTR effectively instead of guessing with your meter which is off by one stop in your camera by going in your cameras exposure compensation setting scroll to +1 4/6 and your meter with ready properly. They dnt wanna tell you the sauce 100% cause they eat off of you watching they’re videos and cause it’s all business but I’ve done my research and test this info I just shared will work 100% and get rid of the Cine EI confusion.

And when you do watch on phone it’s not for best viewing experience it’s temp till u get home.. so focus on TV .. sounds like common sense but all of u are getting confused and complicated. It’s like saying only cause people watch movies on phone let’s make all aspect ratio to fit phones for movies. Nope no thank u 🙏

    Is it the same for images where we want to protect/pull pack the highlights? So brighter scenes you shoot above the Native/Base ISO and then adjust Aperture and lighting to bring it back to exposed in monitor. Then edit get an under exposed image and brighten it up? Thanks so much for your videos so informative and clear!

    How long does the controller batteries last? Also does it put any pressure on the top of the monitor screen? I have a Baesus one, the lighting is good, but the only problem is that, it has a too tight grip on my LG monitor with a very low upper bezel that even makes the color/light changed on the top portion around that area of contact, I fear a prolonged usage might damage my screen. Hence asking since this is so expensive, how gently/tightly it grabs the monitor

    Hi Max, nice video and cool setup you've got! Lights are always a good investment in my opinion. Keep up the great work! Quick question though, how do you transport the InfiniBar kit? It seems like quite a large case in my opinion. What's the easiest way for you to transport it? Do you always bring the entire case to a shoot, or do you just take a few tubes out of the case? Thanks!

  • @maxsautner
    @maxsautner2 ай бұрын

    Hi Joeri, this case is a big pain. I wish @aputure would sell separate empty cases or a 4 in one solution. Most of the time, we take the whole case, but only if we work with a grip + an assistant. I try to go easy on my colleagues, since we often have longer days... But its also cool, if we load a big truck, so my infinites are safe and can't be crushed...

    why go through all this cine ei confusion. if you are in a low light situation, overexpose for one or two stops. then pull it down in post. if you don´t want to touch lens, go into higher iso or less nd or more light.... the normal way to do it. cine ei just tricks you into not seeing the overexposure on your monitor which sounds to me like a straight way into disaster. why does sony always overcomplicat the most basic operations in camerawork. the menu in itself is a complete insanity.

  • @of1300
    @of13003 ай бұрын

    i don´t get it at all. layman as i am. i always thought, you use low iso for shots with lots of highlights burning out, and higher iso in low light situations. am i fundamentally wrong here? here the recommendation is to use low iso in low light. why? cause it forces you to open up iris? to get more info in shadows? but what if i don´t want to open up iris?

    Another point is that if you shoot anamorphic, you're pretty much bound to a wide aspect ratio as you capture the footage. No reason to shoot anamorphic and then just loose those sweet wide compositions for 16x9 output ratio. Great video!

  • @StoryPartnersFilms

    Can you tell me if this is correct? You only have 2 Base ISOs that you can choose from in Cine EI. When changing the EI values in your camera you're not actually changing anything with the exposure of your real image file... it only changes how you see the image in your monitor. The reason to adjust your EI values are only for you to see how to adjust the exposure through lighting, ND, or Aperture, So if you want clean shadows you lower your EI value. This darkens the scene in your monitor and you realize you need to bring in more lights for your subject to be properly exposed because everything has gotten darker. Then when you bring this footage into your grading software all looks overexposed. But you'll just bring down the exposure to correctly expose your subject and your shadows will be clean! Is this correct?
