After some unhelpful comments I found it with a simple google search. Drop-Shotting: The practice of having a weight suspended below a single-pointed hook that is tied directly to the main fishing line is lawful on inland lakes,drowned river mouths, Great Lakes and Great Lakes Connecting Waters only. This gear may not be used on rivers or streams.

Are dropshots legal in Detroit? They’re not allowed in any other river in Michigan? Edit- they are allowed on Great Lakes connected water ways, but not rivers. With boats a connected waterway has to be 2.5 miles wide. Not sure if that’s the same for fishing rules. Seems like it would be. So most rivers connected to a Great Lake are not “connected waterways”. Detroit isn’t 2.5 wide, but maybe has special status with all the international shipping?

Yes because there is nothing attached to the weight like buoyant plastic is where on a jig so you don’t need as much.

Anybody drop shot with a circle hook as he does here- any feedback?
@FoxFishing4K Жыл бұрын
Nope, i dont like circle drop shotting. Always use a wide gap. Owner Mosquito are great hooks and what I would recommend. Also size 2 is likely the largest you need. Drop shoting is finesse and no point going to larger hooks. Sometimes we drop down to size 6. Also when he said when fish are negative and 4 inches from the bottom I wouldn't be using a drop shot. I would be throwing a tube covering more water and beefing up my gear.
