  Excellent! I love it, and you even have the lvf-11 thumb screws, awesome! Another thing, the Smallrig 3227 cage has an EVF-11 attachment which provides protection for the evf-11. Have you considered designing your own version for this purpose? The reason I ask is: the evf-11 isn’t very secure the way it mounts to the fp. I know this would add more bulk to the overall size of everything, but I do like this feature with the Smallrig cage. Thanks!

  Lots of FP owners already have the original SmallRig cages, such as the 3211, for which there exist some 3D-printed add-on grips. Have you considered producing a wooden grip specifically for this unit - probably quite a big untapped market of people that might otherwise prefer not to change systems?

  The smallrig cage you mentioned isn’t the original one, it’s also vastly inferior to what we have designed. Beyond that, it’s no longer available to buy new, so I don’t see any purpose in building parts for it when this system is much more complete and available to buy new. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

  @@WillvonTagen Understood - I'm aware of a couple of other designs from SmallRig, however this is the one that Sigma approved and promoted on their website. Whilst I don't doubt the superiority of yours just based on what I've seen, it was a suggestion that might help gain some traction and exposure for your new business, purely based on the likely high proportion of existing users who might have this unit but might not be ready to switch. Nice to have some new FP-specific gear - good luck!

  Is there any reason I can't buy this camera and the 12g 5in video assist and use that to record the signal to and SD card and skip using an SSD all together?! One short, SDI cable, one battery on the video assist and one on the camera, no SSD, no HDMI. Pretty compact.

  I believe I discuss this in the video. Yes, you 100% can do that. But for now you cannot record BRAW that way.

  @@WillvonTagen Yes, I note that you discussed using it to record proxies (for playback in the field). On the BMD website it says you can record BRAW 4k/60 on the video assist. So I take it there's something in the camera that prevents this rather than the video assist (I don't own this camera or the video assist, I'm currently a P4K user who wants to set one of these up as a second shooter).

  @@JonasStuart Oddly enough, the video assist can only record BRAW from non Blackmagic cameras. I've tried it with the pocket 4K and Ursa Mini--neither of which will give the Video Assist a signal in BRAW. I really hope they change this--but I also think Blackmagic is about to release something major as far as an updated Video Assist that also offers camera control (and possibly do it wirelessly). But in the meantime--you cannot do BRAW off of the Micro tot he VA.

  @@WillvonTagen Updated video assist sounds awesome (and also expensive again!!) thanks for answering, all makes sense now. So annoying they don't just put playback into the micro so you can just use a more basic (and more slimline!) monitor. FOr me the whole goal of this is to make a super small rig that I can chuck in my bag for vacations and family days out - but also rig up more for a second work cam.

  It is significantly better than any of those cages (nicerig doesn't even allow for external power). Beyond that, it is actually available to buy--unlike tilta or smallrig ;)

  Ha..hits home..my wife went to high school with one of the top fx/makeup people, Walking dead, Hunger Games are 2 he did..and she knows one of Mickey Rooneys daughters..also I did a gig in LA, wasn't sure what it was when I auditioned, got the gig and ended up working with a Name you all know..so get out and meet people..But hiring a Name actor isn't difficult if you have the money and the story ..

  BMMCC OG with my .58x speedbooster and OLPF/IR filter delivers sharp (but not too sharp) 1080p that I can upscale if I wanted to. In a world of 4k to 12k, people forget about solid 1080p with nearly all the range of film and super cheap media. I shot 2 days of 3:1 raw on a cheap PNY 512gb card - easy peasy. Love that little camera cube.
