For yall with the grayed out "Select Wired/Wireless LAN" issue. Make sure to turn OFF the "Enable Direct Connection" option in the "Network Settings" tab. Then turn your printer off and on again

One thing that might be helpful for others to know (and I wish it was more explicit so that I didn't need to learn by trial and error) is that when the blue ink tank covers are lifted up, they actually pinch the ink tubes inside the machine (not visible) which holds the ink in place when you remove the print head. This prevents the ink from withdrawing into the tanks and pulling air into the tubs, which then causes other issues. This is demonstrated in this video, I just wish Canon and others were explicit about why the blue tank covers should be lifted and left up until the print head is replaced.

@@TonvandenAkker Once you get air in the tubes, the easiest thing to do is take a plastic syringe and suck the ink through the tubes one by one. You do this by opening the cover that sits over the printheads, exactly like 1:37 in the video. When that is open, you can see each termination point where the ink tube ends. (When this small cover is closed, those plastic nipples connect on top of the printheads to deliver the ink.) So, with the printhead cover open, tightly press the tip of a plastic syringe against one of those ink ports and pull back on the syringe, drawing air and ink through the tube. You may have to repeat this a few times, pinching the tube in between each syringe motion to ensure the ink that you just moved thru the tube doesn't immediately withdraw again. Eventually ink will come all the way thru and enter your syringe, at which point you can stop. Now use your fingers, a small spring loaded clamp, or one of those black paper clip clamps to pinch the tube to prevent the ink from drawing back into the tube once you remove the syringe. Repeat this for each tube, but be careful not to release the tubes you have already filled or else you will need to do them again. It takes some precision to pinch only the tubes you have filled and to shift your clamp each time. You may benefit from a second pair of hands to pinch the tubes while you focus on the syringe. Keep in mind that you need to have the blue tank covers down while you attempt to draw air and ink thru the tube, otherwise nothing will pull thru. Once all of the tubes are filled, you can flip the blue tank cover up to pinch all of the tubes until you are ready to close the printhead compartment again. This is actually not a very difficult process once you get it going. Good luck!

@@geoffc8429 hi, the printer alarm icon blinks 5 times while the other, droplet icon is always on. can it be due to this problem? i am sure that the printheads are non problematic but after forgetting these steps, im having a problem. you never explained "which then causes other issues". what were the other problems, are they the same with my problem? the specific error code in this case is 1471.

@@atincuzun8924 When air gets inside the tube, your printhead will not be fed a constant flow of ink, so you will have actual print issues caused by the trapped air. Error code 1471 appears to be related to the printhead itself, so if I were you, I would just double check that the printheads are seated properly in the housing and sitting on the correct sides. I don't believe air in the ink tube would be related to that error, but you're going to want to remove any trapped air anyways, so do that as well and see if it all starts working again.

this is possible for the cleaning. but remember you're doing it with the cartridge head standing so the ink to suck is not even in a horizontal position. so it means the cleaning can be done on selected nozzle holes only and not evenly to all. hope u get what i mean.
