Congratulations on making it through! I have really have enjoyed watching you grow and change during the past 4 years.
🎉GRADUATION ON SATURDAY🎉 Could NOT be more proud of YOU!!! Anxious to see you when you get home💖 Enjoy your day with the family, Saturday sounds like a very busy day! 💐CONGRATULATIONS💐
Love your videos; great luck in law school. I went to Chicago GSB.
You are refreshingly nice. you will do well wherever you go and they will be lucky to have you. Some colleges just want the self absorbed students.
I agree with the person who wants to see and hear you play the violin! 🤩 Can't wait to walk around the campus with you!
Congratulations counselor
What are you choosing??
Makayla, would you mind sharing some essays you got an A from across random classes you took in your 2nd/3rd/4th year of college? That would be really nice
This video is really outstanding. Thank you SOOOO much, Makayla. WOW.
It's been fun watching your vlogs over the last four years. Our son is also a fourth-year at UChicago and we always try to catch a glimpse of him as you are making your way around that beautiful campus.
Once again…🎉AWESOME VIDEO🎉 💐SEE YOU SOON💐
Do u. Need video editor i am
The whole explanations in the video were very very practical and helpful. I enjoyed watching your video til the end and I could find Creative Writing major is quite different from other ones and the reputation of it and the skills that I can get depends on the colleagues I meet and my own writing skills. Such an interesting major, which seems like a perfect intellectual journey, unlike banal theoretical majors. But still I have some questions. Can you answer some of them, if you have enough time? I'm an English teacher who majored in English Education in Korea and is thinking about getting MA in Creative Writing in USA few years later. I want to hone my English to a native level to be a more professional teacher and a future writer. I'm 29 and I'm a male. There are two options that I'm thinking about after graduating from a graduate school there. 1. Coming back to Korea and continuing the career of a teacher and being a bilingual writer. 2. Trying to be a magazine journalist for introducing Korean cultures or dealing with issues in Korea in magazines in USA. Here are some questions and I will be so so thankful if you can answer some of them! 1. As an international student, do I need to master English "in advance (nobody will give feedback for grammar or wrong word choices)", or can I do it "through the courses" 2. Can an international student seek for the opportunity to get a job as a writer after the graduation? Or do I need to expect to come back to my country after that? 3. I think you meant to describe courses in creative writings are quite "spontaneous" comparing to other ones because "feedback' and "examples of good writing" are the major topics for most of seminars and workshop. Did I understand it correctly? 4. Are there many "theoretical exams" like other majors as well? Or only few? I just want to get much more feedback for "My writing" not compressed tips or theoretical knowledge for writings. 5. Do professors proactively give feedback and connect students to publishers/magazines etc or does it depend on each individual's own effort?
Hmm. I did not know of Ruth Baulding, so this is a real gift . How much earlier is this prequel to the prequel than "a long time ago in a galaxy farm far away"? Must not be to much earlier judging by the characters you mentioned! Have had a lot of fun with Star Wars over the years, including the Star Wars Convention here in Chicago a few years ago. As for the movies, I still think one of my favs is Rogue One. And now, in terms of the Star Wars storyline, are you ready for The Acolyte in two weeks. And to make the discussion relevant to matters at hand (Law School), let me just say, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!!
you can do just as well at BU. Make those connections, make sure to get internships and convert one to long term employment. It totally makes sense to choose a law school closer to home so don't feel bad about your decision! Money is also not everything, family matters, comfort matters because sometimes Big Law isn't even what you want to do!
when are you going to let us see you actually play a piece on your violin? don't just tease us. i'm sure your subscribers would love to watch a video where you play it.
Haha I once made a violin progress video but otherwise it's just so awkward!! I'm really not very good because I just play for fun, so I promise the video isn't missing much by being muted 😅
Crazy that your time at UChicago is almost over! Enjoy your last few weeks 😊
I know, I can't believe how fast it's gone by!! Thank you so much!!
@@MakaylaMacGregor Be prepared -- undergrad is just the beginning of your perception of time speeding up to an enormous degree. Enjoy the now -- it'll be over before you can imagine it!
the university of Chicago has such a beautiful campus, especially in spring!!💞💞💐
It's gorgeous!! There are so many flowers blooming - they do a great job of having a wide variety of perennials here 🌺
This was SO HELPFULL. Thank you so much for this!❤
Loved watching this! My friend is the COO of the medical center there and I've always loved that area :)
what was your stats?
Did you take spanish and French?
Yes! I did Spanish to complete my language requirement at the beginning of college and now I'm doing French just for fun :)
@@MakaylaMacGregor Thats amazing! I plan on taking French when I go, how do you feel the classes would be with someone starting from point 0. Also, I read somewhere that pretty much everyone speaks french at Uchi lol any truth to that?
Can you do a video about uchicago grad school and the different schools? Also why didn’t you apply to uchicago law school?
I'm sadly not very familiar with the grad schools at UChicago so I don't think I could be very helpful with them! And I didn't apply to UChicago because I'm planning on practicing law in New England and wanted to apply to schools closer to that area :)
Eeww that is gross about flies on desserts. 😝 The cooks should cover them up with some cover. I was wondering, do you save your planners once the year is over or do you recycle or throw them away? I am going to need a new planner but I'm not sure if I should keep it or recycle them when they are filled?
I think I still have a couple from high school but I often recycle them! In the future though I'll probably hold onto them as keepsakes!
@@MakaylaMacGregor Oh that is a good reason to keep them. For memories. 🩷 Aw thanks Makayla for letting me know. :)
The UChicago campus looks so pretty, I want to see it in person so badly!
ahh your videos are so calming to me, I would love to go to college and I really wanna try for UChicago!! I hope i get accepted into it 😪
Aw thank you so much!! And best of luck with your application 💕
Awesome. I contemplated law school, but it's not for me. Congratulations those are some good schools. I'm from CT so I know how good Yale and UConn Law are. Also, I currently attend BU doing a Master's degree and it's another really good law school! Kudos.
Congratulations!!!
great choice!
Don't be short sighted. With the saved $$$, those extra $$$ could be invested. Roughly 88x by age 65. Save and invest $100,000 once...leads to about $8.8M. Who's making more? Suggest people look at/revisit compounding interest.
Oh my god this is so intelligent and cool to do
sometimes i imagine u with a british accent and i find that thought interesting
legitimately as a child I was so mad that my family didn't move to the UK so that I could have a british accent so it's funny you say that lol
BU is an incredible school! And especially if it's cheaper than Cornell and NYU, it totally makes sense
BU is an outstanding choice, and BU actually had the HIGHEST number of transfers into Harvard according to Harvard's 509 in case you are still interested in Harvard after 1L. But congratulations, no matter what you do, you'll be in incredible hands
What area of law do you want to practice?
BU is a great law school, top 30 in the country. Also, "Big Law" can be utterly miserable and may not be the path you want, anyhow. I have known many people who burnt out very fast working in corporate law.
Congratulations! So happy for you!
unrelated but i have a crush on you haha

Brilliant news. Boston U has a great law school, and the reasons for selecting are absolutely sound. There’s a kind of nonsense over this idea of ‘best’ universities, that is far too generalised and nothing to do with how individuals engage with the curriculum or the opportunities, nor how they succeed in their chosen areas beyond graduation. I was thinking about it a lot recently with these ridiculous threats from major firms that they wouldn’t hire students from Columbia or students from - LOL - Harvard, because of what’s seen as endorsing participation in protests. Honestly, firms have always been low risk when it comes to engage in graduate students. For someone like you who has an interest in the literary field as well as law, you have far more niche opportunities that will likely reflect the work that you really want to do rather than the idea of going into a nameless, faceless corporation. I think you know very well that what they want is somebody who is both capable and imaginative.
You made a good choice. :)
so proud of you!
Congrats!! Hope all goes well for you. Don’t worry about what other people think of your decision. You have to choose where your growth will be best for you, in various areas of life. Any updates on where your pre-med friend is going?
Yup, disappointed. We thought we could live vicariously through you going to Cornell Law School. It was not to be. Hmphh.
Are you serious?
BU is a great choice and your reasons don’t have to make sense to anyone but you. There is always the option to transfer to Harvard after your first year too
Walking distance to Fenway Park. No further justification needed.
I can't wait to see you in a different city like Boston. I hope you'll show us around Boston on your camera. Good luck.
I'm so sorry for all the pain you went through. Thank you for updating us and I can't wait to see more of your vlogs. 😊
congratulations, 🌸🎀🎀🏫💞
BU is absolutely stunning! Boston is extremely fun. Good luck!
