Just saw this video. Was exactly what I was looking for. I recently bought a new Trek. KZread is so smart seems it knows me better than myself. You did a fantastic job explaining this. One question I have for you. Could I get away with just doing the tape on the undersides of the bike and leaving the top sides un-taped? That way I would keep the black glossy look of the bike. Or in your professional experience is no area safe from gravel and nicks? Thanks for your help and passion!
@SingleTrackSurgeon23 сағат бұрын
Glad it helped! I tape the top specifically because I wear knee pads, thick shorts, or DH pants. Rubbing on the top tube usually scuffs up the paint pretty good and it doesn't look good after a while. You can also get clearer 3m tape that isn't as thick if you don't want to lose that shine.

Did you really have to stop this guy in front of you while he was entering a berm? Did you really have to tell him you were behind him after waiting only 5/10 seconds? He heard you, you just had to wait he could slow down, stop, in a normal spot, and only if he wanted to, he had the right to keep going, and you know that. Do you think that just because you are a fantastic rider, you are entitled to the right to use the trail for you only? Don't you think the guy in front of you was trying to have fun as you did and that you killed his fun? Do you think that your YT video has greater rights than his fun? Really? You did not even wait for the right spot for him to stop without destroying his ride. This is not the first time I have seen this behavior in one of your videos; I remember at least another time (I think in a Mammoth video, but not sure, though). Don't get me wrong, you make great videos, you are a fantastic rider. But probably you are not a good person as you are as a rider. And by the way, you violated the Big Bear Park rules; you should have been kicked out.

I don't often reply to Karens but I'll bite. Anyone who has worn a full face helmet in their life will know that it muffles everything and it is difficult to hear anything behind you. I alerted him of my presence, and even rode off trail in the center of the berm in order to allow him to stay on trail only after he looked back at me. I'm glad you find policing other people's enjoyment of trails to be entertaining. And I would be happy to pass you on the trails any day. 👍🏼

@@SingleTrackSurgeon I wear every sat and sun a DH full face, and I always hear people faster than me coming behind (maybe it does not happen to you, and you have no idea of how it works), and I try to get out of the way, if possible, and when possible, not in the middle of a berm though. Instead, I stay out of the way of slower riders. And if too slow or real beginners, I usually, I stop and wait instead of trying to pass them. I usually thank anyone who tries to explain to me what I did wrong and makes me think about it; I do not call them Karen, and I do not show anger, as you are clearly doing in your post. You probably pass over me every Saturday and Sunday in Big Bear; keep doing it. I will definitely learn something from you. I might also buy you a beer. But calling Karen, me, or anyone else trying to point out your behavior on a beginner-oriented trail over clearly a total beginner who was for sure scared of you and had to change line without being an expert probably confirms what I wrote above. Not going to keep discussing about it though, that was my comment, I see you do not like negative comments, good enough for me, have fun, keep doing great videos, and thank you for the channel content.

Quick question. I always get a noisier shift going from the 3rd from the largest to the 2nd largest and to the 50t. Derailleur hanger is straighter checked with my park tool. B screw is correct with tool under sag and the chain is the correct length. Any suggestions?
@SingleTrackSurgeonАй бұрын
Sometimes it's a search and destroy mission to find what is affecting shifting. Sometimes it's the spacing on the front chain ring too. Too far in or out can affect shifting quite a bit, especially at the top of the cassette in those larger rings.
