To think that my $200 US dollar guitar (bought on the HB 10% off sale last year) ... Will sound that good ! I guess I need some more work !!! Not sure why anyone would spend more than 10 times as much for a Gibson (and I do have a Gibson LP) ... Even with the cool $110 dollar Kluson Vintage Lockers (which are probably better than the ones on a $2K Gibson ) , and maybe a nut replacement (slot cut a but weird) ... This thing is a super bargain that blindfolded I'm sure no one could distinguish between a guitar costing many times more ... Although I am considering snagging a Sire L7V for its P90's great build and only 3X the HB (around $670 US) with no components to upgrade ...

This is really a great guitar for the price, maybe the tuners (as you mentioned before) need to be replaced with better ones... anyway is still a good guitar for the price. I have also an Epi Sg400 pro (my brother's gift), I replaced the pups with custom p90s (humbucker fit), cts pots and new tuners, and it becomes a really great sounding guitar!!! Thanks for your comment!

Great playing man 👍👏 I don't play because the only guitars I've ever really had the money to afford were the cheap fenders which do absolutely nothing for me. I've just ordered this guitar in the black cherry flame and I couldn't be more excited for it to turn up. I think owning a guitar that gets me excited and want to pick it up is going to make a lot of difference in me actually wanting to learn how to play it properly

@Crislongobardo Жыл бұрын

Hi from Spain again.Well I wrote to Johann Thomann and got a very positive response, they are replacing the original "B" stock model I bought with a normal model, now I just have to learn to play as well as you!
@johnrenshaw9688 Жыл бұрын
Hi from Spain, I really liked your style of playing.There were so many positive reviews I ordered an SC-550 II but unfortunately mine arrived unplayable, the graphite but set so high even simple chords were unplayable so I had it fixed at my cost.Then the selector switch and bridge volume and tone controls failed so I returned it to Thomann for repair.When it arrived back the selector switch wascOK but both the volume and tone controls for both pick ups did not function, so I returned it again for repair.Today 3 months later they gave me my money back but of course I incurred all the costs for the repair to the graphite nut and the traveling costs to the city post office twice etc.Maybe I was just unlucky? Kind regards,John.
@Crislongobardo Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. I think that you were very unlucky with the instrument, my SC had a little issue with the nut that I replaced with a Tusq. Maybe in the future I will replace also the tuners. I suggest you to buy another SCII or try also the DLX (but I prefer the SC550) and then take it to a luthier for better action, raise down some fret not correctly positioned, etc. I hope this help you. Thank you for this demo, great playing ! I was checking this Harley Benton SC-550 II in different video's but mostly you hear metal of heavy styles played, and the clean tones are mostly left out or bad represented , in case of blues or jazz we like to know if these guitars can do the styles, so thanks for this. You mentioned '' It has a few problems '' so i assume you are talking about the setup right out of the box? or is it worse? because for a 299euro guitar I am not sure I wanna spend another 50 euro for setup or more for fret leveling. Was the graphite nut ok?
@cristianolongobardo92102 жыл бұрын
Hi! This kind of guitars generally have a bad QC, so you need to spend a little money to a better setup. In my case I'm able to do this by myself, like smooth the fret's edges, or change the nut with a better one. I suggest you to check also the tuners. But I think it's worth the money... That was great. I'm looking at ordering another HB here soon, this would be #9 for me. I have their SC-450 Plus, but these SC-550 II's are looking quite nice, and the Stainless Steel Frets sound like a welcome addition, and the Tesla Pickups too. Looks like you got the Faded Tabaco Burst, which everyone gets the Desert Flame, I like the Tabaco much better. I think I might i might gift my SC-450 Plus to my nephew whos been pretty dedicated to learning the past 2 years and is doing well, but all he has is an Affinity Strat, so he would totally go nuts for an LP style guitar at this point. Also see you've got an MG-30, i have one as well. Waiting for the V3 bugs to get worked out before i upgrade firmware, nice modeler for sure. Thanks for sharing, nice playing too!

Thank you Nathan. I think the sc550 II is better also for wood (it's all mahogany) and the pickups and the frets are a great addition. Probably in the future I will change the tuners and replace the nut with a tusq. The tobacco burst color (yes it is) is also cool!!!
