My family is from SC and we ate like this everyday. We had rice with dinner everyday. This is how I fed my kids and basically I eat like this most often. The fast food and packaged food is at the root of a lot of mental and physical health problems today. No fresh vegetables on the plate. A lot of women today don’t know how to cook and are not interested in learning. It was very seldom we saw obese children especially, now it’s very common. I enjoyed this show. I would have to run that man out of my kitchen with all those unnecessary questions. She was the right lady for this job, very nice and patient. Thanks

Despite the greatness and kindness of Captain Bluntschli, I find Sergius such an attractive character throughout this drama.

don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater in the 16th century. Back then, bathing was not a frequent event. When bath time came around, the entire family would use the same bathwater starting with the father, then the mother, followed by the children from oldest to youngest. By the time the baby was bathed, the water would be so dirty that there was a jesting concern the baby could be accidentally ‘thrown out with the bathwater

"Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater" Не изхвърляйте бебето заедно с водата за къпане Произходът на тази поговорка датира от средновековието, когато хората се къпят рядко поради ограничения достъп до вода.

In the south we always store our salt on the back of the stove, the driest spot in the house with all the humidity, helps keep it from clumping. Many also add some dry rice to the shaker to act as a natural desiccant.

Y’all the culinary background in me had me to write the bread pudding recipe down. 1 cup butter 2 eggs 4 boxes raisins ( i only had the small boxes) 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla (just cause lol) 2 tablespoons spoons cinnamon 2 cups milk 1 loaf of bread Add ingredients to bowl the way they are listed in one bowl and mix Bake at 375 for 1 hours 20 minutes I decided to make a run sauce for mine when it was done baking Cause a local bakery has that too😂

I love this lady. She is so beautiful with a gentle spirit. I didn't get her name. She could be my family. I can't wait to try this meals. Not to mention her punch. There are so many cooks that drop food on the table or stove and they pick it up and put it back in the pot. Thank you for paper toweling it and throw it away. I can eat your cooking and be HAPPY. BLESSINGS my lady.

So many of our ancestors came from these islands and it’s interesting to see how and what they cooked. I did find it alarming how much sugar she added to nearly everything. We are learning so much now about checking product ingredients and making more healthful food choices. And that’s so important considering the preponderance of diabetes in African Americans. The food may have smelled wonderful cooking and tasted really great but the relationship between food and disease does not seem to be apparent.

Gullah cuisine and Soul Food are two different types of cuisine. Gullahs mostly eat from the land and seafood, hence it’s much healthier and lighter.
