Pretty sure Petey won the gig for now. Makes sense to me because he has a lot less mileage on the odometer than Nardella. Nardella is a really great player but injuries have taken a toll, face off man is arguably the most physically punishing position in lacrosse. I think it’s analogous to a baseball pitcher who’s thrown a ton of pitches and now has a worn down arm

Good video! I thinks it’s very very stupid the PLL hasn’t adopted ncaa face off rules , players now are taught to face off a certain way from 3rd grade to college so why are the pros still using old rules? I think the knee down technique needs to be phased out entirely
@faceoffzone1482Ай бұрын
💯. Every faceoff guy who faces off knee down has gotta either switch to standing or be out of the league. What’s the point of these younger guys watching it at home if it’s not the same rules?
@andrewbracy31Ай бұрын
It seems you could also argue that it’s the other way around and the NCAA should take some cues from the PLL regarding face-off rules. In a game where innovation & creativity are supposed to be celebrated, what is it about face-offs that we need to restrict the techniques athletes are allowed to utilize every two years? Asking this as a current college coach/former MLL face-off guy. If the argument here is simply that college & pro need to get more on the same page, I don’t necessarily disagree.

@@andrewbracy31 which faceoff rules from the PLL would you like to see in college?
@andrewbracy31Ай бұрын
@@faceoffzone1482 most everything besides the shortened shot clock after winning a draw would seem pretty reasonable (or you could say it’s just 60 instead of 80 after a FO). Both leagues could benefit from a pronounced “set” call as well as the refs physically placing their hand on both sticks (circa 2015) to make sure no one is leaning. One thing I wouldn’t carry over would be denying an LSM the opportunity to face-off if there’s a way he can contribute/disrupt there. Plenty of holes one could poke in the above for sure but that’s just going off the developments I’ve seen over the past few years.
@faceoffzone1482Ай бұрын
@@andrewbracy31 I’m not disagreeing with anything you just said. I’m completely fine with a shorter shot clock, I think faceoff guys need to become better lacrosse players and this would help, and I have no beef with LSMs facing off. The set call would be great, but guys can adjust to any cadence and be successful. The only thing that’s a deal breaker for me is if we continue to allow faceoff guys to faceoff on a knee. It just cannot happen

The way Notre Dame looked and executed this past weekend on both ends of the field in the ACC Tournament, dismantling Virginia and comfortably holding off Duke today, it's gonna take a superhuman team effort to dethrone them in the NCAA's! May take more than that with as suffocating as their defensive shifts have been! They we're already good earlier in the season but they have taken it to another level lately! Good luck to whomever gets paired up with them and in their pod after the selection show reveal tonight
