    Finally you are the empirical convergence I was not sure if I would find, though I suspected that I would, that now provides peer support for the call for a paradigm shift to as quickly as possible rescue psychology and restore it as both a true science and a noble practice. Incidentally what pushed me to need to arrive at this conclusion was a now resolved crisis that led to delusions, a psych commitment order for 2 hours, and an encounter with my teachers(aka voices). I salute you! Thank you very very much for putting quotes around every use of the word "illness' when 'mental' preceded. Seriously, bless you for the air quotes with your fingers when uttering 'diagnosis'' and 'disorder' and thank you for having the courage to think for yourself and the integrity to say so.

    It’s wild to me how we have so few psychologists and so so much waiting list in this country yet, so many people apply are they giving up? Are they not qualifying?

  • @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
    @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK28 күн бұрын

    Many psychologists work privately post-qualification - sometimes immediately and sometimes after a number of years in the NHS :/

    Hi Holly, I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you've put into this channel. It was my 5th time applying this year and I was getting to the point where I was considering giving up. This year, I had 1 confirmed interview (I got placed on the reserve list at no. 50). I then had 2 reserve interviews which both became interviews less than a week before. I got a no from the first one and then on Friday I found out I got a place at the last! I have watched so many of your videos over the last few years, and found hope particularly from you sharing your journey with having applied numerous times and your discussions around it being the system, not us. Thank you for still finding the time to make these videos on top of training! I watched this video the day before my last interview which I think helped get my head in gear and perform on the day 😊

    Hello Holly, I'm glad I came across your post. I wanted to share my concern about finding an equivalent degree in Psychology. I hold an undergraduate degree with majors in three subjects, one of which is Psychology. The subjects include general psychology 1 and 2, health psychology, social psychology, and child psychology from India. However, my degree is not being accepted because I need BPS recognition. They are suggesting that I would have to do a conversion course, which would mean redoing what I have already studied. It's really unclear to me whether I should proceed with doing a conversion and then pursue a master's degree in the UK. Would be glad to hear your thoughts on this or should pursue in other countries? Thank you.

  • @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
    @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK2 ай бұрын

    Hey Amy - I’m sorry it’s so difficult. A Master’s conversion is the only way to go on to be a registered practitioner psychologist in the UK currently. I don’t know much about how it works in other countries but I know many countries do not require doctorate level qualifications. I think India is included in that :)

  • @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK
    @ClinicalPsychologyCommunityUK2 ай бұрын

    Heyy thanks for your comment! I like the ‘what? So what? Now what?’ Structure to answers :) in terms of the formulation - it really depends on the question :) I’d try not to shoehorn too much structure in as I think it can take you away from answering the question. A loose structure of 2-3 points and an ending is nice and flexible :)
