    Hi Hawk, thanks for your useful video! I own an Draumr 5.0 XL for 2 Weeks and slept the whole last week on our veranda in it. After putting away my "normal" pillow and just using a folded fleece-jacket under my head i slept soooo good in it. But as it turned a little colder i wanted to close my sleeping bag an got problems. If i try to make an arc to enter the sleepingbag, my Draumr 5.0 flaps down under my feet. No chance to build an arc. What am i doing wrong?

    As I see it, there is no benefits on the 2019 version compared to the newer ones. nothing at all. Except maybe weight, as it seems there's more fabric and construction on the newer ones. The staining though, is eminent. Everything you can do on the old and can't on the newer, is not a constant. It's actually how YOU are able to do things. I actually wished I had both versions, I love the footbox on the old one and the bugnet zipper solution on both. It actually can have two completely separate areas of benefit. But I see a lot here that is personal skills and not limitations on the product.

    Hints, ideas on how to keep the sleeping bag from sliding out as I am getting in? The fabric of the amok and the sleeping bag are both slippery! I am not agile enough to just squirm around and pull it up when it slips. I have tried a carpet underpaid: it falls out too. I have tried pins: afraid of puncturing the air pad or ripping the amok or bag from too much pressure.. Help???!!

    I have the 7R. Likely the down is moving around on you. The mat isn't really built to be used like that; it's ideally a flat laying pad. I had it down to 9F last night and was really comfortable on it, and it warmed up extremely quickly.

    I’ve been using my Amok now for 3 years. When the weather is right (any night below 65 degrees) I will sleep out back. I have my own technique for entry and exit and it’s the method that Amok said don’t do. But I can get in and out without having to anchor my bags and equipment. I like the lanyard. I can reach without one but that will be a handy upgrade. I think you Amok is older than mine seeing that your bug net zipper starts and ends on the backside. The add on ring on the overhead line is a must do. Please use a plastic or stainless loop. Damp storage can rust your ring and stain. Great video.

    I have a tip for you: I use an Eno Atlas XL nylon strap (the kind that are usually used for the hammock) at every single tie point on the tarp, hooked in with a caribiner. If you do this, you can actually camp in extreme weather (I used this setup to sleep outdoors during tropical storms in Hawwai'i and stayed 100% dry). Those straps are so strong that the tree you are attached to would fall over before the wind could rip your tarp away. I also use a foam pad instead of the inflatable pad. Not only do I not have to pump it, but it can't pop either.

  • @pedroclaro7822
    @pedroclaro7822 Жыл бұрын

    You are using an Amok Draumr with a foam pad? I know for a fact that the Draumr needs the pad to provide lengthwise support so the hammock retains its shape, so please elaborate. Is it a rollable or a foldable pad? Which hammock do you use? My only problem right now thst keeps me from buying the Draumr is lack of storm compatibility which I could get with a 4 season tarp on other hammocks.

    great review video - thank you. I have both the 4 and the 5XL (no 3) but just got the 4 today (got it really cheap so bought it as a possible backup or loaner) and was wondering what all the differences were. Other than the bugnet - which they made much better IMO on the 5 for sure I couldn't really figure out what those differences were - so now I know as I have been in my 5 many times and absolutely love it. Now that I know about the bugnet I have some hack Ideas I may try with it once I get it hung and lie in it for a while - AGAIN THANKS - oh and if you figure out what causes the stains or how to get them out - please if you would let me know. I don't see any on mine now but if it is a problem I sure would appreciate knowing how to get them out.
