My toms are half the height this year compared to last year, bloody weather! I love fuchsias, as did my Dad before me! Great cauli Brian, hoping mine with curd up soon.

it's surprising how many people love fuchsias. they've been a passion of mine for a while now. as for tomatoes......i agree the weather is a big factor in this years growth rate, but i'm also blaming compost mixes in this. for too long we've relied on the peat. now it's disappearing we are adding more coco coir and additives like perlite.i now recognise the importance of grit or sharp sand in the mix. the original john innes mix was 7 parts loam, 3 parts peat ans 2 parts sharp sand by volume. perlite was an extra added by nurserymen in the old days. for some strange reason gardeners have forgotten the need for drainage and started using more perlite etc. i feel my theory is worth testing next year.......................brian

trhere's nothing more soul destroying than being stuck somewhere you can't eat the food and you're bored. the fact i can't smoke doesnt bother me, but the fact i can't open up my polytunnel does. i never know when i get my next leg infection. i have more time on my plate to put out videos now. i hope you are both ok.................brian

Well Brian those cuttings are doing amazing, makes you wonder why we bother growing more than one seed when we can take strong cuttings. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s lovely to hear the kids in the background. I’m not sure what the he’ll is going on with compost and soil bought in, everyone’s having issues. When people say it’s a bad year and things aren’t going well they should see how you are doing and growing and not falling back on wo is me. 👍👍 your a star and a legend Brian keep up the great work and inspiration, Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦 Just look at those stellar cauliflower 👍👍

Looking champion marra you and the veg lol quick daft question Brain, In my fron garden a have a massive fuchsia (like privet size) Do you know if you can successfully graft different types to the main stem (double flower, trailing types) sure a remember seeing something years ago about making standards.they were about 5 to 6 ft tall ones the fella made

i can't see why they can't be grafted, but standards are mainly created from certain named varieties of fuchsia. generally an upright plant with lush growth. i found it makes a stronger standard by using 3 or 4 shoots growing together inter-twining them. i would still use a cane to promote a straight centre stem. i bought my new stock of plants late in the season. best to start early with cuttings for this purpose...................brian

That compost is looking better than some you get now, a friend gave me some tomato plants and I'm surprised that anything could grow in it, I had to shake off as much as I could before repotting them.. thank you ali. unfortunately, it was my second stay in hospital in 2 months. unfortunately, i can't eat the food. that's why i lost so much weight and my daughter was worried. i still say there are people worse off than me....................brian
