The picking pattern is down down up Up down up down up
I'm done with Floyd Rose it's a nightmare sometimes
Guess you didn't like the Harley Benton DC-600 ?
I’ve never played one… Definitely seems like a cool instrument though
I truly believe WOLF AIO changed the face of inexpensive guitars…I bought a Wolf LP in 2017 for $400 and it is every bit as good as a $1500 Gibson. Since then the PRC and other locations have amped up their manufacturing equipment and tech..the landscape of budget guitars has taken a completely different direction, an outstanding one! What once was only big brands being able to afford the equipment, design and quality control is now affordable for no name factories on the come up, and many are making waves. It’s a dream for new players that might never realize the goldmine they have available to them vs even just 10 years ago. China guitars were junk, cheap piles of junk and now, well..just look at the Fesley here and so many others. Quality like set up, the finish and most of all they aren’t junk pinging and chiming away with crap tone. The fact a $200 guitar can be bought and give quality is crazy but it is here to stay. So get one and play your soul out!!
Never heard of Wolf, I’ll have to check them out, but yeah, budget guitars have definitely come a long way 🤘🎸
OMG, WOLF now AIO of California, I want to send a pic of mine that only cost $400 in 2017 full of Abalone, inlays, headstock, binding! It’s incredible on sound and quality. Out of the Cali shop they work directly with us buyers for your personal set up before shipping. It so worth checking out it’s a Brand that has serious momentum and stellar guitars. $450 Wolfs offer values triple that price.
This is where the sales marketing gets you. It actually costs the price of 2 guitars to ship 1. Its Advanced Sales tactic 101 Now you're euphoric for buying a cheap good guitar but YOU THINK you got 1 shipped for free but you didn't and now you're likely to buy another 2 in the future, so they successfully hooked you. See, they worked this out, how do you get return customers with a decent budget guitar? Simple, you jack the shipping up on one guitar giving them the "no brainer" option to ship 2. And even 3 guitars is only a few dollars more. 🎉
But it’s great
You need to write something on the guitar forgot what it was
Glad you mentioned about the maple neck. I have two Jacksons with maple necks. Glad I watched this.
Yeah it’s pretty important and they really only mention it in the fine print on the bottle… Appreciate the comment 🤘🎸
Gotta try this. Hmm. Paul Reed Smith!
The one thing I'd love to know. How tall are the fret's in inches? Like .045"/ .052" If you have feeler gauges lol.
I do have a way to measure it, but unfortunately I’m in the middle of a move, and all my guitars are in storage… 🤦♂️… I’ll try to remember to measure them and get back here once I get settled…🤘🎸
Cool guitar. I've got mine for like 75$ on used marked 😄
I’ve got an older Kelly I got from Goodwill for $88… Indeed there are some good deals on these guitars if you have a little patience… 🤘🎸
Do you have any lock on tuners you reccomend? Budget.. I'm thinking of buying the guitar.
Love Guyker Locking Tuners for a multitude of reasons… They’re a solid locking tuner at a budget price. In the spirit of full disclosure, they do sponsor content on my channel but they only found me because I was already making videos on how good their products were for the money. You’ll also likely need a reamer to make most locking tuners fit, as Jackson tuner holes often need to be opened up just a bit, at least that’s been my experience depending on the model... It’s super easy to do, although I don’t think I have a video on it. Lastly, use the coupon code “FretboardDiaries” to get 15% off on Guyker.com … I appreciate the comment and thanks for watching 🤘🎸
he said not to put them on a $1000 guitar.....thats exactly what i did LOL !!! i put them on a gibson sg faded, and you know what it looks great, especially since i couldnt find any black gibson delxe tulip tuners
😂 😂… I mean, I may have said it like that, but what I really meant was, if I had a $1000 guitar, I’d likely spend a bit more for a better quality tuner. Not taking anything away from these, they’ve been great on my budget Harley Benton. I’d just likely jump up to Grover’s or something similar for a higher end instrument. That said, I’m glad they’ve worked out for you 🎸🤘
Oh, btw, I understand you’re moving. I hope you can hold on to a similar type of set for your videos. I just always assumed you were in a club during closed hours. That’s a great vibe. I don’t know why I brought it up. I guess I’ll miss that ambience. But hey, I look forward to whatever you got planned. You have good taste. Good luck with everything.
Thanks man… Yeah the old studio was just a 10x12 spare bedroom that I made to look like a nicer place than it was 😂… I’m gonna experiment with the next room and see how it goes. I may leave the walls white, so I can change the light color, we’ll see… Thanks for the comments and support man, much appreciated! It’ll probably be at least a month until I’m up and running but I’m gonna try and put something out before then
Hey, dude. What’s up? Great video. Interesting trem. I’m thinking about it. And I think you’re right - rollers are healthier for the strings, and helpful for trem-influenced tuning. I plan on roller bridges for all my axes. I still think your shows are doing great, man. And mostly because your style really works. It was good catching up up, bro. Keep up the good work.
Thanks man! Appreciate all the support 🤘🎸
Does it come with roller saddles? That tune o matic bridge won't cut it, it will literally cut the string under pressure
Unfortunately no, it doesn’t come with the roller saddle bridge. They sell that separately, it’s anywhere from $15-$25 depending on the color. I think black was $17 the last time I looked, but you’re right in the sense that it’s a must if you’re going to install this trem system
I got two and there's zero blemish issues
Yeah, I mean, it’s not uncommon to get a guitar without any blemishes, but it shouldn’t be the expectation, particularly with budget instruments
Kaynes or Guyker? They both seem very similar
Depends… if the guitar has neck dive, go with the Kaynes, they’re lighter… If neck dive isn’t an issue, go with the Guyker, I felt like they were a bit more solid, although performance was similar… Full disclosure, I’m sponsored by Guyker, but the video I made on their locking tuners was done before I was sponsored by them and I stand by it. Pretty solid product 🤘🎸
great guitars but HEAVY as HELL
The TE-20HH sbk standard is indeed pretty heavy… Whereas my Fusion is actually on the lighter side. I’ve heard their SC series is heavy too.
@@FretboardDiaries The neck feel like a bat but plays really well.
You know what else is easy to install and reversible? The Floyd Rose and and Kahler terms for stud bridges.
Price point is completely different though.
I love kahler trems so much but not for a beginner situation due to the price
I just bought an LP. Out of spite cause I’m about to do a review on a Epiphone I bought, that had a little damage to it. And a retailer was going to charge me shipping
Right on man, let me know how it works out… 🤘🎸
Chourous pedal sounds so good
Can it do harmonic squeals???
Yes, you can easily do harmonics just as you normally would… Can it flutter, I’m not sure… Someone else asked and unfortunately I’m in the middle of a move, so the guitar is in storage and I can’t test…
hey, can I put a design like this over a pickguard, I have been wanting to put a design like this but scared to do it because I don't know what might happen.
You can, it can be a little tricky because of how the pickguard is beveled, but I’ve seen guys do it with a lot of success… Before investing in a print design, grab a role of cheap vinyl from Amazon and practice on a pickguard first. Best of luck 🤘🎸
Thanks I'll try that
can i use dunlop 65 on fretboard?
This particular system is designed for Rosewood and similar woods on the fretboard. It’s not for use on a finished Maple and can damage it. If you’re unsure of whether or not it’s safe for your guitar, reach out to the manufacturer of the guitar, let them know what model you have, and ask if it’s safe to use. That’s your best bet…
@@FretboardDiaries PRS se standard 24.
Those Lil' Killers are great sounding pickups....I have a 15k in the bridge of my Strat.... it's beefy enough for me to get some really good hard rock and metal tones as well. After watching this video, I will probably get the other 2 lower output models. For the money -you can't beat them.
Agreed… I love the fatter tone, definitely a more unique sound for a single coil sized pickup… I find myself playing this guitar more frequently just for the tone 🤘🎸
Prefer the Tone Ninja lockers I put on both my homebuild and Schecter demon 7. No muss, No fuss install, and the 6 string set has staggered posts.
I’ll have to check those out…
Let me just say you suck! All along the way and I have been checking out this guitar I was 100% certain that I was going to order the black one. After seeing this one especially in the flat paint now I want this one. So thank you for making me more confused. -) When you were talking about what other KZreadrs have been saying about their name on everything that doesn't bother me. The way I'm looking at it is that day for proud of the product they are putting out there and they want everybody to know their names. I enjoyed the way you were playing you really had a good sound. I can say I always hit the like button before watching the video. I always think that is someone put effort into this the least I can do is the hit the like button. There has been a few times where I have to go back and uncheck the box. When I like the person who made the video and they are knowledgeable on what they are talking about I feel I'm obligated to subscribe. I know it takes you guys a long time to make these videos. Looking forward to watching more from you.
I really appreciate the comment man… I’m in the middle of a move and haven’t really been able to record or even respond to comments… but I love comments like these and it’s what makes KZread really worth it. Thanks for taking the time to leave this comment… Also, thanks for understanding the effort that goes into it… For us small KZreadrs, we are the on air talent, lighting guy, sound guy, videographer, editor, thumbnail creator, and of course, responding to comments. Ad revenue doesn’t really pay squat and I turn down a good majority of sponsorship requests (I accepted Fesley because of their hands off approach) So, for many of us, we do KZread because we enjoy helping people, we enjoy interacting with an awesome guitar community, and we also like the little bit of cash income on the side… So comments like these matter, and thanks for leaving one 🤘🎸 Thanks again for watching and thanks for the sub
Hello friend, I also saw the video in which you reviewed the Schecter c6 pro, I am undecided between js32 and c6 pro, which one has a harder and tighter sound in riffs.
So the Schecter is an absolutely beautiful guitar… The Kelly’s finish wasn’t great, as I mentioned in the video. The Schecter has more of a DiMarzio sound, ideal for leads, but lower end rhythms can be a tad muddy. The Kelly is definitely better suited for Rhythm style, very hot and tighter tone. I did ultimately replace the Kelly pickups with GuitarFetish active pickups and it absolutely SCREAMS now… Lastly, the Schecter needed a full setup out of the box… I would call the way it was setup “Embarrassing” and it was borderline unplayable, whereas the Jackson was setup up flawlessly, with really low action out of the box. So out of the box, the Kelly would probably be a better option for what you’re looking for. Hope that helps 🤘🎸
I got one but it seems to break the high e at the ball end. I might need to file it or something. Also the spring seems a little weak. Overall it’s fun but maybe not as stable as I was hoping for. I will keep messing with it. I never got any padded stickers. But I do like their roller bridge.
That’s interesting… I’ve heard a few folks complain about string breakage, but that hasn’t been an issue for me. I do have the Roller Saddle bridge, which helps prevent it, and I don’t go crazy on it, but I have put a good amount of time on it playing some demanding songs and haven’t had any breakage issues. That said, perhaps filing it may help. It’s also interesting that you didn’t get the padded stickers, which is why I felt they really should include a parts list and simple instruction guide. I’m hoping Guyker considers doing that, so that if something is missing, you know it… 🤘🎸
Want a "Custom Shop" axe for around $1000, check out a Shijie. Mine is an impressive instrument, and all who have tried them agree.
I started guitar with steel so im staying steel
I started with steel but I’ve grown very fond of nylon… Particularly around the fire pit, so maybe give it a shot some time. It’s great under the right circumstances 🤘🎸
Heavier is also more badass and allows lower tuning
If you are a perfectionist as i am then Harley Bentons will drive you mad. You only need to look at how many B grades are available to realise that the returns rate must be high. I tried 3 samples of their CST24 and they all had dings and scuffs to the finish. The safest way to buy them is as used, this way an honest seller will show you the imperfections before you decide to buy it. This is how i bought my Fusion and HM strats, both had been fully setup and were as close to perfect as you will find.
Darrel Braun reviewed an inexpensive floating locking nut system that you clamp it directly on the strings behind the regular nut and it has fine tuners for each string. I've yet to see anyone else demo that product, although I haven't exactly searched for more videos on it, but perhaps that or a graphite / Graphtech nut could also help. Don't remember the name of the product or who made it, but you will find it quickly with a search through Mr. Braun's videos! \m/ Keep Rocking Fretboard Diaries! \m/
Thanks for the great comment! I’m gonna have to check that vid out, might be a cool addition to this guitar 🤘🎸
Good stuff, thanks dude! As always another excellent video, great lighting, very clear audio and easy to follow step-by-step instructions. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words… I can’t wait to finally get moved and into my new studio to start recording again. It’s good to see your channel growing 🎸🤘
Thanks dude for the quick video and discount code!
🤘🎸
Would this work on a telecaster
This bridge/trem system only works on guitars with a Tune-a-matic bridge system, which isn’t common on a Tele, so I’d have to say most likely, No, it won’t work…
Didn't realize he ripped off to live is to die by metallica
The single coolest guitar I’ve ever seen, for the sole reason that the hardware is black. Putting black hardware on my sg, hope it looks as good as that absolute monster
Yeah depending on the guitar it’s either black or chrome hardware… I’m typically not a fan of gold or various other colors. Good luck with your hardware swap 🤘🎸
@@FretboardDiariesthanks, It’s just a trem, bridge, pegs, and knobs. Nothing super special or difficult
Nice review 😊 Keep up the good work @FesleyMusic
Thank you! 🤘🎸
Hey! Glad to see ya. Man, you really own the whole fret polishing task. Amazing results without a polishing wheel. You got this. I even replayed the video to write down the polish you used. Dude, if you put a buffing wheel on a dremmel (be prepared for the spray out), you’d have them gleaming like a cosmic event. Btw, when you get tired of hand-taping (which you did immaculately), you can get various types of metal shields to expedite the process. Even though I don’t see a better way than tape, I understand when guys go to shields. Anyway, great video.
Yeah I actually have the metal shields, I just never use them 😂… There’s something cathartic about taping off the board 😆. I just kinda enjoy taking the time and working on the guitar. That said, I have a Dremmel, just didn’t feel like it was necessary, especially with the spray out in my small room. Maybe one of these days I’ll give that a shot… Thanks for the comment and the kind words 🎸🤘
You got me going to buy a fesley right now
Haha nothing wrong with that man, I’m really enjoying mine… Pickups in this model are fantastic. I dropped the Guyker trem along with this roller bridge on it. Next is Roller nut and locking tuners 🤘🎸
What’s flp? F*ck Les paul? I’d take the decal off the headstock and cover the name on the fretboard
I’m pretty confident the F stands for Fesley… 😂 😂 😂… That said, it’s actually more like an ESP Eclipse… There’s no arch top. I’ve had a blast with it though, been modding it since this vid… Fantastic budget guitar to mod for the money
Fantastic looking guitar I may try one
Great beard bro!
Pfft… Tell that to my wife… 😂 😂 😂… Little does she know I’m growing it back this fall…
I use it everyday!
Great Rack!🤣
Indeed! I’ve now got two of them… 🤘🎸
Couple of things: HB is the "house brand" of Thomann, which is the world´s biggest online store for music gear. They´re literally the "Amazon of music equipment". They´re so cheap, because Thomann goes directly to the factories in Far East, have the instruments build and then import & ship them themselves. There´s no dealer involved, like with import brands of big name companies like Squier, Epiphone etc. Because they´re so big as a company, they can negotiate better prices from the factories and also get the hardware ( bridges/ pickups etc) much cheaper. That´s why you see a 1000 Floyd or EMG pickups on a 450 Euro Guitar. If you´re located in the EU & the UK, their shipping rates are super cheap. Sadly not so much in N. America, but that goes also the other way. Their return policies are usual very generous, usually they will refund or replace faulty instruments without any fuss. Sadly, because they sell so much and have this return policy, they skip on the QC and it´s not unusual to get a lemon. But QC has improved over the years, dramatically, specially the more expensive models are pretty well build. Speaking of, the more expensive series are usually made in Indonesia from what I know.
Fesleys suck!
