Maybe God Podcast

Maybe God Podcast

Welcome to the Maybe God Podcast! On this channel, we tackle the biggest and most controversial questions people are asking about God, religion, the meaning of life, and the modern-day culture wars. Instead of simply arguing about who's right and wrong, however, we like to give people who are asking such questions a platform to tell their stories.

Our host, Eric Huffman, is the Lead Pastor of The Story Church in Houston, TX, and is the author of two books ("40 Days of Doubt" and "Scripture and the Skeptic"). A preacher's kid who was raised in the Bible Belt, Eric renounced his core Christian beliefs for more than a decade until God brought him to his knees in dramatic fashion.

Since his return to Christianity, Eric has continued to ask hard questions - and to encourage others to do the same - in pursuit of the Truth. At Maybe God, we believe that questions lead to deeper conversations, deeper conversations lead to true stories, and true stories lead to a better world.

Jesus casted out demons as well did his disciples . Every night I wake up and tell Santan you might have won today’s battle but God will win the war . I then praise God for his mercy , love and forgiveness. Again the sun rises and the battle begins . It’s a fight worth fighting because in the end God wins Amen

i respect that its your journey, because that is what it is. Its all case by case bases. I think, just maybe don't be a hypocrite by calling transitioners delusional for thinking it solves all of our problems. Some of us actually know its just transition in perspective. but it HAS solved a lot our problems. At least those of us that has made the correct decision to transition. Shame on the folks around you that allowed you to transitioned . But lets be real, you were never trans , you weren't happy prior, or during. The community of detranitioners you found and the feeling of being understood is what actual trans people feel when they come out and all the time, afterword. Of course there is the honeymoon stages. But, it phases out and becomes regular, not repulsing. I just feel you are using your experience against the entire trans medical treatment. I know you think children shouldn't transition. It should only happen if its a severe circumstance but the way you felt about needing to destransition and the suicidal ideations with telling the people around you about it is what transitioners deal with as well. so as a young child, if you were capable of having those feelings on and off hormones, its proof its real. The assessment process needs to be stronger and more difficult but saying children transitioning is only harming them, is hypocrisy. You were able to have those feelings and so was an entire community that you managed to find that saved you. Just because you didn't fit in doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The fight you are fighting is not the response you are receiving. People look at you like a reason no one should transition. A reason to hate people who are trans. They always say its about children but, the retaliation is clearly being blamed on the adult trans patients. It needs to be blamed on providers and the ones in charge of these children. My life has nothing to do with your Childs medical history. I WENT 18 YEARS WITHOUT HORMONES because my parents weren't educated enough, i survived my life in limbo until i made the decision to be happy and transition. boy or girl i needed help in that department. It wasn't offered because the education to the providers is not there. stop placing blame or allowing your following to place blame in the wrong direction. Transitioning is a medical treatment, treat it like one. Mental health exists, and mental health treatment exists.

❤As a person on the spectrum who was shy and bullied too, this could totally have happened to me also. My heart goes out to you Chloe, I wish the medical system and social media had not fed the ideas and insecurities that teens always go through to make them more than they really were. 😢 I think it's somewhat wrong to blame the adults when someone defiantly demands their way and is hell-bent on pursuing the rebellious ideas of youth. We really need honest medical and mental health professionals to do the research and speak out to address the roots of this disorder so we can help these young people to be spared harm &/or trauma and recover to go forward strong and healthy in life as young adults ❤

I can't wait to hear your voice again, but more of the words and the passion you have shared with us over the years. Randy, I met you at Church in Maui, many years ago, and you were so kind. It was a moment I'll never forget. Today, I work with blind, people with challenges, and have raised funds for heart patients, and our first recipient is graduating next year at a deaf school in the Philippines. I'd love to connect as we have 2 IP's and one which I would love to work with you and donate all the proceeds for a charity of your choice. Love you Randy.

This video came up in my feed just now, and as I love Chloe, I clicked the play button straight away. I feel like her proud auntie, listening to her here. I can't help seeing her increased confidence in speaking, and seeing her blossom into the precious young woman that she is. It's a strange phenomenon that a person can come through a life altering trauma and disaster, a time of feeling like they don't fit in, and then step into their destiny. "Cometh the moment, cometh the man", or woman in this case. Chloe's dignity and self-control when talking about those who perpetrated evil against her, and the trauma that would push anyone to their limits mentally and physically, has always inspired my admiration. It warms my heart enormously to hear that the Lord God has been drawing Chloe to Himself. I've been praying for this very thing, that Chloe would find Jesus, our most faithful Friend along this path of life. I pray that He wraps His arms of love and comfort around Chloe. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted, and the world desperately needs Him.

I feel like this is all about money and votes-Not about making sure we are not harming people. You can basically make a very young and healthy person into a lifelong patient. The money never stops flowing in. And if you can encourage everyone to put themselves into a box, then you can pretended to champion for that special group for votes. That’s just how I feel. Years ago we hated labels. We hated the idea of being told that being a woman meant you had to wear dresses and makeup. And for men it was the same. They were actually growing their hair long and wearing makeup in all the big bands- and they were still men. And they still considered themselves to be men. There was no right way to be w man or a woman. It’s crazy to me that we’ve swung so far in the opposite direction. Now all the stereotypes determine that you are either a man or a woman. If you like pink and dresses, you’re really a girl with a penis. If you’re wearing pants all the time and you don’t wear any makeup, you’re really a man with a vagina. None of this is a healthy mindset. I hated dresses and makeup and being girly. And i’m so glad no one hauled me off to hormone therapy. I was just a girl that hated girly things. The horror, i know.

Its ok for someone to make a living by telling their story. I never discount someone right away just because they have a book or a project. Think for just a minute that he is being truthful. What a wonderful way to make a living. Sharing the best news possible. I’m not saying there are not some that take advantage and aren’t truthful. Just don’t let them tarnish the vast majority of people that aren’t perfect but are sincere.

She possesses beauty both inside and out and demonstrates remarkable courage by sharing her experiences. It's undoubtedly difficult to do so. It's clear that she has discovered her true self and understands her desires and identity. Doctors who perform these types of surgeries on children should face legal consequences. Children are not capable of making such significant decisions. When I was a child, I wanted to be a unicorn; would they have implanted a horn on my forehead? In today's world, it wouldn't surprise me.

It is estimated that about 1% of those that transition de- transition I think these subject would be better served by hearing from those that make up the other 99%. Seeing as how it is also noted that those that identify as trans make up about 0.07% of the population I don't believe many people even know someone who is transgender. There is much talk about this growing trend for kids to transition but what are the actual numbers? It is common and acceptable for parents to allow their daughters to play with the boys and rough house climb trees and collect frogs. It is just a " Tomboy" phase they'll grow out of it. Some do some don't. Why then do we freak out and have a total meltdown if our son puts on a dress and wants to have a tea party? Because society has trained us to do that. I probably would have if one of my kids had been a boy. The older I get the more I see this as wrong. That boy would have the same possibility to "grow out of it" as our Tomboy daughter does.

This is just awesome and so real!! ❤ Ive had NDE'S but can't remember them and it kinda sucks. But my first, at age 13, I came back with some gifts. Knowing, seeing, hearing. Profound insight and Im sure theres a reason I'm not able to remember the other side. But I'm sure I will be shown when its meant. The most memorable gift I received was the morning my mom passed. I felt someone or something tickling my nose. I covered my head with my blanket and my mom came to my thoughts of this is how mom sleeps with her head covered. Not more than an hour later the call came from my daughter. My mom had passed and she was on way to hospital. I cried so hard and dropped the phone. Then heard my mom's voice telling me "I'm okay Sissy, and Im happy now"... I said I know mom but I don't want you to go. I feel blessed now. That I got that gift and she came to me ❤

I think you guys have it backwards -- the reason men are struggling is because not all of them comport to the idea of masculinity as you outlined it. The problem isn't that masculinity is under attack, it's that masculinity has strict parameters that not every man will be in perfect alignment with, hence we have a "crisis", although it's really not a crisis. It has always been this way.

  • @aithjawcraig9876

An addendum: the big problem is that not all men CAN comport to this particular view of masculinity, hence why so many are displaced by it

I was a Christian for 20 years. I regret that I was lied to by Christians - I read books like evidence that demands a verdict and more than a carpenter. I was persuaded that Jesus was the only way. I stopped believing when I realized prayers are not answered, for me or anyone. Believers please view the best of Sean Carroll, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens - I did not know why neither me nor the vast number of believers refused to share their faith. As an atheist for the last 20 years I am euphorically delighted with my changing for the best in spirituality. I love sharing my faith (based on the overwhelming evidence that God is not real). Here is an invitation to all believers. Lee Stroebel, it is long overdue that you stop pretending God is real! I know more than you regarding heaven, hell,, God, Jesus The Holy Spirit, sin and forgiveness - DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Is this some kind of joke talk? John 11:43 (UKJV) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. Almost 2000 years ago. 2 Corinthians 12:4 (UKJV) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, (o. rhema) which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Almost 2000 years ago. Churches full of unbelief. Churchianity. The whole bible comes from peoples experiences with the Lord. Bible worship. Dead words that are read, but not believed.

We tend to put God in a box. I view the Bible as Gods word. Very , very important for us to study, be inspired by, uplifted by, seek knowledge from etc but we don't worship the Bible. We worship God thrue Jesus ,anointed , Messiah, son of God and the holy spirit. Here is thesis I have. It may or may not be true but it makes sence to me. For those who have there Theology , Eschatology all worked out from the scriptures. Cemented or if I may use the expression "put in a box" You may not like this Thesis. When we die. Is it or sins that seperate us from God? Is it our individual sin? Not our friends or neighbours sin. Could it be right that the distance or hell that a person find them selves from God is equal to there sin. Is it reasonable that a person who have committed hainous crimes would recieve the same punishment from God in a hell verses a kind and caring person who didn't recieve Christ. ( True! In Gods eyes no one is good) Wouldn't it be just that the criminal would recieve the consequences/punishment of his crimes in hell and the kind caring person recieve the consequences/punsishment of his sins in hell wich in comparison would be of a lesser degree. Not saying hell is a place anyone want to go and that its not terrible but wouldn't it make sence that the punishment should be just.

7:08 Don’t forget the guards were threatened under penalty of death. They were preparing for Yeshua/Yahweh/ Jesus’s body to be stolen and had his tomb locked down with some sort of mechanism that would warn everyone if anyone tried to get in or out. 500 people were eye witness, who had nothing to gain besides slow, agonizing, painful deaths. Which leads to, no one dies over a lie.. no one gets skinned, burned alive, beheaded, or ask for a more painful death and be crucified upside down. Because they don’t feel worthy of dying the same way as their savior… I can’t remember the his name. But some emperor/ king wrote in his personal diary about the eclipse and a man sacrificing himself to save humanity.. and Christianity didn’t make its way to china at the time that it was written. - Thank you to the few or the one who’s still with me.. even if it’s out of spite? Lol I apologize for the lack of sources for the diary of Chinese emperor/ king who wrote about the eclipse& a savior who died for humanity And the poor punctuation. Lol

Let’s stop referring to this as “transitioning” because we all know that it is not possible to transition from male to female or vice versa and I therefore feel that using that term is helping to further the woke madness that plagues our country currently. Let us refer to it as “self harm process” or “self destruction process” or something more akin to the truth.
