It always amazes me how that group of players are never afforded the respect the United class of 92 get. Arguably only Hayes didn't have as fulfilling a career as the others. Except for Quinn and Hayes the others played for England.

Looking throughout Arsenal's season in Wikipedia I noticed a remarkable statistic in the 1993-94 season with 4 consecutive 0-0 draws at some point in the league. Graham was like the exact opposite to Wenger during his later years in Arsenal. He had a bit of success with 2 league titles and the cup winners cup but as it turned out Wenger was the right man for Arsenal at the end of the day

@@arsenalogist4285 10 year long trophy drought only followed by 3 FA cups and always falling short of the PL title, nobody really can't deny that Arsenal under Wenger from 2005 gradually went downhill with extenuating circumstances that the key players that helped to shape Wenger's style departed/retired from our club and were not sufficiently replaced. The board of directors during the years certainly bear a responsibility of underfunding the squad but Wenger also lost his magic touch and eventually he was no longer able to cope with Manchester United and the rise of Chelski.

Some Arsenal fans I know say this team was better than the invincibles and the 98 team. Because this side had a mixture of both the 98 senior players and the 04 side, whilst also competing against United and Liverpool. Plus the double.
@DMArsenalArchivesАй бұрын
Completely agree. This team was the best side I ever saw at Highbury. Also it was a more dramatic season overall the fact we won the title at old Trafford, 3 teams were well and truly in the title race until Liverpool lost at spurs on Matchday 36 This season didn’t have any real faults where as 2004 has a tinge of disappointment to it after losing to United n Chelsea in the space of 4 days

I'm telling you this as you won't get that many views or comments as mine has been viewed 1000s of times but there were people asking me to upload various other seasons, but I informed them that they were all on the internet archive website. I'll put a link in my feed to tell others that you have uploaded a lot more seasons. All the best.

He had no chance of staying. David Dein never wanted him and was overruled by the board. He was a stop gap for Arsene Wenger. When he upset Ian Wright, David Platt flopped and he was ordering the board to give him money to sign John McGinley and sell Ian Wright, Dein finally had the excuse he needed to convince the board to sack him. I personally think Rioch did ok. He got us back into Europe and the semis of The Coca Cola Cup. Yet the problem was that we were lucky to scrape 5th that season. It was only because Everton, Tottenham and Blackburn were poorer towards the end of the season that we got 5th. The board knew that and couldn’t risk keeping Rioch after the commotion he had caused during pre season.
@tgmartin7 ай бұрын
@chrisrowe7503 I don't think he wanted to actually sign McGinley (he just told Wrighty to look at him as an example in training) but he kind of had a point re: moving Ian Wright on. He wasn't getting any younger and Arsenal's over-reliance on him made them predictable to the point where they'd fallen a long way behind the title challengers so potentially selling him and rebuilding the side (as Wenger would do shortly afterwards) kinda made sense in the long run.

That 1987 League Cup final was when, as a 10 year-old kid, I first started getting interested in football. My brother was an Arsenal fan, and most of my mates at school were Liverpool supporters, so that Final was when I said, "Right. Whatever the result is, whoever wins this game is who I'll support." 36 years later, I have no regrets! What a club! What a ride!
