I recently picked up this hobby this season. I have a bazillion lures, and the cost of store lures are too much to replace current ones. I will make my own now. Good luck bud! cheers from Canada, Ontario.

@@guideide3872 Thanks , I read some other comments and figured it out, do you put lights on top of tube so people see them ? Now I have to get a bag too.

Ehhh I only like doing this if the ice is super thick even then sometimes the ice won’t disperse well enough and cause issues when you’re pulling a fish up or dropping your bait down. I also don’t do this if it’s under 15 feet because if there is a fish down there that’s gonna disturb the bite. Also reversing it can mess your blades up if you’re not careful as well as flood the surrounding area with water if you aren’t super tedious with it, rather just have the kids scoop it out for me.

Why doesn't anybody show the REAL fishing conditions? All these clips are in still water, which I seldom get on Lake Ontario. In 2' waves, all the boards I found run one side perfect and the other side does not run OUT but actually BEHIND the boat.

If your trolling do you use floating cranks? so if you run onto a stack of walleyes you can spot lock and fish that stack and the cranks will float till you start trolling again? Good video, never done planers but willing to give it a try.

Brad and Doug, great report and once again, thanks so much for doing these ice reports. I live in Kenosha (Village of Somers) and it's 50 minutes (one way) from my house to the marina where you were on Delavan. You saved me a lot of time to go check ice. More importantly, you help keep people safe. Take care and tight lines.

"Learning how to troll with planer boards" I could barely hear you and you aren't teaching me you are showing everyone how fast you can set up a board. I get it you are a guide and know what you are doing but if you are doing a learning video do it right. Slow it down, go through the different types slowly and when setting up the board slow it down step by step.

Straight up Sconnie here. You use SeaG I use Vanish. I use a button threaded through my backing to mark depth and have for over 35 years. Put that shiner a foot or two off the bottom and wait for that eye to start taking line, it’s cheek meat time really soon my man! Let me bag my limit of 16-17 inchers and my pictures of the 25’s that go back into the water. I’m making my hot sauce now to put on those sandwiches! The hard water is just around the corner and I’m ready to slay!
