    be pro-active, stay curious & think a lil before u ask questions. learn as much as u can (also, try not to be consumed by the negativity that may be present in the environment). u may be asked to do many administrative things at the start but do them well & efficiently. u’ll then slowly move on to other tasks and get opportunities to try other sections. if so, step out of ur comfort zone & try. technical skills. try to use what u’ve learnt in school and apply them (e.g. double entries and the application of IFRS standards in different scenarios when auditing different clients - personally, i feel that these skills are impt) soft skills are equally impt!!! go out there, try to have some fun, attend office/team events & get to know people!! ✨ lastly, i guess as an intern, u have the time to explore many different roles at many different firms and do all types of tasks. take advantage of that!! it’ll help u to at least narrow down the roles / tasks u know u like (or those u don’t like). u’ve the luxury to make mistakes (ofc pls not fatal/unethical ones) and learn from them 👍🏼 once u join as a full time (anywhere), there will be increased expectations as u rise higher in ranks!! (it’s inevitable) (sorry i said a lot, not sure if any of that helped! thanks for the qn btw :) )

    hmmm, i believe there are always advantages and disadvantages, fun times and tough times being in a big 4/audit (or in any other fields of work). Everyone’s experience is different too! :) i definitely had good & fun times during peak with my colleagues too. Where we support each other and push through the busy season together. You can always try out first to see if it’s something you like/want to do. Thereafter, you can plan your next move.

  • @zailey
    @zailey2 жыл бұрын

    Hmm, I think it depends! Depending on the year ends you have for the engagements your are booked on (Is it a combination of different year ends or majority are all the same year end) & also the type & size of engagements (listed co or private, group or single entity, statutory, reporting or agreed upon procedures, etc). Lastly, also involves a bit of luck hahaha For me personally, my busiest periods are from Dec to Jun. Hope that helps!

    Oh!! Congratulations on the offer!! 👏🏼 I think to go in with an open mind and a positive attitude to try to learn as much as you can be it technical or stress management or client management, etc (at least take away something from each engagement). If you are unsure on the task allocated, especially as an associate, do try to work it out by finding solutions. Otherwise, if u are really stuck, approach ur seniors/managers. Most of us will guide/teach, especially if we see that you have a good learning attitude and you try. Also, make some friends along your journey! & take care. Work is work, so do make sure to remember to spend time with people outside of work & on yourself. Ahh yes, u’ll start buying all the funny gadgets like laptop stand, portable/extra monitor, earpiece 🤣🤣🤣

    Hey guys… I got accepted from big four internship, but I already know it’s probably not for me… (they want me to have a clear plan already that makes me feel so pressured about next three years and more:((( ) I am very anxious that everyone says there is no work-life balance for big 4 accounts. Like including my accts prof, I have never seen people who talked positively in the long run about their job. Also they love to say having big 4 name will open so much door, but is it really? I am an international student going to college in the states, but I am lost. Like I want to just live in a small cottage with nature and just chill.

  • @marlaysha_t
    @marlaysha_t2 жыл бұрын

    Big 4 will definitely open more doors for you, but if you think it’s not for you then don’t go for it. Honestly, doing it would help you figure out if you want to be in big 4, and if not, it would still benefit you in the long run for future job opportunities. Basically, just test the waters to see what you like and don’t like.

    I literally do not miss Big 4 public life. Started off in a mid-sized firm, and it was much closer to actual work-life balance than what the big firms peddled. After 3yrs, I got the hell out and went into industry. It was a good background, and gave my resume a lot more attention than had I done my first 3yrs in just industry. But so happy to be out, and never going back.

    Thank u for your kind words! You could try doing an internship during busy season to get a sense of audit and see if you like it. I have not yet tried other fields of work, so I might not be the best person to answer that. However, as you are still in school, I personally feel that it is the best time for you to try as many other related (or not related if you like) fields through internship or attachments or work study programs (if your country offers that). It’s only by dipping your feet in it will you then know if it’s something for you. :) Hope that helps!
