I would absolutely trade away the modern blow molded coffee lid. the amount of trash for a single use item and I would personally enjoy a resurgence in the coffee shop as a third place and not a stop off point to get a shot of caffeine.

This is a wonderful video, but I really feel it skimmed past bild lilli. This isn't a video about bild lilli of course but I feel it doesn't give her near enough credit

The thing about silk worms not existing in the wild anymore isn't true-- there are other types of silk producing moths that still exist in the wild. (Especially in India). But they're distinct.

Godley and Peers initiated the spider silk fabrics, but they did not MAKE the garments themselves. The artisans did!

Hi Matthew, as an Indonesian designer who experienced ID student life under Covid, I found my formative student years to be excruciatingly dull, and graduated in 2022 with dissappointment of my study, continuing to the auto industry and being displeased with it almost in the same manner of my own study. I'm extremely grateful to stumble upon your desperate videos in 2020 to hook your students, and have my horizon widened by binge watching all 12-week videos in an attempt to rekindle my relationship with the broader ID field and its rich history. I can't thank you enough for bringing knowledge and inspiring, even ten thousand miles away. A history lesson only an et ceterator could make!

Why did they get rid of the holes in the feet stand? I get improvements but getting rid of the stand is crazy to me all the flimsy stands they just seam to get worse by the year. The holes in the feet stand are perfect I love when I get a reproduction doll that has that stand! ❤❤

Utterly Brilliant! I applaud the attempt to get the audience but to think ...not just learn. How many lecture courses have people listening to them for pleasure? But I confess I watch these for the pure joy of learning. Bravo!

Fantastic presentation. He was a fascinating man. Our nonprofit, Histoury, will be hosting a tour that includes interior stops at two of his homes in Darien in a couple of weeks, including the Milestone House. We are excited to spread the word about Guild!

I walked around Miami Beach today & feel like I "discovered" Art Deco for the first time in my life. THANK YOU, Matthew Bird, for sharing this wonderful video with us. What an incredible introduction to Art Deco. Your expertise, insight, and humor are appreciated more than I can even say.

The luckhardt st14 chair looks like the supports were pinned or riveted. It's hard to tell, but there's that small circle where it looks like corrosion is in the gap, and also because the end of the fastner is flush.

If anything good came out of the pandemic, it's videos like this. Stumbled across the section on art deco because I've always had a passing interest in that style of art and design, and came out wanting to learn more and having a bunch of different threads to pursue to do so, and just want to thank you for uploading these videos.

People think it's difficult to make symmetrical models in 1990's, think about the temples in India that had perfect symmetry which are sculpted out of stone and are made in a huge scale, all my respect to the Temple Builders

Let's also remember the iconic 1964 (64° angle) Coast Guard racing stripe. The visual emotional reaction for those on the water is always priceless. It's either good or bad.🤣 Many other nations have now copied versions of the "Racing Stripe".

I’ve just watched this last chapter in your course. And probably the most important things I’ll take away from it are excitement for all the ideas you’ve shared and optimism for everything that lies ahead. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your work and the connections you’ve made among otherwise disparate people and objects as you’ve described a trajectory for the evolution of design as a practice. You’ve given us a lot to think about this world of products and services in which we live. And you’ve given me, personally, a renewed excitement about how and where I can contribute to it. I wish there were some way to repay your efforts. (Seriously: a Patreon site, a book, tee shirts … coffee mugs … everyone loves coffee mugs)
