One of my favourites from this band, cheers bro. Leaning many police songs now. Keep em coming.
So good. Any chance you might do "The Payback"?!
Yes!
GREAT AS ALWAYS BART!!!!! This is a really good investigation, just like the other vids. Thanks!
Thanks! ✌️🎸
What a fantastic demo, Bart FUNK Bass! The huge amount of work required for a two and a half minute video showing side-by-side A/B sound samples on the same bass is staggering. But what a great comparison. The 60s is rounder and thicker at the bottom end, with a lovely slightly overdriven tone, while the 70s is twangier, thinner at the bottom, tighter at the top, with more high mids pushed forward, probably going to punch through a mix more. Both fantastic sounds, but less of a difference than I'd imagined there to be. Both great tones.
Thank You! ✌️🎸
Yesterday I put those strings on, Flea, the 105 (E) has absolutely no shine, it sounds very dull unlike the others, is that normal? The very old string I had before sounded much better....
Not normal
Bootsy Collins on bass, Maceo Parker on saxophone, and Fred Wesley on trombone. And the BartFunkBass, of course. Great job!
It's a sample from Herbie Hancock. Ron Carter on bass. Thanks! ☺️✌️🎸
Awesome vid 🫡
Thanks! ☺️✌️🎸
The best tone he has ever had in his career
✌️🎸
pretty enjoyed this video as an owner of 5 Modulus Flea Bass guitars!❤
You're crazy!
clean execution ok!
Thanks ✌️🎸
nice videos thanks! What I don't understand is why Flea treated his Modulus basses so badly. He wanted a custom bass, gets a gorgeous unique sounding custom bass made by fricking Modulus and he smashes it in 97, the very same year he got it. He smashes it in 98 because it was out of tune and who knows how many more. Why destroy your own custom instruments?
Too much money? 😁💵💵💵
I believe he addressed this by saying he was in a bad stage of his life and he regretted it
@@BARTFUNKBASS yeah rockstar millionaires get out of touch with reality and cannot value things.
@@TheAlfaproyect bad stage of his life? Like depressed or smth? Nope, just spoiled rockstar divas.
Thanks Bart for this beautiful presentation! Always doing an outstanding job. I also wonder what makes the sound of this bass, is it the graphite neck? is the lane poor pickup? I doubt since he also used one with Seymour Duncan pickup. Is the OBP preamp? or is the action really low and his attack? so many questions😅
It's everything above 😉 However, if you listen to "Freaky Styley" where he used Music Man Cutlass I, it sounds different than a regular StingRay. I think the graphite neck is a huge factor. This is why his Fender Active Custom Basses don't sound the same as Modulus.
@@BARTFUNKBASS btw his Fender basses, especially the new Flea bass, sounds so boring. No character whatsoever.
@@zeenedin9013 They may even sound quite good, but we'll always hear them in comparison to Modulus.
thanks for all the research, great video!
Thanks for watching! ✌️😉🎸
Amazing, bro! Thanks for this great job
Glad you like it! 🎸✌️😉
What a glorious video! Thanks!
You're welcome!
excellent thanx

Thx 🎸✌️
Excellent !! merci !!
🎸✌️
Rotosound suena más profundo y con más peso.
✌️🎸
What bass of his "cuts thru the mix"?
All
Flea te amare siempre uno de los bajistas más fenomenales de la historia musical
✌️🎸😊
I love the PJ sound because it has way more lows and highs compared to the regular P sound, and less mids, don't get me wrong I love the regular P sound but sometimes I think it has way too much mids and lacks low end in some cases (maybe it is why it sounds so good with flats) In a way it reminds me to the JJ sound and why I love it so much
🙂✌️🎸
I prefer the slinky, less scooped
Amazing video and playing
Thank You! ✌️🎸
Doe the high mass prevent you from adjusting a low action?
No
Amazing!!! I grew up listening to this classic! Thank you for a beginner like me, these rolling tabs are awesome. Even as a lefty lol
You're very welcome! Keep it Funky! 🎸✌️
Thanks. I realized that with an active 5 string bass is not useful
Yes, it's a nice cheap preamp for passive basses.
The worst bass I've ever had by far. The battery box is like a 10 euro toy box. It simply doesn't work. The mechanism is so bad that it disconnects by itself, and that is the few times it works. The batteries make an incredible static noise. A disaster. The seller exchanged it twice for another identical one (he had no option to change the model) and all have the same problem. In the end he sent the bass to a luthier who put a new box on it. The luthier said it was embarrassing to see something like that on a bass guitar worth almost €1000. After this, the seller removed it from his catalog.
😵😵😵
I love all your different Spectrum sounds. Can you share the pedal settings ?
I think they were mostly presets. Just have fun with Neuro app ✌️🎸😎
RB45 my choice 😊
👍
....Fire....I'm about to put this in Serato Sample.....You got skills
Thanks!
Flea destroyed basses in stadium arcadium era? I only saw him destroy basses in one hot minute and californication eras
🤔
That's the perfect groove, ah ha. I like it!
😉✌️🎸
23 minutes: amazing!
✌️😉
I purchased the 79 in my profile picture because I was a huge flea fan. I even got a similar elephant tattoo...😂
Coolness! 😉✌️🎸
Very cool groove to learn. Thanks a lot I love it!
My pleasure! 🎸✌️

Great demo! The flats sound really great! Your playing is superb!
Thanks! ✌️🎸
Keep it up brother! Youve got tabs for everything I want to play, and some I didn't even know I wanted to play 🔥
Thanks! 🎸✌️
Love this! More Fela please (:
More to come! ✌️🎸🙂
Bart Man, I actually made it ALL the way through the nearly 23 minutes of that song for the first time. It was like a meditation and test of sanity all in one. Please give us some more Fela. 3 is not enough (:
Cool! Congrats on good taste! 🙂 I recorded 5 Fela songs 🙂 And more to come! 🎸✌️🙂

I love the way you featured the bass 😊
Thanks! 🎸✌️🙂
Love the flat wounds. They reduce the high-fi sound that the musicman and its preamp produce with rounds.
🙂🎸✌️
La mejor canción para principiantes 😅

Which sound do you think is better overall?
I like both.
I’ve just bought pro steels instead of Ernie steels because of your vid. Thank you
Glad I could help! ✌️🎸
