Simply awesome! Duane mentions Rex Maynard, a former Western States runner. I met Rex and his wife Becky at Red Star at Tevis. Rex had decided years before that Red Star was a needed spot for both runners and horses to find much needed water at that point in the run/ride. Rex Maynard is simply the goodness of life. SUCH a wonderful man. Lucky Duane the day he was fortunate enough to have Rex knock on his door and take him under his wings while guiding him out to our beloved trail. Thank you for this fabulous interview, Bob Kelley. Simply the goodness of life.

I live in Foresthill and have run down Bath rd to the Western States Trail and they have greatly widened it with a fire break road. Pretty chewed up and burned areas on both sides. Noticed today the trail is now closed. Hopefully they are repairing it and we will have a race next year. Great job on saving houses on Bath rd

Watching from France. Thank you to all the personnel who sacrificed so much to combat this horrible fire! We love the Western States Trail and the surrounding foothill communities.

Yea Mike. Have worked in Communications as an SOS member/ham radio operator, yes, with antennas on our helmets😀, since it’s inception, oh so many years ago. Most people have NO idea what is involved to provide information when MaryAnne & Bob Balthrope, total Ham radio geeks, came into SOS the communications world changed for the better. The Tevis Ride is one of the best communication covered rides anywhere. The number of Communication people who Volunteer, like Mike are true hero’s for Tevis. Anyone remember the old days when there was so little & sweep riders had nothing or Placer County Sheriff radios with limited to no coverage?

Thanks for the video. I had to send it to my cousin to show her what Foresthill was like. I volunteered up at Red Star Ridge 3 years on a row, and we always drove down the mountain to greet the Riders as they came thru.
